I've watched your videos for quite some time now, not many years after I began my journey in therianthrophy. I've been apart of the community for awhile and enjoy seeing us adapt new terminology to better fit every individual's experience, while still allowing everyone to only use what they feel properly describes themselves. There isn’t. In the past, “phenotypes” was used as umbrella term,and that still is deemed correct by many. Kintypes could be used as umbrella term, although it links directly to otherkin. Types or ‘types would be your best fit at this moment. I don’t feel like it has to be more precise than that personally however.

Trying to get answers and directions is like trying to pull teeth, so I'm asking this in as many places as possible. I can't make any kind of progress if I can't interpret what I'm feeling or say for sure if it is alterhuman or not. I need help, because I was only just informed of these terms yesterday despite having been looking for months. So, I keep seeing people say [otherheart/kithtype/synpath] is described like they are family or friends with the thing, but that isn't exactly what I feel, though I still do identify with it and have a strong connection to it. Rather, I feel like I in some way completely share a conciousness with a being who exists in an entirely different universe with a complete different life. We both view ourselves as eachother and share all of our thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, and lived experiences. Me, this part of the conciousness, however, is fully human, though I am deeply connected to the other part of my conciousness. They are not my family or friend, rather another me that I share a conciousness with. I do wish I could be united with them and take on their features, however I don't feel any dysphoria or phantom limbs or any of that (from my understanding, this is called shifing and I don't do it). It still does feel good to refer to myself as an elf and a dragon (and more specifically a MoonLighter) sometimes, for others to refer to me as such, and to wear things such as pointed ears and horns just casually. In a similar manner, the other me or other manifestation of my conciousness feels deeply connected to being human and identifies *with* humans despite not identifying *as* a human or being a human, as I identify *with* what they are rather than *as* what they are. If the multiverse is not real, then my conciousness has manifested another me in my mind that lives a completely different life, and this me is not me, despite me actually being human and identifying as such. I have always said it was like I was living 2 lives at once. I get to see through this other me's eyes through dreams, particularly lucid dreams, and share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and memories through daydreams. This is a pretty big part of my life and I feel it is significant to my identity. Would this fall under otherhearted/kithtype/synpath? I do not feel otherkin fits me as I, or at least this manifestation of me, am human and do not identify AS nonhuman and I will continue to live this life as human. I hope this makes sense. Maybe I just sound completely nuts, but I do believe in the multiverse with a grain of salt. So, upon some research based on a previous answer, it seems like some strange mix of otherhearted and soulbonding. It's like the opposite of plurality, where one conciousness exists in 2 separate entities. Median is close, but I feel we more exist in the sort of greater me, which exists between universes. Vey does not exist here, though our minds are inherently linked. I am a piece of a greater whole, and I am never not this piece of me. It definitely seems to fit under some kind of alterhuman, though. I am only just now aware of this greater umbrella term. Upon a little more digging, it also somewhat similar to xenreve, though still not a complete perfect fit. I am an immersive daydreamer, which is a big way I connect with the other me, but I'm not 100% my daydreaming was the ultimate and only cause of this phenomenon, although it did definitely contribute. As of now, I am calling this phenomenon human-other shared soul until further notice. It should also be noted I almost feel this me being MoonLighter-hearted, elf-hearted, and dragon-hearted as well as the other me being human-hearted and potentially also cat-hearted, particularly when I was a child but maybe to a lesser extent now, are also under consideration and I view as somewhat of a side-effect of having a shared soul.
Aka: Forcibly identifying them as alterhuman or one of it's subcategories to insinuate they're less human because of being autistic. (Not to say an autistic person can't feel distanced from humanity because of autism but forcing someone into an alterhuman identity is just dehumanizing in the most literal way)

I had used the terms therian and otherkin interchangeably when referring to myself, but I'm also fine with alterhuman. I don't see any of the categories as mutually exclusive, since all mythical or fictional beings are based on real world animals and humans in the first place. For example, my werewolf theriotype is based on wolves and the stories people have told about them. Strangely enough, while I know some alterhumans have a wolf theriotype and a separate werewolf kintype, for me they're the same thing. Even though the werewolf is bipedal and black, while the wolf is a white arctic wolf, I don't see a distinction between them.

I've not been In the comunity for a number of years and this is the first time I've heard Alterhuman being used. I don't really understand why we need an umbrella term that includes more than needed. I'm otherkin and that fits fine as a definition by me. I also don't understand why DID/OSDD is under the new umbrella term. You do get non human alters but DID/OSDD is a disorder and shouldn't be confused with theranthropy or its associates which I don't think are disorders.

It is because people decided that alterhuman wouldn’t just be an umbrella term for therians and otherkin. It would be an umbrella term for anything identity or experience wise that is deemed “not standard human”. Such as tulpemancers, otherkin, soulbonders, vampires, … these people decided that people with DID/OSDD can be included as a lot of them feel like they are not fully (standard) human or because they do not fully identify as (standard) human. I do not explain this to mean as a counter argument, as I too still feel uneasy with DID being included as I feel it takes away the seriousness of the mental disorder. Again, thanks for sharing!

Hello, i am new to alterhuman-therianthrophy things. I am still trying to "find" myself. I feel as if there is an animal in me, but i don't quite identify entirely as the said animal (only partly)which makes me feel like half-animal (A.K.A. hybrid). Perhaps i am animal-hearted? I sometimes want to bark/growl/howl etc..also I've experienced i few shifts, but not very often and i have absolute control over myself each time. So i wanted to ask someone more experienced with these things for advice? Please?
I totally get that! that's why I personally don't mind weither someone uses 'alterhuman' or 'alterbeing' or 'alterspecies' , to me they all have the same essence and it's whatever suits one the most :)
Chosing a theriotype usually isn’t seen as otherkin or therian. In the case of you choosing for anything rather than existentially being, you fall within the term “copinglink” or “otherlink”. Linkers are a category of alterhuman, with close connections to otherkin, who Chose their linktype. Copinglinkers do so for coping reasons. Otherlinkers might have another reason for chosing to identify as something. So the most correct term would be link or linktype, not kintype.
my parents and brother always call me a "furry" but im a therian im a black wolf,arctic fox,cat (idk what cat but it is white or a black cat idk bc i seen two cat one white and one black idk which one was me plus it was blurring idk how to spell it srry) and a chettah that i discovered about 1-4 months ago i did do my resarch too. and my parents said," Furries are people who have $ex in suits!" i tried to tell them im a therian not a furry and also tried to tell them about both furries and therians when i fist told them im a therian about 4 years ago i was young and i known things that a 7-8 year old should not know i was not smart but i known things bc i see ghosts sometimes and other things like when i do quads and look down i see one of my theriotpyes paws as like im the animal and im free again i do have species dysporia at the age on 11 and i miss my old animal past. I was depressed at 8 and i am still a bit depressed i just dont want my parents to be mad at me i had bullies at school and it made me depressed more the most depressed i was at the age of 9 a young therian depressed and having species dysporia was giving me a hard time i wanted to get some help and someone that loved me and i cried a lot(btw when i cry i remember a past memory when one of the oldest brothers said," I should have never been born!" and i remember when i cry) i have been sleeping less more and more i care for others but i just dont like showing it much so people just think im mean and a bully so i am alone almost everyday. I feel like i should die but i dont want to make people sad about me i want them to be happy and help me with things i dont like having i hate being depressed and having species dysporia i never ask for help because no one knows anything about me and im scared they will bully me or say that they will not help me. MY PARENTS OR BROTHERS DONT KNOW MY FAVORITE COLORS! its all colors! im sad and crying but im mad too im having mixed emotions that i have never had it stresses me out that im falling asleep in class a lot!

Chosing a theriotype usually isn’t seen as otherkin or therian. In the case of you choosing for anything rather than existentially being, you fall within the term “copinglink” or “otherlink”. Linkers are a category of alterhuman, with close connections to otherkin, who Chose their linktype. Copinglinkers do so for coping reasons. Otherlinkers might have another reason for chosing to identify as something. So the most correct term would be link or linktype, not kintype.

No they actually look vastly different! :) sure, rach have a triangle, circle and stripe as components but they’re each time differently positioned.

my parents and brother always call me a "furry" but im a therian im a black wolf,arctic fox,cat (idk what cat but it is white or a black cat idk bc i seen two cat one white and one black idk which one was me plus it was blurring idk how to spell it srry) and a chettah that i discovered about 1-4 months ago i did do my resarch too. and my parents said," Furries are people who have $ex in suits!" i tried to tell them im a therian not a furry and also tried to tell them about both furries and therians when i fist told them im a therian about 4 years ago i was young and i known things that a 7-8 year old should not know i was not smart but i known things bc i see ghosts sometimes and other things like when i do quads and look down i see one of my theriotpyes paws as like im the animal and im free again i do have species dysporia at the age on 11 and i miss my old animal past. I was depressed at 8 and i am still a bit depressed i just dont want my parents to be mad at me i had bullies at school and it made me depressed more the most depressed i was at the age of 9 a young therian depressed and having species dysporia was giving me a hard time i wanted to get some help and someone that loved me and i cried a lot(btw when i cry i remember a past memory when one of the oldest brothers said," I should have never been born!" and i remember when i cry) i have been sleeping less more and more i care for others but i just dont like showing it much so people just think im mean and a bully so i am alone almost everyday. I feel like i should die but i dont want to make people sad about me i want them to be happy and help me with things i dont like having i hate being depressed and having species dysporia i never ask for help because no one knows anything about me and im scared they will bully me or say that they will not help me. MY PARENTS OR BROTHERS DONT KNOW MY FAVORITE COLORS! its all colors! im sad and crying but im mad too im having mixed emotions that i have never had it stresses me out that im falling asleep in class a lot!
