- SERIOUSLY FUNNY EP #06 - Today's episode I talk with Canadian comedian Jason Rouse. I first met Jason in the UK in the mid 2000s. We've done tons of shows and festivals together all over the UK and Europe. Jason Rouse is a renegade touring stand-up comedian taking the mainstream comedy world and turning it upside down. Over the last decade, this comedy outsider has been sharpening his teeth in clubs and festivals all over the world. Jason has made it his mission to forge a new road and write a new chapter in stand up comedy. Middle of the road mainstream comedy is left for dead. Instead, this Jester from Hell has been unleashed onto international stages with all of the power of a derailed comedy freight train. Enjoy!

Good on ya Steve. Another great guest. I recall a gag Jason told about having trouble getting in to a restaurant because his dinner companion was a mannequin. I often think of that when I am in a restaurant and my other half won't stop talking about some brain numbing chick stuff.

I started a window cleaning round in Crouch End, back in the mid 90’s. First customer was a 100 year old lady in Cranley Gardens. Always made me a cheese sandwich. Her neighbour was a spiteful old woman and demanded I clean her windows too, for a pound. Window cleaning didn’t pay off for me. And I don’t like cheese. Then decided to try my luck at stand up. Hamstead on the heath open mic night. Terrifying. My best joke was about a garden leek…. Nobody laughed. I melted into the stage in fear. I thought, never doing that self-torture again, but, like an idiot, I did. Alas, hasn’t paid off. I’m an awful comedian. I’m only funny in my own head, in fact, my head is hilarious. See, I’m even thinking something funny now… I’ll keep that to myself 😂

I always find funny people my age or older saying they don’t like torture porn yet love death wish or evil dead, also people always say Texas chain saw massacre is always like a documentary when it’s such a technical film and almost like high art.
Favourite Possessed album, Stephen? Are you a Seven Churches man, or a Revelation of Oblivion man? I tend to side with the latter, good Sir.

Russian comedy sounds like German fine dining....
As an English man living in Germany, I can confirm the food is terrible (Apart from Grünkohl). But at least it has motivated me to learn how to make an authentic Indian curry.
