I’m a closeted therian and I have not came out to anyone yet so I am think it’s safe to say it here. I am a wolf and I always felt like half human half wolf. I have felt this way since I was so little. I have been closeted for a long time. I wimper when sad and growl when angry and I have been told i am weird and i know i am not. I can be territorial at times but I am really kind. I honestly feel so safe wearing my tail and ears. You are spot on I feel all the different feelings and experiences that you are mentioning. I hope to find therian groups to connect with.

I just recently came out to my mother about me being a furry and it worked out super well. However she didn't know what a therian was so I showed her this. Thanks for the awesome content, Thorn! This really helped ^^ (Edit: My mother fully supports you but she has some advice. She says not to put a label on yourself. She thinks that if you know you're human, then to let that be your identity because that's how god made us. You can still be a therian but she means not to just make that your label. You can still identify as a human but just say "Hey, I have a deep connection to animals and nature." Like I have a deep connection to nature, but I know I'm not a therian and I don't label myself as one. I hope that makes sense. But, then again, you do you. Have a good day)
I am a therian, I'm quite new and try to learn has much has I can but however today a stumbled on a site supposely saying what is therianthropy but they said that what causes someone to be a therian is exactly "abnormal brain wiring, psychological trauma or combination of both" I was speechless. From what I learned soo far I doubt my trauma has anything to do with my therian self.
I came out as therian too my boyfriend, he accepted me...and he came out as therian too me too!!!!!! I...❤ dont give up hope anyone you WILL find your people. You ARE enough and it IS okay to be this way. Be you babe, your beautiful!
Growing up, I always had the animalistic traits and instincts of both a cat and a wolf. As I got older and found out that I'm autistic, I thought they were just stims. The thing is, tho, I never grew out of these o es like I have all my others. I always fight when I'm afraid. I always attack like an animal, especially when hurt and afraid. It's only one example, but I know now that I'm a therian.
Very interesting concepts. You explain how I felt for decades, I never knew others felt similar too. All these years, I never knew there was a term for what I felt since childhood. I will certainly subscribe!

Im not 100% sure if im a therian or not. But do my exprinces sound like a therian? The time to when i was little i always liked playing like a dog and i played like a dog. I wanted to be a animal and i was sad that i wasn’t one. But when i become a little bit older it grew away. But one thing that didn’t grew away was wanting to be an animal.After that i saw someone talking about How ”weird” therians are so i looked up What the term therian mean. I learend about therianthropy. And i have been Asking myself ”am i a therian or not?” I starded with qauds and it felt good. I got a phantom limb. Now on later days i have got urges and animal exprinces like just randomly make a animal noise. What do you think?

As a therian and a furry, I think the best way to explain the difference is as that between identity and expression. I realized I was a therian years before I became part of the furry community, and the reason I did was to find ways of expressing myself through storytelling and art. To draw an analogy to some of my other lived experiences, gender identity is not the same as gender expression. I know gay men who were way more gender nonconforming than I ever was growing up, yet I turned out to be trans and they didn't.
biologist here, i came here because a dear friend of mine came out as a therian and i just wanted to understand a bit more bout the topic, a small missunderstanding that i find many people has is that humans have instincts too, wich is not true, the big difference between humans and animals is that animals have instincts, and a great deal of their behaviour is subordinated to their instincts, but in humans that its not true, humans have impulses, the difference is that impulses are subordinated to reasoning, for example, in most cases (not always) a mother that is attacked by a large predator that she has no chance of fending off will abandon her offpsing, this is because the survivial instinct is above everyting else, however in humans it is different, a mother may feel a very strong impulse to run, but its going to por her life in the line to protect her child, firefigthers often ignore their survival impulse in order to charge into a burning building and rescue anyone traped inside, this is the big difference between instinct and impulse, i just wanted to leave that remark, maybe someone will find it usefull. thanks for the video BTW.

Do you have animalistic urges and behavior? Then you might be one. It can be hard to find out what animal/animals you are. Took a while to find out i was a moose and jackal but easy with skunk and dog ^^

Honest question. My daughter who is 11 now told me she is therian. She also says she is furry. Anyway part of me honestly thinks it is silly another part wants to try and understand. I have never indulted her for it or been negative. Just not sure how to navigate it all and is this healthy for a 11 year old? I cant help but feel internet is just influencing her young mind and honeslty just not sure how to navigate it all. Just looking for perspective and advice from individuals who know more about this.

I have some questions if anyone can help. Basically as far back as I can remember I identified heavily with animals. While I liked other animals I always felt best represented as a cat. I used the term catkin in my teens, but hid it due to embarrassment from peers. I know I'm not physically a cat, but I like to phrase how I feel as " a cat in a human meat suit ". Being referred to as a feline in general makes me feel seen. Would this be therian, or otherkin ?
Not all therian have shifts. Some don't identify fully as an animal. As they are partly therian. Not to hate, this is what I heard from most. I don't fully identify as a animal. Because I'm Christian, and I know I'm human sometimes I do have animalistic thoughts sometimes I want to do quadrobics for some reason, like it just snaps in my head. Or for some reason, and sometimes I have the will to put gear on It just snaps in my head for some reason. The weird part is I don't usually have energy. Because I'm homeschooled and I always want to sleep. Sometimes I hiss or growl when someone makes me very, very pissed off.
