Urban combat is like hell for tanks.
No doubt the Israelis would prefer to fight in different surroundings. Unfortunately, the Hamas terrorists hide in civilian centers, preferentially hospitals, schools and UNRWA facilities. Despite the challenges, the Merkava is comparatively well-suited for this setting when accompanied by IDF infantry.
