- Identity Fraud was a horror game on roblox that made it's debut in early 2016, and has been remembered as one of the best horror games of all time in Roblox. But as Doors gained a big update, I decided that it's time to take a look back at what came before it: Identity Fraud.

you should review eternity in lost dreams, its an extremely good dreamcore game, with the atmosphere actually feeling like a believable dream, and having in my opinion, the best story of any roblox game.
the gameplay does have a bit of walking, but play with some friends or getting in a call can solve that. i hope you'll really like the game as i did

i remember when this game randomly just got like 20k players out of the blue (this was before doors was released), it was so strange and it didn't last very long but, since im a fan of the game i was pretty happy about it. also u should've mentioned the disco room lol

im a few months late but i was binging some of ur other vids and came across this DOORS themed one, and i gotta say even though we didnt purposely take inspiration from IF i was definitely one of those kids in middle school who replayed the game every 3 seconds and i legit hated the ending so much that i would just leave and restart once i got to the morse code door cause it was too annoying to do the rest
i think IF deserves a fresh breath with some re-attempt at a sequel or remake, i definitely think the game could succeed in modern day roblox with some changes/polish or with more levels

IF was peak for its time i remember getting freaked out by stan cuz of him screaming outta nowhere, too bad the series is canceled leaving IF2 being quite unfinished (or thats a cliffhanger idk)

i always saw doors as a spiritual successor to identity fraud. i never was a fan of identity fraud though, it wasn't very well designed in my opinion.

The game actually got an *update* recently that completely revamped maze 2.
It's cool, makes maze 2 way more interesting.
(Also there's an actual ending room now but that's probably a bit older since it doesn't seem to actually acknowledge the maze 2 revamp)

As someone who joined roblox in the summer of 2016 at the age of 9, I never really got around to playing these older horror games, I was more set on tiny tanks (that game is dying for a sequel why haven't we gotten it yet sharksie) however I do remember getting into it around 2017/2018. One thing that sets me off about it is that fraud, the main monster and the one that the game is named after, doesn't really have a presence after the first maze, and the rest are quite generic, like why do people grapple to stan hes literally just scp-173. However I can forgive it as it at least tried to have some interesting gameplay, and did something more creative, like imagine another skin-walker type monster in a game, that actually is good at pretending to be a player.
Roblox horror games back then weren't very polished, but they had an idea and interesting gameplay concept. Stuff like light bulb, silent dark, ect. Nowadays all I see is mimic clones, shitty piggy knockoffs, camping games which are the absolute bottom of the barrel, and stuff like rainbow friends which I despise for bringing mascot horror, a generic, overdone format for horror games, onto roblox, a site built on the idea of imagination and creativity.
Even with games like doors proving you can make a good ass game on roblox (which mind you was inspired by like 3 different things at once) you have a bunch of asshats making shitty knockoffs and branding it as "parody" and "shitposts" so they wont get flack for ruining the roblox horror scene further. Seriously, you would not BELIEVE the amount of doors knockoffs that somehow get tons of players and videos made about them from youtubers. And while those games are popular, horror games with actual effort get like no players outside of a single video by a roblox horror youtuber.
I just miss when the horror scene was simpler, and there were real options, where we could just laugh at shitty area 51 games, then go back to playing something unique, something creative, instead of just having a million developers make shitty knockoffs of everything that gets popular, on roblox or off it, and overall just be filled with the same bland chapter based games that don't want to tell a story or spook us, just make money, I understand why this is, but I'm just tired of it.
Hopefully with games like isle, doors, and other decent to good horror games becoming popular, and these knockoffs not being as popular as they were in their prime, people will start to get the memo that we want more interesting horror games, and as kids grow up and roblox's target audience increases in age, more people will try to jump on the bandwagon before it takes off, making actually good horror games that strive to be unique. If only we had more youtubers like TheKacperosEN, and sircher before he left roblox.
If I were to recommend you any games, I'd suggest Turris Ascensionem, a myth game that has an excellent atmosphere, a very tense second half, and has some interesting themes that are understandable without having to read a million lore books, I just have a fascination with this game, and Draggy, the creator, also has a big catalog of games to play, so I'd suggest you play Turris, and maybe delve into the rabbit hole of Draggy: www.roblox.com/games/6501699011/unnamed

The reason Roblox horror games, including the successor The Mimic, are no longer popular is due to several factors:
- Lack of creativity among Roblox developers.
- Some of the games may not be scary at all.
- Some games lack a compelling story and backstory, making them feel less like horror games.
- They have significant flaws and are far from perfect. For example, the game Forgotten Memories is considered perfect due to its balanced gameplay. However, the lack of balance updates caused players to quit because it was unfair.
- Lack of major updates, unlike other renowned horror game developers.

Oddly enough, Doors feels less horror than Identity Fraud.
Doors is scripted to have events which always are the same. Monster come and hide in closet.
Identify Fraud has an randomness to it. Like you aren’t guaranteed to see some of the monsters. And you aren’t given an easy avoidance closet. Not to mention, it doesn’t even have jumpscares.

Its a mixture of both liking the games more and also just life was better back then. School and college weren't on your ass back then and you lived peacefully. That's kind of why going back and playing those games just doesn't do it for us anymore. Sad truth.
