Hmmm, interesting experiment. The unwitting participants just might need counseling after their experience. Thank goodness humans aren't on their menu....yet. 🌱
10:20 I had 2 baby racoons & mom come by my front yard CP pool this year. She looked like she was trying to teach them to wash up in the water & they proceeded to eat all the Sarracenia's pitchers that had bugs & uprooted a VFT & a few Sar's. Mom loitered for around 5 minuets before leaving & they took off after her. All the roots/rhizomes were intact, so no casualties. I also have rats running through & occasionally testing plants in my backyard pools. Might have been rats instead of mice, but it's hard to tell by the marks.
Ah come on man, pieces couldve been smaller hahah so none are sticking out. Wouldn't that mess up the trap itself if it doesn't close all the way? Did you label all the flytraps with the food you gave? I want to see updates!!!! This is interesting 🤔🤓
Yes, this was an interesting experiment! And yeah, I got to work on my feeding skills. I'll post a follow-up video in a month. One of the traps with Oreo recently opened up. Stay tuned!
I'm not surprised that the VFTs had trouble with the chunks of pseudomeat that you stuffed into them. They probably wouldn't do well if you stuffed them with the largest possible insects that could fit into their traps, either. Last year, I tried VFTs with tofu, whey protein, and textured vegetable protein. *Small* amounts, only a bit larger than the protein equivalents that I estimated from insects of a size that they could trap. The one on whey protein did okay, the one with textured vegetable protein did a bit better, and the one I gave tofu did amazingly well. It went from a small plant to a large one, and flowered. Now I'm waiting for its seeds to grow, so I can have a reasonable comparison based on multiple plants. I did find that traps would die if I gave them too much food, but I figured that as long as they got more nutrition out of a feeding than the resources they expended, and had lots of sunlight, they were coming out ahead.
I totally concur, the same with idiotic vegan pet owners trying to turn their dogs/ cats into vegans. Their whole digestive system has evolved to be carnivorous. I consider this kind of thing to be a form of abuse.
As a vegan, and a fly trap grower (only a few so far) this was fun and fascinating!
Yes, it was a fascinating experiment. Glad you enjoyed watching it.

Love to see your guys videos on as many plant topics as you want* excellante'****
Along with peas, maybe try honey as well. Maybe they recognize the honey as food from eating bugs that eat nectar.

Interesting!!! I will continue the natural process outside in the sun. Still interesting!!
My venus fly trap caught a slug! I think it killed the trap, but the slug came out worse.
Fun video! Curious what led grow lights are you using?
I'll post a video about that in September. It's on my list of videos to do.
What about those floating reptile sticks would that be safe?
Cool idea.
So why not just mist the plants every now and then with diluted fertilizer water. Wouldn't that be the same?
A Plant eating a plant
You got it! A vegetarian carnivorous plant!
Is the type of VFT that had the Oreos a DC XL ?
Thank you for watching the video. That was actually a typical random form.

Hello sir! Can I possibly feed my vft with fish food pellete? Thank you!
Thank you for watching. It's possible. We haven't tried it but heard of other growers doing it.
Interested in experiment. It sounds like broccoli was compatible with the fly trap. What's not mentioned is whether any spurts in growth occurred.
Thanks for watching. We plan to redo this video at some point.
Will a VFT grow in coco coir and perlite as a medium?
Thank you for watching. Unfortunately, VFTs don't grow well in coco coir. It's not acidic enough and it breaks down too quickly.
Aw! Poor plant! Making it be a cannibal! 😂😂😂😂
And candy! One guy fed his a piece of jelly bean & successfully. Who'd have thunk it?🤣
Cool!!!
After the peanut butter, the trap's like, 🤐 Hmff.
The part where he feeds the trap broccoli that’s plant cannibalism
Glad it is "P" protein from the plant!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for clarifying.
Glad to see you were cooking with chopsticks 👍
Idk about you but my Lowe's Venus fly trap already eats herself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love science
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching.
The vegan demand for these plants just exploded
i am surprised you didn't feed any peas. peas are famously loaded with protein. Maybe next time?
Thank you for watching! We plan to redo this video, so thanks for the suggestion.
Love this !! Makes total sense. I'm vegan so I will try this the next time I have Flytrap plants.
🥦🥦🥦
Are you vegan?
Clout makes you do weird stuff
Incredibly pointless thing to do. These plants aren't designed for this. I would think a wide known nursery like yourselves would know this.
Thank you for watching our video! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
True, but people (some are idiots) will test out things like this, and I’d rather see an honest experiment. I agree with your assessment! VFT abuse!
@@jeanettehaygood4154 abuse?
@@user-ic8kn6by6m feeding weird things is not good for the plants. Really just a facetious comment.
are you trolling? it’s just an experiment, it’s not like the plant is sentient
Hope this is a joke, the plants evolved to catch insects. Mankind tries changing everything to suit agendas pfffff

They have special enzymes to digest the chitin in the insect. This makes no sense. They are evolved to process insect protein
