It's a staged video. The bear has been trained. The cameraman is way too close for comfort, and the guy is climbing that tree like an eldery person.

That was my first thought as well. If this were a real situation I'd be way more frantic about getting up that tree as quickly as possibly. Especially trying to get my feet up and out of the way as fast as I could. But this guy was slow and not doing any of that. Also, the fact that someone was just casually filming the whole thing and doing didley squat to help is another big red flag.

That’s more true of black bears. Grizzlies can climb but due to their size and the size of their claws they aren’t able to climb the way black bears are. It isn’t the first technique you are supposed to do to get away from a grizzly but it is a last ditch option especially if you can get high enough up to the smaller branches. Black bears can run up trees seemingly at full speed though. Either way, terrifying lol

That's not a grizzly because they would be dead if it were. They will eat anything in their path. That's a brown bear they're not opportunistic hunters like grizzlys they prefer their prey not fight back so generally things much smaller than they are and they don't really like confrontation so anything closer to its size like a human that fights back it generally avoids. Also grizzlys don't climb things they're far to big to even try but they sure can take down a tree if it wants what ever is at the top.

If youre confronted by a grizzlie the first thing you should do is make yourself appear as big and threatening as possible, hold your arms above your head and make a lot of noise, if that does not work lie down and pretend to be dead. Brown bears do not eat humans outside of extreme situations where they are clost to starvation which isnt a very common thing for brown bears to be due to their omnivore diet.

Adult grizzly bears can climb trees, but usually they don't because they are big and fat and branches break under them and they fall down. This tree had only thin branches, they would break under bear's weight, in addition they were growing in a way that was blocking the way up for something big and heavy like a bear.
Pretty confident that’s a trained bear. Camera guy was feeling pretty safe and that bear was pretty passive. Dude also didn’t look scared enough.

@@AngiArredondo Grizzly bears eat all sorts of things. That's why they don't often immediately go to attack people, they have other options. Unlike polar bears which are much more aggressive because they strictly eat meat

Most of the time they're just looking to eat and feed their families in peace. Like here in Pennsylvania, they root through the garbage. But if they start drawing too much attention, they'll walk away. They don't want any problems. They just want to eat. This particular bear was probably just curious. Couldn't have been that hungry because he could have easily just grabbed that ankle and pulled the guy down. Bears eat whatever they want. Kind of like Queen daenerys's dragons lol. I always wondered what would happen if there were as many chimpanzees and bears in the world as there are humans. Humans would most likely come out on top thanks to our technology. But I would have to guess that more than half of the human population would be killed off first. And probably within the first year.

Lol, you try climbing a similar tree with hiking boots quickly and come back to revise your answer! Grew up climbing trees at home, best traction is obtained barefoot. In larger radius trees like the in the video where you can't easily grasp around the stem, it becomes an arm only affair with whatever branches are available and nooks for your boots!
