So inspiring. I love how you keep going, unsure where you are being lead by your creative heart. I think the thing I love most about your example and leadership in this community is your decision making process. You are so inspiring. Thank You for your example and inspiration. SO many ideas it sparked in me with that. :) Thank You
I usually put flowers on the highest setting and put a thin pc of paper on each side of the flowers or leaf’s I’m laminating and that helps it not get stuck. I’ve ruined a laminator by it getting stuck and laminating itself around the roller inside that Machine. I usually put things thru a few times to get it flatter. Leave laminator on when your crafting. Don’t turn off in between and I also use my laminator to put things through that I’ve glued together usually with glue stick. It heats the glue and smooths out your tag or whatever your working on.
Oh Tracie I do love your videos, you never know what to expect and they’re always so much fun! I think those pieces of white card with the folded edge that were in the packs are carrier sheets , they help hold your project flat and apply a little extra pressure as it goes through the machine? The mushroom tag would look great against a stamped cotton or calico background, and if you laminate two whole sheets back to back and then cut around the edges you end up with two single sided laminated sheets so you can still work on the back. Your ideas on using the results were fabulous! I am as usual so looking forward to your next video! X
Hi Tracy, You can put a piece of painter's tape on your sewing machine about a quarter inch from the needle. It's like a guide to sew a straight stich . It will help you see the tread for those clear pieces. I like all your ideas. I never thought about stamping on the inside of the laminating pouch. 🙂
Thank you for the shout-out and linking a video! I love what you're doing with the stamps and dried flowers. Lovely ideas for adding little bits to made ephemera. Now I have to get my laminator out and play again. It's really quite a bit of fun! ✨️💖✨️
You can get laminator carrier sleeves that you place the plastic sleeve on before laminating. It prevents the sleeves from wrinkling and keeps the pouch flat
Look at you!! ⭐️ I’ve never thought of stamping between the laminate sheets. Now go check out single sided laminating for a softer look. Great for using napkins to make pouches! 😊
Great ideas Tracie. You can actually use the pouches all the way to the top as they are actually made to laminate full pages of paper. I’m not sure why your machine was wrinkling so badly at the top but it may have be because your machine is not actually hot enough even though it is green or perhaps you need to move your sheets closer to your lights to feed through. As you worked out you can refeed your pouches through to help get rid of wrinkles. If you let them cool down you will have more success. You can even feed from the opposite end too so the wrinkles from the top are being pushed the opposite way. Enjoy your experiments.
Love this idea. The laminator that we use in my place of work we have to place the laminate sheet inside a carrier sheet, which is like a thin cardboard/paper folder. I think it helps protect the laminate sheet from the intense heat, so seems to combat wrinkles, but also has the added benefit of making it easier to transfer your project from the work surface to the laminator. It gives it some sturdiness 🙂
As for wasting space on a laminator sheet I look at it this way. You have had these things for 5 plus years without using them, that was the waste. The experimentation is making good use of your supplies and a lot of it turned out great
What a fabulous video Tracie. I too like others were saying, YES put it back through. haha.. Love what you have already made with a few. so very creative. The simplicity of the numbers, cut out, then stapled is brilliant. I can't wait to dust my laminator off and get it out to play. Many thanks. Debs. ❤
Fabulous. I recently picked up a laminator at a thrift store, but it’s only badge size about 3x4. I’m excited to try some of the stamped numbers and some dangles. Thanks for the inspiration. 🩵
I love your ring binder journal. That’s actually my preferred method of creating a journal. The laminating to create ephemera is a great idea. So fun. To prevent wrinkling at the top you may want to try moving your pouch a little to the right when inserting. Your roller pressure may be uneven.
Fantastic ideas thank you. I think you'll find if you leave your laminator on to heat up more you won't get the wrinkles (the hotter the better) and you can feed the pockets through several times.
I always make sure I have a piece of card stock or paper butted right to the closed portion of the pouch (the part that goes through first). This stops the rippling. I do a lot of laminating. 😀🇨🇦
I work in a primary school. I have gone to battle with the laminator demons in many forms over the years (with different types of machines and pouches). This video has had me giggling all night. 😂🤣 For that I say Thank You! 🥰 Laminating needs sage advice and time with the machine, as each one is different. Lush creative ideas here! 🥰
Tracie, love the project, you are so creative. I believe the clear should be put in that white fold and then run in the machine, in middle is the best, I feel that temperature may have been to low. Thank you so much sharing, big hugs Tracie.
Oh how fun was that! I love experimenting and finding new ways to make things. Extremely helpful too because I’m a newbie to using a laminator. Everything you created was amazing!
Tracie, the leftover pieces of your laminated sheets, like the one you did the stickers and tag on, can be used as the windows in slides or other projects that have a frame or window. LOVE the stamped ones! 👍❤️
I had a similar experience with my laminator. I learned quickly NOT to use small laminating pockets. Lol, I ended up with material getting stuck inside my laminator and wavy leaves. After cooling the machine I was able to get out all the stuck things. I’m going to try to flatten my wavy leaves with my craft iron and a fabric pad. Love watching you and the stamping idea.
There should be a carrier sheet that came in with the pouches. Once you get the goodies in the laminating pouch, then you put the whole thing into the carrier sheet and then through the machine. Hope that helps :)
Most laminating packages come with the laminating sheets and a thin cardboard laminating folder. Once you load the sheets, place in the folder and then run through. The folder keeps the laminating sheets nice and flat with no wrinkles. You can use a simple thin file folder if one did not come with the laminating sheets package.
You sounded just like me when I first tried laminating 😆 I haven't done a lot of it but love storing my dried botanicals like this ready to cut when needed and I keep my off-cuts to stamp on. Love all the pieces you made 😘 Watching while I get my DT project cut up☺💕

30 yrs ago when I needed a laminator, they weren’t readily available like today. I had to pay $375.00 for it through a local art supply shop! Thank heavens, folks don’t have to spend so much for one. It is an excellent machine and I’m so glad I’ve hung onto it.
Oh, how great! ❤ Thanks for the great inspiration. I really like the stamps. Such small transparent tags have a lot of charm. You could also punch them out with die cuts. Maybe a colour will dry on the laminating film. Maybe alcohol inks? Then you could also colour in a stamp. I can also think of a collection of cool little pictures on overhead film, such as stamps, small signs, labels, symbols, photos, etc.and print them out on a laser printer. I think the laminated, small green sheets combined on tags are also really cool! I already have so many ideas, I'm going to try them out tomorrow. I'm already looking forward to it! Thank you for sharing, my dear Tracie ❤ 💙 Best wishes from the German Baltic coast 🌾🐟🐚 PS. If you have waterproof, coloured ink, you can of course also use a small brush to colour a stamp on laminating film. You don't need alcohol inks to colour stamps 😅🙈 ... 🤔 although the alcohol inks used in a different way, i.e. watercolour-like, abstract, marble ‘clouds’ laminated in, might also look interesting and pretty ...
Loved this so much. Great to watch you experiment. I have a laminator so am looking forward to trying these ideas. Recovering from the flu, so this cheered me up a lot.
Love this idea. I just bought an inexpensive laminator from Amazon after watching this. LOL I also have an idea...Wouldn't it look fun if you cut the stamps out with pinking shears? I think it would look really cool!! TFS
My laminator was sold with an A4 size card that you put under the laminating pouch , there is a little lip/ fold for the plastic to hold , that stops the wrinkling and it works really well for smaller items. 😊
Over and over, I see people pulling these laminating machines back out. 😂 I have been waiting to find one used. Thinking it would be cheaper. But, they really are not that much cheaper used. I haven’t found one in a thrift store either. I’m not sure why. I guess people hold onto them thinking that maybe they’ll get back to it again 😂. Anyway, this was a great play and I found one on eBay. So I hope to be trying all these fun tricks in a few days! Thanks for the wonderful inspirations! Hugs 🤗❤️
I've got a laminator I've only used a handful of times myself! It's come in handy a few times for sure but I definitely don't use it as much as I probably should. 😂
🙏🏼🧸 lol just happens to be pulling out the laminator two weeks ago but needed to wait for my son to bring me new cause I ran out of pouches so this week I’ve been using it again. Will try this too. Keep the laminate in the middle and in straight. Also, for those that said you should have a cover type sheet to put the laminate in, these smaller machines don't normally come with them as they don't need them.
I’m one yelling “put it through again! It will iron out most wrinkles!” 😂
Me too.
Lol me too 🙂
I'm yelling - get some (slightly) thicker pouches ! or A5, A6 less area to wrinkle. 🙏💪👌
Me also😅
I’m yelling “Take the paper bit off the plug” 😁
