    the simple fact that Ferrari only finished 11 secs behind the race winner and 2 secs behind Max without any upgrade is awesome. obviously, their upgrades might not work when they finally come but if they do, we're in for a treat. I have a feeling Leclerc struggled to switch on the tyres at the beginning, which is how Piastri managed to past him but towards the latter stage of the first stint, he had more pace for sure but unless you had a large pace differential with DRS on, which he dind't , it made it impossible to overtake. and yes, Piastri only had half the upgrade compared to Norris but Leclerc was with him so i really hope that theirs will work otherwise they will defo become the third car on the grid. not to mention that Hamilton was super fast too today

    Two things:
    1. The best way to fix the classic Kevin move of backing up the pack is to have more points to lower positions. Yes it was in the sprint, but same thing could happen in the race. Then Kevin wouldn’t be so sacrificial since he would be in the points too.
    2. Sprint quali needs to be one shot quali. One driver at a time; one lap. Quali feels dead having basically 2 identical sessions in the same weekend.

    • @matmatmatamatvsjdjfh
      @matmatmatamatvsjdjfh 27 дней назад +2

      track evolution tho. although it would work if the drivers would go and do their laps in championship order, so that verstappen, perez, norris, leclerc and so on would have a worse track early on so we could have a mixed up grid in the sprint. but then what if it starts raining? one shot quali sounds great, but only if they all do it at the same time.

    • @jamithon4227
      @jamithon4227 27 дней назад

      No denying the risks and the what ifs, but that is racing and I would not recommend it for a grand prix quali, but why not take the risk for a sprint race? Definitely worth the risk. Also, it could be that they change it to normal quali if weather is going to have a drastic effect.

    McLaren is type of a team that doesn’t like to do any work on the car over the winter break. They wait until the season start to see which team is faster on the grid, and then they copy paste onto their car. This way it helps them to stay within cost cap

    • @danielvilliers612
      @danielvilliers612 27 дней назад

      That's completely false. Last season is well documented, they took a step back around September 2022, because of the new regulation of raised beds. Because they understood the concept of their car with the new rules was a dead end. At this time their were also internal conflicts within the team engineers and James key. Who lost when Andrea's Seidle quit and went to audi project. So from that time they decided to go another route and took like 8 month for the Austria bspec car to be launched.
      For this car, the rumours is that this is the first true car coming from the new wind tunnel. This was not a design from 2 month ago, but from august last. This is why you heard Stella talk about how they dod mot make every target and that big upgrades were coming soon at the start of the season. If not they would have build a redbull competitor in two months.

RBR and Haas are close but with Kmag train, it is hard to tell what the other teams are at. China should have upgrades to hopefully close the gap between top and back teams.

Stroll seemed more comfortable with the car this weekend and on track for a couple of points in both events, until both races were compromised by factors out of his control.

    Exactly what I was looking for from McLaren and lando this weekend. That said Red bull will be back to their best next race. The temperatures really did effect them bad in Miami and safety car aside Max would likely had won this race. Its true Lando drove off into the sunset after safety car but Redbull just couldnt risk burning out the tires. Next time I see Mclaren regressing with temperatures more balanced. hopefully I'm wrong and they will be close in Imola too. Enjoyable race on a poor track.

    What is most prevalent, about the current racing situation, is that it is impossible to catch a car in front without DRS. Especially in circuits like Miami, once you loose the DRS advantage is game over. Seems like the teams have rendered the new regulation obsolete. Hopefully the F1 technical directors will mitigate the problem come 2026.

    McLaren had a lotta luck to compensate for poor strategy calls, IMO.
    First Oscar, when they didn't pit him immediately after LeClerc, I was shouting for it once he passed Lewis, but still they didn't, losing track position and time, I dunno why they kept delaying.
    Then with Lando, they absolutely fluked the timing, I was saying they needed to stop the lap before they did and Lando missed the SC by very very little (I'm gonna hunt for footage tomorrow of safety car emerging and lando passing) judging by the driver tracker (and WTF with picking up Max FIA, seriously sort ya SC's out). Had he been caught behind the SC, that would have sent him plummeting.
    Really pleased for Lando to get that first win, finally. Another 1 or 2 could be achievable this year, but just fighing Ferrari for 2nd/3rd will be fun for us viewers.
    Oh and on KMag ... I've appreciated his efforts helping his 'Suck my *****' teammate, but he definitely went too far at the end with Lewis, which he did acknowledge (so fair play), but the FIA need to address this. I'm all for teammates holding drivers up (Perez on Lewis was just amazing that time), but there has to be limits and piling time penalties on a driver out the points anyway clearly isn't working ... But I've long disliked the penalty system anyway, as it does nothing to compensate drivers taken out (best I've imagined is the offending driver shares a split of their points with the victim).

    This is the season where we’ll really see that two brilliant drivers, as found in both McLaren and Ferrari, are worth more than one all-time great. Hate to say it, but Red Bull are in a similar situation to Aston right now. Mercedes should be considered a midfield team currently. Even with Lewis outperforming his car, there is no excuse for Checo even on a weekend when Red Bull weren’t quite as imperious as usual. (No, I’m not saying Checo is like Lance, just to be clear, but he isn’t in the same universe as Max)

It's not doom and gloom just yet as we first thought and if SF and MCL keep pushing like this with their driver line ups, unless Perez fights back he is gone for sure. It's crazy how RB and now MCL are now basically using a finessed version of the W14 sidepod and canons and the works team had no clue or even faith in themselves on to continue with.
