Joe Rickard, the new "In Flames" drummer since 2016. He is a young and talented musician who plays in his own style for the Swedish Melodic Death Metal band. Joe may tell you a lot about band history - he already played in bands like The Wedding, Red, Starset and Manafest.
This is the song “The End” of the current In Flames album “Battles” which was released in 2016. The live audio was recorded at the “In Our Room” tour at Freiheizhalle Munich.

It's just the recording. It's a live situation with a huge wall of sound going on, so only the loudest peaks of the cymbals register on the recording.

Yeah you’re right. Either it’s the mix, but it sounds more like he’s playing cymbals with more attack and not a lot of sustain. Their sound guy must absolutely love that.
