Lisa! you are heaven sent! i refuse to bnuy a smartphone or laptop without your review.....lol
there was a great deal on this laptop today and I reluctant ly going to buy the surface pro 4.....i just cant get over buying the type cover separate from the the tablet. Plus I wanted an i7... well, the asking price simply was too difficult to swallow. I got the i7 version with 1920X 1080...256GB just off lease from Lenovo for $637! Thanks to this review, I feel like I won one for the poor man! I am just a college English professor who grades a lot of papers.... more than enough for me.....lol

Well. The anti glare film was not glued on very good, there where some air bubbles inside, so i ripped it off. Unlike other Thinkpads this one is not protected against spill damage, so be very careful not to damage your interiors. If that is the case it is on the other hand very easy do disassemble and replace the motherboard for example with spare parts. The Yoga 12 is very solid when it drops off your desk or else. No major damage so far. Once i fell on my backpack with a Longboard in full speed. the Yoga 12 dampened my fall. Worked afterwards as if nothing happended. There was a little bit of bending as a result tho. Touchscreen with certain programms such as microsoft one note is very annoying as soon as it bugs out, when you fiddle around with it too much. A party of touching dots and input commands on one Region of your screen is the Result. Thing runs 24/7 for a few years now. So far i would have bought it no matter the contras.

    Hi Lisa,
I just bought a thinkpad yoga 12 recently and I am pleased with the performance. However I just can't get used to the windows 10 and I want a downgrade at windows 7 without losing the license. Do you know if it is possible? and if yes how it would affect my thinkpad?
    Thanks in advance.

@MobileTechReview Thank you so much for the reviews! They are very helpful! I have a few questions:
1.) Is the S1 model very different from the 2nd generation?
2.) If yes, is the upgrade to intel Broadwell, Intel7265AC WiFi, and Windows 10 worth the price hike? (i.e. is the ability to get signal for wifi going to make a noticeable difference?)
3.) Are there any other concerns I should have about the 1st gen models?

    • @SasCologne
      @SasCologne 9 лет назад

+mhswrsler Another thing to consider: If you want to use the trackpoint, you'll want the 2nd gen because it has seperate buttons for them.

Hi Lisa!! A very helpful and thorough review. I just have a question. So, only recently I bought this same exact ThinkPad (Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 2nd Gen) and mine definitely came with a small stylus. However, I'm an artist and I'm looking for a bigger and more comfortable Active pen that's compatible with my ThinkPad Yoga. Recently I bought a Lenovo Active Pen and unfortunately it didn't work. Any recommendations on which pens that work?

Hi Lisa, I've been going through pretty much all your laptop review videos, and I admit I am very impressed, I am a bit stuck however in terms of which laptop I should actually purchase. I'm a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student, and in dire need of a new laptop. I need to operate effectively in terms of supporting; Solid Works, AutoCad, CadCam software, Photoshop, Movie Editing software and the basic Office applications. Speed, durability, battery life, and a High Resolution display are key for me. Something not too heavy or very large, and can last at least the next 2-3 years of my College life. Any suggestions I'll greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

I still have my Inspiron, but I just got the Thinkpad as well.
Side by side comparison, the dell wins hands down with its screen, speakers, and pen-to-screen accuracy. The Dell and TPY both have 1080p displays, but the matte finish on the TPY really milks up the display, which is kind of a shame. The Dell's screen is a real treat to look at. The TPY wins in reliability & performance. It doesn't get the occasional hiccups the Dell gets from time to time.
The Dell uses a synaptics digitizer which is super accurate everywhere, but has a horrible range, so hovering takes a lot of concentration, and notetaking is very frustrating because the screen often responding to your palm. The Wacom digitizer has a farther range, and is MUCH more fluid and easy to take notes with, but accuracy suffers around the edges of the screen.
As far as I can tell, the Dell has only 1 pen available for it, the 750-AAGN, which works well but is built shitty, each one only lasts about a month before it breaks on me. The TPY has tons of pens available for it, hell even the pen on my Note 5 works on it.
The Lenovo also has better build quality, the Dell has developed a creak when opening the lid. Also the Lenovo clicks nicely into tablet mode and stays put, whereas the dell's screen is a bit floppy in tablet mode. They seem to have roughly the same battery life.
And lastly, Lenovo's keyboard is absolutely fantastic.
It's hard to say which machine is better; they each excel in certain areas and fall short in others. If notetaking is important to you, go with the TPY. If you just want a good, all around ultrabook for watching movies and occasional artsy stuff, go with the Dell ( look at the HP x360 as well)

    Hello,
My local computer store got in a wave of these computers in refurbished form. They are the I5/8GB/256SSD models with the FHD screens and the pens. They seem like solid machines and they tick a lot of boxes when it comes to what I want in a laptop given their specs and features. The store is selling them for $450 Canadian, which is about $345 US. If anyone knows the answers to these questions I would greatly appreciate it:
    1) At the selling price that I mentioned would you say that I would be getting good value if I purchased one of these machines? I guess they are now about 5 yrs old now so would I perhaps be better off buying something more current?
    2) Can you sign your signature onto PDF documents with the pen (An example of what to sign would be an application for a bank loan that is in PDF format)?
    3) Is this computer powerful enough to run audio recording software for creating rock or electronic music?
    Thanks.

Good review but again shows nothing about the power adapter, size, power rating, if it's proprietary or USB C etc. Even a photo would be nice. Last time on another model (L390 yoga) I went through the entire video without this info. I guess for this model it's not so important but on the L390 yoga which I ended up getting, the deciding factor was that it charges via usb c so no extra adapters/power bricks needed to be carried. Regardless well detailed video. I will give it a like.
