Fun fact: the company wanted Seonghwa and Hongjoong to do a soft or ballad song but Seonghwa wanted to fulfill his dream as full rapper, since he auditioned to KQ as a rapper, and Hongjoong listened to him and both of them worked on this song! Seonghwa in the lyrics and Hongjoong and edenary team on the production!
I’m so glad we finally get so hear Seonghwa’s rapping in a fulm song and not just seconds cuz I knew he had A LOT of potential! Hopefully we will get more of his rapper persona
Seonghwa reminding the world he is a legit rapper. He auditioned to KQ as a rapper. Ended up as a vocalist cause HJ and Mingi were already there. I'm so glad KQ is letting him rap more often.
HJ and the producers originally wanted MATZ to do a ballad, but Seonghwa push for hip hop and convinced HJ to do it. I'm so glad he did. HJ and Seonghwa wrote all the lyrics, and HJ produced it. This is a straight up diss track calling out their haters and stalkers. HJ makes references to a stalker who put a GPS on one of the vans and one who was selling their personal information online.
You should listen to the full album. The World EP. FIN: Will. IMO it is a no skip album. There are four unit songs. MATZ - HJ and Hwa. IT's You - San, Yeosang, Wooyoung. Youth - Mingi and Yunho. Everything - Jongho. Each is getting an MV. Releasing each week in January.
Some background for the lyrics that non fans probably won't understand:
Matz refers to Hongjoong and Seonghwa as the oldest member (98 born) in Korean Matz itself meaning 'oldest'.
When they say crazy and noisy is a reference to what people say that Ateez performances and their music are.
Seonghwa's line "But yes, oh my doctor said There's a lot of room left to grow" comes from the endoscopy wanteez episode. The Dr told Hwa that he has a large stomach but it also means that they are still hungry even with 5 years in and with all there accomplishments and they wanna grow more.
Hongjoong's line "If you want to put a GPS, put it on a suitcase, not on a carnival, You can be busy too" is a references too 2021 where they found GPS trackers on their Kia Carvial. After that line Hongjoong raps
how they need to get a life or they can put GPS rather in their luggage cause they are always travelling around the world so it's useless to put them on their cars. You can see this in the beginning of the MV when someone puts a tracker on the van which is a Kia Carnival.
Hongjoong's line about "Numbers without sources don't mean a thing to me at all" this about a couple of months ago there were sasaeng "stalker" selling their personal information on line. So there phone numbers and even there flight info.

Seonghwa showing that he's in fact all rounder. his vocal range is so wide, he's a gem. he acted in Imitation(2021), for those who don't know.

No, but hear me out... Seonghwa acting as a Vampire/gothic vigilante character that at first seems evil, but actually is chaotic good. 🫠
He really keeps leveling up. I joke and say he is my bias and my bias wrecker, but it really is kind of true. He is insanely talented and versatile. A true ace.
Hwas versatility is no joke, I'm happy we get to see more of it lately ... like this is the same man who sings the highnote in Utopia 🤯💜 ... and Hongjoong slaying as always, man's wildin' 😂
Seonghwa auditioned to KQ as a rapper. But due to the fact they already had rappers they put him in thr vocal line.
But Seonghwa did rapping parts really early here and there. He sometimes rapped Mingis part. He rapped in Dreamers. And bits in others. But he is a vocalist first currently. And i think you can hear that on his rap. I really like his style.
But that duality is Seonghwa. He fully immerses himself in the concept. The neck tattoo and the kind of Song was his idea ;) (they suggested a love song to their unit song)
If you see live stages you can see how he gets fully in character and is a 180% different person depending on the song. Thats why their live stages are so good to watch. For example The Ring. Hala Hala. Halazia. Guerrilla.
For this song Seonghwa and Hongjoong wrote the lyrics. It is in part a diss track. How they really do have crazy fans. For one the GPS tracker is referencing to a tracker a stalker put on their car.
I am Seonghwa biased and I needed some minutes after the MV.😅 I can never get enough of his performance and acting skills.

Seonghwa is underrated as an all rounder. Rapper, singer, dancer, visual, extremely amazing performer, mother of 6. Also give him a crazy role in a movie and he would portray that character perfectly. He's rly a gem and more people need to talk about his talents and abilities.

Yeah this unit is fire ! This song is one of my favourites from the album. Seonghwa rapped in Bouncy but I guess because you weren't really into the song at that time you don't really remember it. If you want to hear more of Seonhwa's rap I recommend "Leaders".
Being a Seonghwa ult is a gift that just keeps on giving. Finally Seonghwa has reached his rightfully deserved all-rounder status. I'm seriously so in love with him. Ever since "Dreamers" I begged the universe for rapper Hwa and now he's finally here for real. These last two albums have been the opening to Seonghwa's rapper era, I am CONVINCED.

Also Hongjoong is an insanely talented rapper! ❤️ The unit song I don’t any one ever expected, but now needed more then we ever knew! Most of us were expecting something cute and wholesome! I almost didn't survive just hearing the song on the album, especially when Seonghwa's deep voiced rap came in. But when the MV dropped, that was a whole experience... Hongjoong was friggen amazing as always.. but Seonghwa came for us. I always knew he had this in him, but hearing and seeing Rapper Hwa in full form... I was not ready, it was a long time coming and I'm living for it!

Yup actually they said seonghwa was actually audition as a rapper but ended up a vocalist just like what seonghwa we know now in ateez😊 And yeah it is a unit song in their album Matz (Hongjoong, seonghwa) and it said in tge title their names its just that in hangul/korean and we will be getting a mv for the other unit to It's you (San, yeosang, wooyoung), Youth (Yunho, Mingi) , Everything (Jongho).
Like someone else mentioned, Seonghwa rapped in Bouncy so you definitely have heard him rap before (also the guides had clips), he also had a grill in in Bouncy like he does here.

this was a great reaction! hongjoong being a chaotic gremlin is so real lol. other people have added some song context for you so i'll just say, seonghwa also raps in bouncy, dreamers, and be my lover. i would also consider what he does on many bsides rapping, like arriba for instance.
seonghwa is in the demon line for a reason! he really is a great actor and puts his all into performances. :)
