I’ve taken this week off it’s just too much in the heat and there is a banning tools this week. Hopefully next week it’s cooling down a bit, thanks for the support
Congratulations 🎊 👏 Just a suggestion. Build a big shade over the caravan to protect against sun and rain and extra outdoor living space. You won't regret it.😊
Stay safe and take a rest. It's very hot, be careful with the heat, wear hats, sunscreen and drink lots of water, avoid the hottest hours during the day.
I’ll have to look at the receipt as I bought loads of different sizes at the same time, it worked out a lot cheaper than doing it in wood but I used wood at the front to give the illusion of a wooden structure
A warning for you. I found that mint takes off. It will take over your garden. It is best kept in a pot (as big as you want) to keep it contained. Great idea to get rid of the brambles easier. It will help you keep on top of any new shoots so that you will eradicate them quite quickly. We put a couple of tiny bells on a collar to prevent our cat getting any wildlife. My husband loves his birds. I thought we got hot weather here in Australia but Portugal beats us hands down. Hard to work in. You may get the siesta habit. Work early mornings and maybe late afternoons. Don't kill yourselves in the first year. Best wishes.
Hi there great set up when is your new video coming all the best I I want to purchase a small property with little piece of land I am planning on taken a van do you think I can bring a trailer from Northern Ireland 🇮🇪
@@portugaloffgridvanlife778 very good ideas cheers I love your setup I know iforwillams trailers are good where you able to fit much stuff in your caravan I love the floating platform and porch looks the bees knees you can pain a 4 inch pipe black to heat the water in the sun ☀ for your bathroom keep up the good work
Cheers! I’d like to offer some advice for you that may help with building your channel. 1) change the name ( The world does not need another “ Off Grid Anything“ Just be yourself, it’s about you and your life. 2) invest in a microphone AND a wind sleeve. 3) slow your camera movements ( very difficult and unpleasant to watch as camera brow is spinning around. 4) use a tri pod as much as possible. Try not to point the camera in the direction of the sun. 5) Slow down. Relax. It may be better until you are done for the day or at least caught your breath before speaking to the audience. Sorry, but I just think that the creators may not consider what the final experience is for the viewer.
I appreciate the feedback, to be honest the videos can be a bit rushed as I struggle for time, I’m definitely getting a bit better but they’re definitely some valid points, thanks for the advice, I’ve got all the gear but I need to start using it more 👍 and slow down camera movements
Agree with points given. As for me I have been following about 10 off-grid couples and singles. As for me I really enjoy watching off-grid RUclipsrs, but I avoid those that waffle a lot. Yes, it’s good to explain what you are going to tackle, briefly explaining what materials and methods you have in mind. But to watch everything in detail, I click off. Use time lapse and keep your camera in the shade on a tripod. Good video so far. Thanks Now 80% shade cloth over your pole structure will cool down your caravan and plants, patio etc. If it rains at night while you’re sleeping it should not wake you up, not like tin roofs. But a tin roof has a wonderful benefit because you can capture all the rain water into a water tank for domestic use and gravity feeding your vegetables through pipelines 12 inches underground to keep the water cool when watering your vegetables, plants and fruit trees. Building a round reservoir (not square) at the highest point on your property would be ideal. Can’t wait to watch your progress.
@@tomprice2501 thanks so much for the lovely feed back I really appreciate it 😉👍 I love doing the videos just struggle finding the time to do them 😜 things are taking more shape so I might just do a quick tour of the land in the next video and show the progress uk to date, I was also thinking of showing we we get up to in our free time, there’s so much going on all the time here
We bought directly from the land owners and cut out the estate agents, you can find around a hectare for under 30,000 but it’s quite tough to find something with an urban article or habitation license
@@derekcrane7945 I actually purchased 3 separate plots which came to a total of 19,500 euro plus solicitors fees and taxes which were around 2000 total for all 3. We have spent roughly another 20,000 buying and transporting caravans and on building materials etc and I’ve spent roughly 1000 euros in helpers including João with the digger and David with the tractor, it’s obviously gonna cost quite a bit more but our savings have now run low so we will just have to do extras as we’re working and going along.
We actually do have an urban habitation but I do have friends who don’t and I know there are a lot of people who don’t and they are good people, everyone is trying to make the best out of life as they can, it does not make them bad people. We however said right from the start that a habitation was a top priority, we are completely off grid though 👍
@@portugaloffgridvanlife778 Yes, it makes them bad people because they betray the Portuguese state and at the same time they are benefiting from it. They use our good health care services, roads and other infrastructure. And when there are wildfires they expect to be protected by our firefighters. Watch youself in the heat.
Coming from cold country.....extra cautious.
Locals work early morning and late afternoons.
Siesta midday. Take the tip.
Thanks 😉👍 I’ve been trying to start at 6 and finish by midday but this week I’m off 👍 way too hot 🥵😂😜
Awesome start. Slow down in that heat for sure.

Sunscreen is making cancer it's better to cool down in the sea or river beach or swimming pool 😇💗💗💗.
How much dose steel beams cost? I need roof rafters for a agricultural building and i wont use wood, is steel cheeper?
