    As a few people have stated you do not need to take the tire off. I only did it just so I could get my camera and show a better picture for you guys

    The placement of that jack stand is not going to help you if that hydraulic jack gives away.

    Hey dude, I drive a Subaru and know nothing about Nissan's but I stopped by your channel after seeing your comment in StephanieDrift's and come to support a fellow fan! Nice work on the install for the alternator. I ain't even this knowledgeable mechanically so I respect that bro. Keep it up! + Subscribed!!

    I replaced my alternator last year. Got a 1996 2.4l 5 speed hardbody. 200k miles. The alternator and thermostat were OEM.

    If you took a second Jack and raised the body up by the front bumper it probably would have given you plenty of clearance to remove the alternator. I would also mention that that missing flap is probably responsible for hastening the death of your alternator with dirt and grime. I wanted to note that, it appears on my 97 that I can remove that skid plate and go in from underneath as well .
    I criticized you so now I'm going to praise you, you did a good job without a bunch of fumbling around... and held a camera. Your video probably will help me. I've never changed anything on this truck and I'm not familiar with it.

      Haha I got ya.m and yea u could prob go from bottom too. Prob more room that way but in ease of video thought it would be better angle to show it that way. And na the missing flap prob didn't affect the life of alt cuz it was actually the original factory alt.. over 20 yrs old.. over 200,000 miles on truck.. that's very good life

    Good vid.
    I just replaced my alt on my 92... It has same power steering lines as you...
    I didnt have to move the lines away.. itll come out if you rotate and angle it when pulling out..
    It helps to take off and then replace the wires when it is unbolted and off the mount, before the PS lines.. This way you can see it from the opening and not potentially damage anything while its at a bad visual angle.
    I have heard you can do this with the tire cocked way over to the right so as to get to the opening.. but it gives way more room with it jacked and blocked up...

      Yea u def can do it without taking off tire. I did it for more room and to just get a camera in there

      I would like to thank you for your video. You helped me and my 15 year old son change out the alternator on the 96 Nissan my husband drives. Hubby was in a foul mood due to having to take my van and get a tire replaced on it. So I searched up videos and found yours. We worked for 3 hours and got it changed. Not bad at all for 2 amateurs. Thank you for guiding us! Thank You! Thank You!!!!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE! I’ve been looking all over for info on how to do the power steering belt cause some people were saying it was a self tensioning pulley but couldn’t see that and someone told me the tensioner was an idler pulley which made no sense to me but legit thank you.

    I'm confused, your title reads alternator swap but all I see is radiator.

    did you have to remove all the belts to get the alternator belt off?

    • @backintogear9071
      @backintogear9071  7 лет назад +1

      i think just power steering.. then next belt is alternator

    • @backintogear9071
      @backintogear9071  7 лет назад

      Dodtbdm if your belt was still decent you could actually just leave it in there

      @suckslip 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks. Went out to look at the truck and I only have one belt. Don't have power steering. :)
