@@mitchellhou5102 88 rising didn't really work out for her, she was kept under the radar for a long time. Actually being independent now in China actually is creating her more exposure internationally.
She gots a lot of fans in China, she mixed mandarin and English perfectly in her rap
The reason why most Chinese music talent not yet reach the international market is that they already make lots of money in China, it is a huge market there to satisfy, so they might just make money there and worry about the international market later on.

i still remember her as "Liu Wei Wei" from Kpop Star. She came a really long way. So glad she didn't sign up to be a kpop trainee. She wouldn't be able to express her creative freedom the way she does now if she got signed to some Korean music label.

why....? most well off Chinese kids go to international schools in China. they all have an American/British accent when they speak english (depending on if it's an American Intl or British Intl).
if you go to any top 20 school in the US, you'll meet TONS of Chinese international kid speak FLUENT english with an American accent even though they never spent any time in the US.

Lol, I feel the same about Kpop that they tend to perform what's being taught instead of making their own music or choreo. It's just so rare to find self-producing/composing kpop artists, so I think she's making a good decision to self-produce.

What's this girl's background? She's is like 1000% fluent in English and mandarin!?
She is from China but came to New York( Fordham university) for her college. There are a lot of proper fluent in English and mandarin in China but the mainstream music industry there doesn’t really have anyone like Lexie.
spent her first 17 yrs in Changsha, China and then came to Fordham U in Midtown NYC for maybe 1.5 yrs. Her English is definitely extremely impressive but it came with no doubt that she came from Yali High School which is one of the top high schools of entire China.

Manta is my fave as well. Even though, as a project overall, Hide & seek is a stronger song and her best production in my opinion. I think it's plain to see and hear that she's been working hard on her sound as it comes across unique and distinict, the kind of style you say that's Lexie. Also I really like her stance on music production overall, I think you got to be selfish when it comes to your music. If it doesn't sound as you want it to, then it's not right and you should'nt go for it.
