I haven't read that duology yet. I've been putting it off for a long time. I just haven't felt the urge to get back into that world yet. Now that you say it seems like it's open ended, it makes me want to just wait and see if Leigh Bardugo puts out a new book for that world. She already put out other books unrelated so maybe she needed a little break from them and will get back to it for 2025? Right now I'm about 65% in to The One by John Marr and it's definately different. It's a dark sci-fi thriller which I didn't realize before I grabbed it. I like it more than his last book that I DNF The Stranger in her House. That one is about a woman who was taking care of her mother suffering from Alheimers and some random dude started to take over her life. It just wasn't my jam. I know too many people who suffered from that and the thought of people taking advantage of the elderly rubs me the wrong way so I stopped into chapter 8 I think. That was the second book I DNF for September. I still finished a ton of books though so I don't feel bad about it. I did push up my yearly reading goal and if I hit that I am NOT raising it again. Switching over to 95% audiobooks and them mostly being between 9-20 hrs lets me get through a lot. That is why I thought maybe I would spend Dec reading the big boys like Jay Kristoff and it wouldn't matter how many I read once I meet that goal. I would like to read more Oct feels books though and put fantasy and dark romance aside for the month. I'm such a mood reader though. We'll see how it goes.

I honestly wouldn't bother with it. I think it's smart to wait to see if she puts anything else out before reading these. They really don't add much to the existing world.
I really loved The Family Experiment by John Marrs so I'm dying to read The One (even though I know the spoiler).
I've definitely been listening to a lot of audiobooks recently too.

I just finished the adventures of Amina al sarafi. I enjoyed it but I don't think it's a quick read. I have a light reading month but I did get through call down the hawk, which I also really enjoyed.

I'm super glad you said it wasn't a quick read because that gave me more time to read it haha. And you were definitely right

    1. I’ve always wanted to go to outer banks! I’ve had friends go and say it’s nice!!
    2. Huh I liked Not In Love a lot. I didn’t find it so much “erotic”. Like yeah more sex but omg I recently read “court of the vampire queen” that I would classify as erotic. (Also don’t read it. It’s cringe at best) but idk I saw fmc as like being possibly neurodivergent also major attachment trauma, which I relate to highly! (Tho not to her level) so I really loved it and felt the characters were great! But I guess that’s just everyone’s different life experiences!
    3. Ooooh I loved the adventures Amina al Sirafi, can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
