"Margerine Eclipse" is my fave Stereolab's Lp and it's beyond the pale how underrated this masterpiece is. Definitelay in my top 10 of the decade.

What I love about them is that they're just like, this is our 31 song album of songs we're working on right now. Nothing is the "best thing we've ever done" it's all just like, what they were doing at the time. To me they seem disconnected (which they are an ex-couple) but like....the music is still something they're doing. Reminds me of cool divorced parents lol, they have this kid (their music) but they're not pressing anything on the kid, not trying to make it 'be' any certain way, still care for the kid, maybe it's not the most "passionate" point in their existence, but they keep the music alive and do their best to give it a way to be in the world

5:05 "I wouldn't put Peng!" The truth is that Tim doesn't like the early Stereolab albums much. He has said many times that he wasn't very happy with how the first 4 albums turned out. His favorites are Cobra & Phases and Sound-Dust, so no surprise.

They are amazing. Check out some of the stuff you tube live to from 1994-2000. (Preferably with Ms. Sadier in tune). At their best, they were incredible.

Operator151 to be fair, at this time, most media outlets were barely stepping up their production for RUclips videos back then. It seems like only a few short years later they finally realized that a lot of people were watching and invested more resources into them.

chiangui24 That really sucks. I have learned a great deal more about Stereolab since I posted that comment, and I really hate the fact that Mary Hansen died so young. She and Laetitia Sadier made a magical vocal duo that I think is one of the top few greatest vocal duos in the history of recorded music. Their phenomenal voices were perfect for each other. I'm sure Tim and Laetitia's writing had something to do with that, but it will be a long time before two voices come together like Laetitia and Mary's did. That is some mind-blowing stuff.
