You smashed this build!👏 quick tip: If you put springtails in the emersed section, they’ll breed & become a natural food source for the fish, they’ll also help fertilise the substrate & keep mold away:)
Absolutely love it! I am very into the idea of a pallidarium as you can keep jumping fish such as clown killifish without worrying about the uglyness of having a lid on a traditional aquarium/ or losing the dimension of seeing the water from above.
"At first, I thought that combination of stones wouldn't work. But the angular ones become more part of the background, and the round ones part of the foreground. Super nicely done!"
I want to do something similar to this but want to use all the tank for water still but try and extend above alot more.... a little like the big shallow
I love the ferns on the cork background....great video ... will be excited to see its development. Thank you for the care you put into all your videos. This one was my companion for my morning coffee on a sunny early fall morning in Vermont :)
Oh wow looks incredible MJ 👏🏼🥰 Now you’re hooked can you explore your country side areas with streams where you can collect up some ingredients, add to one of your nano tanks and see what happens? Day trip with the your partner 💞 Explore
Loved this episode! Wio has the most comprehensive hardscape offering out there! Their products are top notch from what I’ve managed to get my hands on. The end result was truly spectacular!
Hi Mark, Greetings from Scotland. Love your paludarium which looks absolutely fabulous. As always, it's a pleasure watching your videos. Keep up the good work. 😊
Looks fantastic MJ. I love all the ferns. Hope it brings you much enjoyment. Hmmmmmm, I wonder if I could get away with buying another aquarium by telling my husband " oh no dear, its not another aquarium, its my first paludarium!"😂
@@justin94431 I really like the very open rimless paludarium look with the low front, the functionality with the holes in the back and it's also the only "real "paludarium tank available here in my country
@@justin94431 In my experience almost all stem plants can grow out of water- Hygrophilia Polysperma, Rotala Green, H'ra, Macandra etc., Pogostemon erectus. Sometimes they do and sometimes not. I guess it also depends on how hard the plant's stem is. But if you buy them immersed (grown out of water), then it's only the lower part of the plant that has to convert to water - havent done that though
Thats a mind blowing paludarium build. I could keep looking at it all day long. The underwater section can have some more livestock as well! Wio decor is so good... I was also observing some nice Echinodorus in your other tank 😅 cool!
I came into aquascaping by way of terrarriums and paludariums so its really cool to see one of my fav youtubers trying it out! it looks amazing and Im so glad youre enjoying it.
wow i cant believe i never noticed the shirt the first time i watched this, and i love how your on-camera persona literally never cusses despite wearing that lol
Hey Mark , A few days ago I recommended your video from June 25 from your visit to Portugal!! I have been anticipating my First Paludarium style for a few years , and after seeing that 1st shop you visited 😲it has been running through my mind !!! Everything about the way they were setup to me is so perfect . I think it's the time to allow it to get established and making little improvements along the way & now I'm thinking about what you created with the huge display bowl 🏆 As always I have commented before I have started the video which is a hell of a way to start my morning!!!!
That turned out amazing! I've actually been gathering supplies to make my first paludarium, but it will be smaller. My friend gave me an old 5 gallon tank (I need to get the hard water stains off it). Since I live in Florida, I am going to use plants like moss, ferns, and air plants that I find in the yard all the time. I hadn't considered a cork background, but that looks really nice and natural. I love that soil you used, so cool that you can mold it to fit wherever you need it!
@@CGLFishing Oh, that's interesting! I have caught lots of fry along the edges of the river, but they're always tilapia. I'll have to get into the weeds next time. I want to go out searching for aquatic plants in the spring, that would be a good time to look.
Dat ziet er mooi uit. Die grote stenen zijn die echt. Binnenkort ook maar eens wat drijfplanten in 1 van mijn aquariums doen want het licht is te sterk van de Juwell
It’s a very attractive setup, esp. the combinations of colors and shadings is very nice. After searching on the WIO homepage I didn’t find the cork parts you’ve used in your setup, are they NL only? Thx for an answer and greetings from Austria.
i have a question i want to make a palladium with a water fall or stream but i have a co2 system connected to my canister filter. i want to use my canister outlet as the waterfall would that waste my co2? or do i need to but a water pump for the waterfall? thank you in advance for any advice.
Love this video man! I'm an aquascaper and venturing into more emersed is something i'm really excited about! Tell me, despite the humidity control, what do you do to keep the cork wall and it's soil moist? do you spray maybe or a mister? Thanks for all the videos again, love it
The site says to preserve your sticky soil when you use it, cover it in moss. Otherwise the soil will dry out. Crazy stuff I want to try it. Wish this company delivered or better was in the states.

Such a beautiful paludarium aquascape
Thanks MJ
"At first, I thought that combination of stones wouldn't work. But the angular ones become more part of the background, and the round ones part of the foreground. Super nicely done!"
The “v” shape of the cork looked so good, like a log cracking apart and collapsing into the water - so cool. This whole tank is gorgeous
I’ve used Wio for a few tanks now. Excellent stuff.
Just WOW. 😮 Those Wio River kits are something else! Very nice! 👍
I want to do something similar to this but want to use all the tank for water still but try and extend above alot more.... a little like the big shallow
The balance in this aquascape is spot on. Nature in a glass box!😍
I love how your narration overlayed the video of everyday life living with and caring for fish. Wonderful!
great result! i think adding a few springtails on the soil would help the plant even more
Amazing I'm just starting to do my first 60 litres for shrimp just not sure what filter I should use I don't like sponge ones what you will recommend?
Great work, I just did one vivarium for my wild Betta, liking the overhanging terrestrial plants.

Sounds great 😌 enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Just finished saving up for a salt water macroalgae set up, now I need a paludarium as well.
😬😬
The sticky soil is really cool, I have to try it sometimes soon! Very nice layout, I love it!

I generally prefer aquariums not paludariums, but your scapes are always gorgeous
One of the best videos I've watched in a while and best use of products. Truly amazing

My fish thank you, watching your uploads inspires me to get creative, well done.
looks fantastic. thank you for inspiring
What do you do with the fish from previous set ups?
I think he said he culled all the fish , I'm dismayed as well. Hopefully that's not what he said
He said he culled (killed) them
Amazing scape I really love that river style und the floating plants. Keep it up
Beautiful…LOVE THIS…my fav out all your setups thus far…🥰❤️

That was satisfying to watch! It came together almost effortlessly!
Technically, there is no land area. This is considered a riparium at best. The ratio of land to water determines the type of vivarium you have.
Looks amazing my friend! Now I have to see if WIO ships to the USA!
Wonderful paludarium MJ!
That is stunning MJ
with a set up like this you should add something that can go in the water and in land not sure what but that would be a cool idea

Is the cork background a new product? I couldn’t find any backgrounds or cork products on their website.
Yeah the cork should be on the website in the next few days
Here we go! www.wio.eco/decor/hardscape/cork
How did you pump the filter with the water level so low? I'm building a paludarium too and I have problems with it
I basically made the outflow longer by using some spare parts that came with the canister filter (Oase filtosmart 300)

Old comment I know but bring in Florida you should also look for some pygmy sunfish for that tank!

If Wio was available here in the states i would be broke 😂

I've setup several aquariums since the pandemic but no paludarium/riparium yet. Time for a new project!
One if the best tanks you have made, i must say! :)
It's so beautiful💚
inspirational work. beautiful
wow wow wow, that paludarium looks amazing! keep up the good work youre spreading the inspiration on this platform mate
Love all your scapes mate your a true artist. Think you should get musk turtle in there
I wish they would ship to US or we had similar here. You guys are spoiled with options 😊.
