- Pan Am Railways MEC 5958 model GE B40-8 and CSX CSXT 6229 model EMD GP40-2, seen in Portsmouth, NH at Barberry Lane Crossing, October 30, 2024 @ 1:10pm ET. Rail crew is upgrading the CSX Portsmouth Branch, dropping 1600 foot sections of 135 rail which will be replaced in the coming weeks.

Cprail reuse rail in industrials park here calgary when city expand industrials park.Western canada lots grain terminals use reuse rails due load car in fall harvest not waste money on new rails.CSX got lots upgrade when bought Pam Am railways due lots worn out same rolling stock.Thanks video😊

Seems like it was almost unnecessary to cut that short piece off. Just turning it towards the active track should have cleared the road enough but they must have their rules.
Thats relay, when rail gets too worn for use on the main line they sometimes reuse it for branches or sidings.

That is NOT new Rail. Secondhand from somewhere else. Look at all of the bolt holes already in it and one spot where there is a thermite weld in it. Also that is not a full ball on that railhead.
