I remember playing this when it first came out, it was really well made built compared to most horror games on the site, now that there’s more action in mimic clones than any of the Roses games :(

P.S: just out of curiosity (as in, this isn't something I absolutely want, per se), if you begin making games n' stuff with a more proper game engine, would you consider remaking Judy (if the original creator allows it), or would it remain a Roblox exclusive/you don't wanna continue working on it anymore? I'm sure you've heard this sentiment a lot, but it has a ton of potential, and upgrading the game to an engine that doesn't have as much jank as Roblox's does would really do a lot for it!
@@Breadian The worst thing about roses is that his creator later on made 2 popular tycoon games that despite being fairly popular and winning a lot of money from them, he never continued roses and alone again
I feel like back then (and still now) we only ever cared about how pretty a horror game was, not if it had good gameplay, dread, ect, ect.

Roses had a lot of potential to be scary if they had a bigger team, their downfall was 100% on them and if they had worked on it more it would’ve been bigger than most horror games on Roblox
Same thing they did for ALONE. It had alot of potentials for a great zombie game but NO. They just abandoned its fanbase and their ambitious project to follow the battle royale trend just to had it died in a few weeks

This game reminds me of old "horror" games that came out on Roblox back in 2009. They were all just walking simulators. Roses looks like a walking sim with better graphics.

I remember telling my family "Hey guys, don't worry if I scream! I'll just be playing a horror game" and then I ended up playing it quietly because there was nothing to really be scared about. Bummer.. that was years ago.

I remember buying access to this game back near when I first joined Roblox in 2017. I honestly thought it was fairly good for being a Roblox game and was hoping it would receive updates later on, but alas, it never did. No joke, it was probably one of the first Roblox games I played. Sad to see it be neglected like this

You’d be shock at the amount of abandoned buildings that still have running water or electricity. It’s not common, but it happens.
You’d think they’d at least have stripped all the by now metals though, the location was by no means secured. Unless everybody who went in died, which could have been a cool explanation had it been put in the game.
Back in 2017, i was bought Alone. Until now i still disappointed with developers for abandoned the game.
It'll be great if Roblox add a refund system where you can refund your purchased games to prevents scam like that. Like in Steam, the time limit to refund must below 2 hours gameplay time or 6 days after the game purchased.
I remember when this game was new, it's graphics were phenomenal at the time.
I bought access to it and I really enjoyed it but then they abandoned the game, just left it there and now it's broken. You can't view pages in the inventory anymore and the movement is even more clunky than RE1 tank controls. I just wish that someone would pick up the pieces and finish what Micheal started.

the game was surprising for his age, but now roblox is nuked with games with amazing graphics (and with an actually finished history)

I feel like this is kind of like a showcase. Heard it was good from their Discord, but when Ilooked further, i found out that the owner never updated the game and I was very disappointed.
the asylum is copied from a real place. look up Danver state hospital. they were so lazy that they copied a real place
I feel the ultimate nail in the coffin was the general lack of direction towards what to do with the game, they had a good foundation but didn't know where to take it. It's specially notable with the constant updates that changed aspects at random, and the updated version really not having much and being in a very blatantly unfinished state, it just felt like it was going nowhere.
I bought Alone years ago. When Alone fell through, I was so mad.

A lot of people don’t understand that if your games don’t do well your probably not gonna update/continue making them
And a lot people don’t understand how hard it is to make a game and how long it takes you can get burnt out easily when making games so you either give up on the project or release it in beta and never finish it it’s a long process just to make a simple fps game (without using toolbox stuff)

I vaguely remember playing roses once, straight up left because nothing happened, though I remember being VERY excited for alone (didn't buy because I didn't have robux at the time) so I just played the BR equivalent when it came around and was thoroughly disappointed, ended up forgetting about all of 'em because they never did anything with any of the games
sad that it was abandoned. It was a beautiful game and had great atmosphere that could've really helped the horror aspect. But most people prefer quick scares rather than stuff like this. It was unfortunately just a pretty walking sim.
I remember waiting months for this to come out of early access after I played it... It slowly just seeped out my memory over time. Disappointing seeing the outcome :(
I remember grinding on Alone and getting excited for Roses. They were both very well-built games with garbage gameplay design, but still kept me interested in the plot and game. I thankfully had enough of it once the battle royal game was released. It was obviously a ploy to hype on the trend. It's honestly a shame how much potential was thrown away with Roses and Alone though. I really enjoy watching your videos, I hope you keep making more (more into the horror aspect than the zombie genre lowkey).
after alone: battle royale, fillip and micheal went and made another game, adventure up, which was a dungeon crawler in the studio name "read, set,play!" (also abandoned for another title "ready,set,more!") it was an amazing game to say the least, BUT, it was ALSO ABANDONED FOR ANOTHER GAME, tropical resort tycoon. these 2 developers are just notorious for making good games, then abandoning them and running with the bag, and now they are making a tycoon. what a shame.
I played this as a young kid, and it genuinely scared the shit out of me. Genuinely I remember getting jumpscared by that one piano scene and leaving out of fright 😭

i loved roses when it came out and i was scared when i played it. a few weeks ago i bought it and saw that everything changed, nothing was scary anymore and i dont understand why they dont update anymore.
Clockwork entertainment story is just sad to be honest. Especially when you read their discord message on what happened makes you realize why they kept abandoning the projects and went for a battle royale. I think this should be an example to any upcoming roblox devs to not rely on donations or making it a full time cause chances are people are just gonna get bored of it because the lack of updates and communications.
I think we need more unique concepts in Roblox games, not scary mascots or stuff like that, but stuff like LIDAR, Owlman, and hell even Forgotten Memories (Not original, but it puts its own spin on the game and actually was really fun to play with friends) On a side note, we also need more co-op horror games like Forgotten Memories.
The games graphics and building are really, really good even today

Reminds me of Wanted. It had potential to be bigger than Jailbreak, but it stopped updating in anticipation for a sequel which never happened. It would be interesting for you to do a video on thatbgame
Reminds of a creator who wanted to make amnesia game during 2013 but never told its status about the game now then, Its hard to believe the game still in work of progress if its so outdated and ghost town groups of inactive old players makes me feel sad.
To me it seems like the devs intended the new version of roses to be more of a atmospheric exploration game with a bit of story and horror elements sprinkled in, similar to a game called INFRA, so trying to compare it to actual full on horror games is unfair. Though I do agree that charging robux for a unfinished game is scummy.
Edit: By the way, the devs moved on from Clockwork Entertainment and are in a new studio named "Ready, set, more!" that makes tycoon games, and they are pretty popular too.

One thing though, as Clockwork Entertainment and their games died, michael and filip changed their focus to another team, "Ready, Set, Play!". They made Adventure Up!, Tropical Resort Tycoon, Big City Tycoon, and Skate forever. Which honestly is just massive cashgrabs for children and less entertaining than ALONE or however fun ROSES could have been, but atleast you know they didn't disappear now.

@@noheffthing The problem is that Rose was a paid access game, and wasn’t finished (and I don’t think was made free once it was abandoned). Also, the guy keeps making games and then abandoning them; even simply saying in the description or wherever, “No more updates planned, not many people are playing so working on the game isn’t worth my time,” is better than leaving people in the dark.
Another thing to note is that Rose (and possibly Michael’s other games) are more polished in a build-sense than actual game design, as shown with Roses and Alone: battle royale. If he kept making games of huge scope and quitting due to lack of publicity/funding, than perhaps it would’ve been better to tone down the scope instead of trying to stick to it with resources you don’t have?

Game dev is an expensive endeavour if a game isn't making you the profits that you're deservedly owed then obviously you'd want to move on to a new project lmao? Also micheal is genuinely one of the most talented devs ive seen so while it makes sense to tone down the scope it doesn't make sense to blast him for trying to realise his ambition lol people be advocating for devs to make bigger more ambitious stuff and when they finally do they suddenly get flamed for it

I remember playing this back in 2016-2017 and having super high hopes for the game after playing scary maze and loving it, I checked it out a few months ago and was disappointed. :(
The trailer got me back then the only actual good scene was seeing max or idk getting dragged
Man I remember playing this when it first came out. Honestly back then I thought it was great but it's dissapointing how NOTHING was done with it after. Plus it wasn't very scary, but it was very pretty.
Now you gotta make a video on what happened to the roblox game Island/Island 2 which was the copy of the forest and the creator got banned like 3 times on different accounts.
its things like this which are the reason i dont announce to anyone that I've made a game until its done, half blox 2 was what made me hate people who announce games too early and never finish them. The fate of every good creative and different game usually ends up with the creator giving up.
I feel like this goes for really any sort of media you make. Games, writings, comics... don't spill the beans until you've got some good progress on it.

It definitely was one that got popular because of its visuals at the time, I never played much of it because horror isn’t something I’m good at for games but even I tried to play it for a bit.
I still remember buying alone for 100 robux then realising later it got reduced to 25 robux then the game got abandoned
I remember playing roses maybe around the age of 11. I expected an update around that time but it never happened, I’m 15 now but I’m very disappointed.. the game had potential
You should make a video on this other guy's game called "Alone." It's currently "abandoned" right now. But the latest update was a month ago, but he probably just opened it in studio and left idk. It was popular in 2016 or 2017, and many popular RUclipsrs played it. So I would recommend you making a video on it.

I once complained how they removed some parts and someone completely yelled at me pissed for asking such a question. The problem is that they alot REMOVED THE SCARY PARTS. The worst part is that you have to pay for this this for like a 5 minute game where nothing happens. ITS NOT EVEN FINISHED AND YOUR MAKING US PAY FOR A 5 MINUTE GAME. AND THEN THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO REMOVE THE SCARY STUFF FOR A GAME WE PAID FOR.
God i remember back in the day how i entered a lot of giveaways for robux and when i won one i inmediatly buyed roses, finished in like 20 or 15 minutes and then waited for a new chapter, and waited....
Silent Dark was a game to good to be true. I wish more people got to play it before it broke because of the Filtering Enabled update. Sad.
That’s why it’s so stupid when people say “it’s a roblox horror game, what do you expect?” There are numerous roblox horror games that are legitimately creative and good.
I spent 25 bobux on that game in hope of it being finished someday.

Well, they were actually humans that made the game, they couldn't spend money to hire other people cause they simply weren't paid that much
They had no job other than roblox, the robux they got had to be used for food & self-sustaining, what they should have done is save the money they had gotten, get small jobs and notify the players that within 3-4 months you will have enough money to invest into roblox & something on the side

I played this game in beta version in 2016 and I like it, so I expected more of it and waited for years only to discover that nothing changed at all.
Also; I already played chapter 1 and 2 and it's been a while since chapter 3 is released, so yeah.
If Michael could get a really good team then I'd really love to see him actually expand upon Roses-

Massive shame that Roses went in this direction. I remember the game being super scary back in the day. It looked spectacular, it had a great atmosphere, and had some good scares too. Really wish there was a way to replay the actual original singleplayer game because lots of old Roblox memories have been resurfacing for me and I would've loved to play it. There doesn't even seem to be many videos of it.

Yeah I too actually remembered playing this (and even DanTDM did I think), it's sad that it's discontinued for such a well constructed first person Roblox horror game because on how sh*t the developer eventually developed it...
Super late but I went to play this today for nostalgic reasons and I noticed it said the game had just been updated about a month and a half ago but I don't know what they changed honestly. I saw a tiktok forever ago saying someone was trying to remake the game but don't know how that's going.

I played roses when i was a big pokemon brick bronze fan, pokemon bb has flourished, got banned, and remade in the same time as roses hasnt changed.
I remember buying this game a few years ago, playing it, and then I started waiting for the rest to come out, fast forward to a few months ago, and I realized the developed completely stopped working on every single project he had. ALONE, the battle royale game that also just so happened to be called ALONE, and ROSES. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day wasn’t affected very much.

In summary, Michael made a good-looking game that was too ambitious and couldn't finish it along side other projects. Cool.
I think the best option is him giving the game to someone who will take care of it. And maybe finishing it.

I honestly got terrified of Roses back then, It was pretty damn horrifying to my 12 year old mind that disliked jumpscares and horror.
I really loved the way it was made though.
Same with Phantom Archive, it was a really good horror game, and it definitely would've beaten some of the most popular horror games on roblox currently. Damn. Sad it didn't work out.

This game was so f'ing good when I played it in 2017.
to be fair this is a first well known game that has turning into the let down honestly, chapter 2 and 3 so far isn't the best execution i must admit, it turns out like a big lazy project, overall the graphic and quality of the game was the only thing that is good, but the execution, nah.
although its been a long time since i didn't get to touch that game because of how bad it turn out to be.

The only good contribution this game gave was using the beautiful forest map in The Last Guest and partially in The Bacon Hair by Studio Oblivious

5:50 as I saw on their twitter they bought an apartman and a jeep. Anyway I really miss Alone. A lot of people bought it because they said we get ultimate prizes after they release the game but it never happened. Alone could be the best Apocalyptic survival game on roblox and they just abandoned it to make two tycoon and a skateboard game wich are good games but come on.
