- "Foggy Dew" is the name of several Irish ballads, and of an Irish lament. The song chronicles the Easter Rising of 1916, and encourages Irishmen to fight for the cause of Ireland, rather than for the British Empire, as so many young men were doing in World War I.

Great song! Here in Serbia, we know this heroic song from our band "The Orthodox Celts" who introduced wonderful Celtic music to us. And we love it very much!
We fought together in WWI on the Thessaloniki front! There are stories about the Irish 10th division, your bravery, and your efforts to protect our army in retreat, trying to evade the complete surrounding by the German, Austrian and Bulgarian armies, which we appreciate strongly. Eventually, after horrifying casualties, we managed to escape, recover and return to the battlefield, where we broke the enemy forces and pursued them all the way from our lands until they surrendered and capitulated.
We fought for our country, and for our freedom, for our families and homes far away behind the front lines. We are thankful to you, dear and brave Celts. We are sorry that you fought for British Empire, so far away from home, but I can't explain how grateful we (the Serbian people) are.

P.S. I actually wanted to ask you for some instructions on how to use these tabs, but I was carried by strong emotions to write all that. :) Could you share also the guitar chords for non-skillful us?

I want to play my whistle to this but I don’t know when I’m supposed to come in. Is it right when the music starts?
It was hard to mark, but you do the first 2 notes on the 1 count (that’s the 4th beat) as half’s. That means you play them before the music starts.
