This movie TERRIFIED me back in the day. I used to get off the school bus and it was 1/4 of a mile through the woods to our house. I would literally book it in a full out sprint after seeing this movie. On the plus side, because of this movie it helped me become one of the fastest sprinters in Maine back in the mid-late 1980's
The most eerie part for me was when the car emerged from the trees during the dark. Classic scares. Great film. As the saying goes " the old ones are the best"
Been watching this ever since I was a kid. My Grandmother introduced me to this movie. For 13 years up until the day she died she would call me to remind me it was coming on.
Who remembers the two cyclist on there bikes. Talk about on you bikes. Think they went fast enough. I guess they didn't because it was them getting it big time. Car coming from inside the tunnel with that famous brilliant horn. Those 2 riding like crazy but not riding fast enough. And they hit it big time. And the way Car comes flying right in through that window of that house. Car doesn't worry about road tax car insurance. Or speeding speedos. On the road it's Car and his rules and law. How it all started was. He and Christine had a fall out and this was the outcome. Car just totally lost it.

How right you are!. Critics have an agenda to want to always see something brand new in stories or a movie that has some kind of social relevance. Is it what Universal wanted?.. Back in 1977 I was 8 years old and going to the movies with my best friend once a week, every week from the 1970s-1980s. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. He lived in a distant neighborhood and I had to take a public city bus to get to and from his place. Normally, most times we went to one of the movie theaters in or near his neighborhood. After seeing our movie in the theater, we'd retreat back to his apartment to watch even more movies on his living room tv that happened to be airing that afternoon and evening. The Car was one of the few movies we didn't get to see in the theaters. We didn't see it until a couple years later in his living room when it debuted on tv. I think the year was either 1979 or 1980 when we were 10-11 years old. After seeing the movie on his tv, I took my bus home. The bus let me off a block or so away from my place. As I walked up my street to get home, it was after dark and I was scared of all the cars parked alongside the sidewalk, especially the ones with their front tires turned towards me on the sidewalk. I warily eyed them, worried that one of them would jump up onto the sidewalk and give chase to me! I finally reached my home and breathed a sigh of relief. Because as one will recall in the movie, there's a scene in which the car kills one of its victims by smashing through her single level house. But I lived in a 2 family apartment house and my apartment was upstairs on the second floor!
Put down his tyre's. Run away with his wheels. If none of that works then sing the hills are alive with the sound of music. Soon as you sing that Car will definitely get out of there and never return. Or if you are a fan of car and love car then sing the hills are alive with the sound of screaming. Now that's madness beyond madness. That's cars favourite song. And Screaming nothing more than Screaming. There screaming it big time. And I'm killing time.

They paid homage to this movie on The Regular Show. But it was an English black cab and the movie was called “‘Ello Gov’nor”. When I watched it, it immediately reminded me if this movie. I first heard of this movie through my mom when I was a kid. She had gone to see it with my dad at the movie theater.

Last I heard, the 4th, unscathed version, was sold to someone in Europe. I have seen, including one in the flesh, here in England, 3 very, VERY good replicas.
@@ronaldjensen8614 Well SORT of. While I'm sure he COULD have scratch built a car had he decided to-- maybe he even did at one point-- he was actually a car CUSTOMIZER. He took REGULAR cars as they had ALREADY been built, and made his own changes-- kind of like when somebody takes an already made game and adds different stuff to it. He was a "modder" for cars, and he made a damn good business out of it.
@@kimmiecatluvinwilson2139 Loosely based on SEVERAL such stories, but more in the movie than in the book. Several areas of the book take rather LARGE inspiration from the original short story Killdozer. Originally written by Theodore Sturgis, or Sturgion. Pretty sure it was one of those.
The horn is the car laughing. Saw this movie at the drive-in theater, back when it was fun to go see double or triple features at the drive-in with the little speaker hanging in the window, and going to the concession stand to get your popcorn and soda pops. Not many of those around anymore.
Victor Hernandez Yeah that's my favorite Regular Show episode where Rigby and Mordcai watch a scary movie about a possessed Black Car and Rigby gets scared by the movie and has Nightmares about it.
I was a little kid when this came on one of the three channels we received on the 40' antenna and they advertised it for a while beforehand to build up the hype . The next day at school all the lil kids were talking about it.
The Car is supernatural. Duel let's you see indication that there is a human driver inside the truck. The first is evil in the form of an animised automobile. The second is evil in the form of an anonymous, psycho truck driver. Personally, I don't see how they can be described as the same. Both movies are really good though. Saw them when I was a little kid and they both scared the hell out of me. I'm surprised that I don't now, as an adult, have neuroses about driving as a result of these movies. 😆
Cuz nobody is driving the car and the car is supernatural while duel has a truck driver going on a murderous adventure trying kill a man named david mann
What a great basic concept that worked and became a great Movie! That horn, the cool looking and scary car itself, the hallowed ground, when it's in the house, through the house, etc. I watched it on HBO in 1977-78, Great Movie. They should remake it. Then again maybe not because it'll suck balls like most of Hollywood movie remakes.
A remake is only as good as the people behind it.The worse remake I still hate is Psycho. It didn't try to offer anything new since it was just a shot for shot as the original,a good writer and director could pull it off.Even a sequel would be nice even thou it's been 40 years since this film was made.My suggestion for a remake is don't try to be like the original film do something new with it.
whoa that's awesome that trailer is so 19's. this is a very good trailer of the car. no way to stop the car. The car is still available in DVD Player CD
I allege there's a scene that has been deleted and never been rediscovered. I have a vivid memory of this from my childhood: A couple are walking in the desert. (Seems like maybe their car broke down or ran out of gas) The car approaches, they try to get it to stop and help them. It drives past them, but slows, stops, and then backs up and stops beside them. They talk to the "driver" thru the closed door/closed window. There's a pause, and then the passenger door opens. The couple gratefully approach the car, but stop in shock when they see the interior. There's no driver, no steering wheel, and the dashboard is just a solid white single piece with no gauges, knobs, etc. It only has hvac vents. Couple tries to run away, but the car literally sucks the girl inside and slams the door. Guy freaks out and frantically tries to open the door to get her out. Inside, the girl is screaming and pounding on the glass. The car starts revving and the inside vents start glowing red hot, with smoke and steam coming out, burning the girl like being in a roasting oven. It gets so hot that the flesh on her hands starts sloughing off onto the glass in bloody streaks of gore. The girl roasts to death as bf helplessly listens and watches. Car speeds off, leaving the guy behind to wallow in his grief and horror to probably die in the sun. Important footnote: I think the car let the bf watch his girl get cooked by momentarily "turning off" the window tint, so the glass was clear. Does this sound familiar to anyone? That scene was the scariest part when I was a kid and has been seared in my memory forever. If it helps, I probably saw that scene circa 1979-1983.
Sounds like a great scene but to the best of my knowledge it wasn't in this movie. I saw it in the theater multiple times in 1977 and then I had a VHS copy of it. Sounds pretty grizzly...maybe they cut it to keep it PG instead of R?
Honestly I definately remember a girl beating on the glass from the inside. Was on the speed channel with bruce dern on his car movie show he did back in the late 90s, early 2000s.
An absolute CLASSIC of a movie! Watched it as a kid many times and always watched it all the way through! A true masterpiece of the genre. The only other evil car movie that comes close is Christine.
One of my favorite all time films !! Someone just put out The Car : Road to Revenge and I tell you I almost threw up!!! How dare they desecrate this classic!! I’m gonna have to NOW bank roll a proper part 2 !!.. I adore this film !!!!
I think it's an alien weapon due to the beginning the narrator's says that ''horror came to the earth in many forms'' so The Car is Actually a extraterrestrial weapon
Oh how I miss those 90 minutes made for TV MOVIES of the week. Two networks and practically every night had one. It was as if they took every script ever submitted and with low budgets for the most part, let the studio's run amok producing movies. Still it was better then 75% of what passes for entertainment today. That scene at the end when the Devils face is seen in the fire of the explosion was great, as was the custom work on the car. Thanks for posting this.
There is no comparison. Dual was not supernatural and Christine was unknown. So if you put all three cars, The Car would win in the battle. And the Car would make sure Christine will never resurrect again.
Saw this as a kid back in the 1970s. I'm not sure what I would have thought about it if I'd watched for the first time it as an adult, but it dang sure scared the bejeezus out of me back when I was nine.

Anyway the part that terrified me the most was when the lady was in her house all alone & was talking to someone on the telephone as she’s screaming into the phone, “It’s coming….I can hear it….what should I do?….No, I won’t go outside!” &💥BAM💥The CAR comes crashing through her window & out through the back of the house!!! In my 7year old mind I figured being in my house I was safe, but after that scene…..?😳🫣 I was crying for my mommy😱 “mommy the Black devil car is gonna rip through the house & kill us all😭” 😂I miss the innocent of being a kid, and thinking that everything we watched was 100% REAL!!!😂😂😂 I miss being a kid🥺

Wow that's herbie's evil cousin
ReXy25 Mikey And Christine is Herbie's evil sister (Sorry my bad english)
No, that is Horace
2 xd The Car: Ello Gov'nor Ello Gov'nor Hahahaha.
no, that's Horace.
It's Herbies step brother
They paid homage to this movie on The Regular Show. But it was an English black cab and the movie was called “‘Ello Gov’nor”. When I watched it, it immediately reminded me if this movie. I first heard of this movie through my mom when I was a kid. She had gone to see it with my dad at the movie theater.
1971 Lincoln continental mark 3 with curved finder classic with a badass horn
Kyle Shiflet : I read that George Barris...built the car.
Son you're gonna drive me to drinking if you don't stop driving that hotrod Lincoln.
Oh I went and saw this and the drive in when it came out. One awesome movie!
@@ronaldjensen8614 :... yup, he did. He built 4 of them, only one survived. One got wrecked in the barrel roll scene, another in the flying through Lauren's House scene and whilst I've never read confirmation, I can't imagine the one in the stunt near the end came to any good!!!
My grandmother used to tell me "Better get in bed or the car with get you!" - Lol
Haha well it worked didnt it?
Lol haha 😆
If You don't sleep the car is going to kill You 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😆
😂
I still love this movie. I almost want to see it remade with Josh in his dads role. At same time, I love it for what it is.
before Christine showed up there was, THE CAR!!!
Did you know Christine was very loosely based on a real cursed car?
@@kimmiecatluvinwilson2139 yea I think I read about that once 4 people or so died mysteriously around it
@@kimmiecatluvinwilson2139 Loosely based on SEVERAL such stories, but more in the movie than in the book. Several areas of the book take rather LARGE inspiration from the original short story Killdozer. Originally written by Theodore Sturgis, or Sturgion. Pretty sure it was one of those.
The horn is the scariest part!
Is available but expensive. Like to put it in my pickup truck
The old lady in the cemetery calls the car "cat poo" LMAO
I always thought she said "tadpole" ! LOL !
The horn is the car laughing. Saw this movie at the drive-in theater, back when it was fun to go see double or triple features at the drive-in with the little speaker hanging in the window, and going to the concession stand to get your popcorn and soda pops. Not many of those around anymore.
'Ello, Gov'ner!
Victor Hernandez Yeah that's my favorite Regular Show episode where Rigby and Mordcai watch a scary movie about a possessed Black Car and Rigby gets scared by the movie and has Nightmares about it.
IM NO GOV'NER!!!!
Roight! 'Ow's it 'angin', Mate?
You know whats crazy my girl is watching that episode right now :O
Holy Crap it's Real!!
Those sunk in headlights make it look evil, and that chopped top, and the engine sounds like two engines in one, awesome.
57lexus Don't forget the bulging fenders.
The headlights did it for me the longer I looked at the more evil it looked 😮
To "Christine" & "The Car"... Salute...🍻🥂
I was a little kid when this came on one of the three channels we received on the 40' antenna and they advertised it for a while beforehand to build up the hype . The next day at school all the lil kids were talking about it.
Finally saw it on Netflix yesterday. Had me thinking, "How is this NOT Duel?"
It didn't try to offer anything new since it was just a shot for shot as the original,a good writer and director could pull it off.Even a sequel would be nice even thou it's been 40 years since this film was made.My suggestion for a remake is don't try to be like the original film do something new with it.
whoa that's awesome that trailer is so 19's.
this is a very good trailer
of the car.
no way to stop the car.
The car is still available in DVD Player CD
They remade it the car revenge
@@rolandadavis6886 heard it sucked major balls
So Underated. Was scary back then and scary now. Shits on Duel. Needs recognition.
I love this movie! I saw it when I was little and I still remember it.
Probably the best flip and roll ever filmed..
I allege there's a scene that has been deleted and never been rediscovered. I have a vivid memory of this from my childhood:
A couple are walking in the desert.
Not in this movie.
Sounds like a great scene but to the best of my knowledge it wasn't in this movie. I saw it in the theater multiple times in 1977 and then I had a VHS copy of it. Sounds pretty grizzly...maybe they cut it to keep it PG instead of R?
Да похоже, что это из этого фильма!!! Но я не помню. Это эффект Манделы!
LOVE this film. I saw it on TV (edited) in 1980 and it scared the crap out of me.
where can I get that horn
Daniel Murphy , u have to go back in 1977 😎
Daniel Murphy make one by one
It’s a truck horn you can buy them @ hornblasters.com
they took a French horn and put it in the sound booth and that's how they did it

The sheriff told Luke to cancel the parade rehearsal, which was why Luke had "NO" excuse for failing to cancel, and he also 'drank' on the job.
One of my favorite all time films !! Someone just put out The Car : Road to Revenge and I tell you I almost threw up!!! How dare they desecrate this classic!! I’m gonna have to NOW bank roll a proper part 2 !!..
I adore this film !!!!
The Car: Road to Revenge writer & producer should be taken to the alley and slapped silly. Lol!!
Mom has been on about this movie for years, so I finally bought a copy for her. Gonna watch it tonight
I switched my car horn to the sound of GunShots. Now, everybody gets out of my way.
"What evil force drives...THE CAR? The Devil himself."
The Stigs evil cousin. Some say...
I think it's an alien weapon due to the beginning the narrator's says that ''horror came to the earth in many forms''
so The Car is Actually a extraterrestrial weapon
Whoever is driving sure has a hard on for that frickin horn.
It must be Satan.
Nancy pig-losi is driving.
Ever since I heard that car horn, I cannot get the sound out of my head.
Died every time he said “The Car” or the horn blew.
This and the movie “Christine” have got to be my favorite car/horror movies. Thanks for posting!
Awesome movie. I'd actually be okay with a remake but only if they use the original car
I hear that horn in my head to this day 😅
Ok I'll admit it.....I rooted for the car.
Me too
Oh how I miss those 90 minutes made for TV MOVIES of the week. Thanks for posting this.
william york I loved the ending too, so cool!
Maximum Overdrive: hold my beer.
That horn is so iconic.... In my eye anyway
Duel + Christine??
Renan C. S. Maia I was thinking the same thing. Was a fun watch
Duel was first. Was made before jaws.
Dueline
There is no comparison. Dual was not supernatural and Christine was unknown. So if you put all three cars, The Car would win in the battle. And the Car would make sure Christine will never resurrect again.
@@randall.3189 Yeah,Jaws novel is from 1974 and movie from 1975,duel is from 1971
Take a shot every time the voiceover says “the car”
Loved this and Killdozer when I was a kid.
Saw this as a kid back in the 1970s. I'm not sure what I would have thought about it if I'd watched for the first time it as an adult, but it dang sure scared the bejeezus out of me back when I was nine.
This movie was awesome!
It scares people who dont love ultra violent movies.... like I do.
More carnage on my plate please!
So glad they put this movie up on Netflix
LOL! My older brother took me to the drive in to see this when I was 8. It was a double bill. This, and Jaws 2. :)
Yo that's cool, where did y'all see at?
Just finished watching it tonight and it's got one of the best facial expressions during the ending
If they ever made a remake...a souped up Dodge Challenger SRT Demon would be the most appropriate candidate for the role! If it ever happens, you saw it recommended here first! Lol
On Netflix
Absolutely 💯 but it has to have that horn
There should be a remake and use a new model black Camero with blacked out tint . Gotta keep that horn that’s a classic.
You never have a silver potato when you most need it.
Watched this as a kid in the 90's, really terrifying.. tried to replicate the horn for years on a keyboard.
I think the sound of the engine and just the look are the most creepy things about it >~< because a normal Lincoln Continental looks pretty different
I was a kid & this spooked me… that horn
I died when that car flipped itself over when those Sheriffs tried to block him. OMG! If you seen that part, you know what I'm talking about. Also, when that car flew through that woman's house....whew, that was too much vengeful savagery on Steroids. Just watched this on Netflix. Great Movie 😊!
My mom and I would watch this any time it was on TV back in the day. It's full on cheese ball goodness only the late 70's could provide.
This movie was a prequel to Transformers, it just never showed its true form.
The Car for president, 2020.
IT'S A GOOD MOVIE.
Everyone who grew up in th 70s remembers..The Car. Love the gothic Adam's family vibe they gave it. An iconic look
Can’t believe this movie scared the crap outta me as a kid! 😂😂😂
A friend and I saw The Car when it first hit the theaters. Spooked the hell out of us. On the way home that night we both swore we saw the damn thing following us.
You'll never put catalytic converters on me and smog emissions, HA, HA, HA, HA!!!
- No more leaded fuel for you, lol.
- Nooooooooo!
I am obsessed with this car
Man they should of made THE CAR 2 using same actors car returns for revenge and they're kids got a deal with it this time.
I love the sound of the engine.
This was the best killer car movie of all time love it 🤙🤙
Wow! This took me back as a kid back in the day! and was Scary AF!,,back then to me! ..Kool!
The Car created by the late George Barris.
Who Also Created the 1966 BATMOBILE
I first watched this on TV in Halloween Night 1988. 👻
This movie scared the living “Headlights” out of me!!!
I remember it like it was yesterday…..
1982 I was 7 years old & my brother was 9 & it was Saturday night & our mom went out with her friend’s & back then there was no babysitter as long as you could walk & talk & there was 2 of you to lookout for one another.
Anyway the part that terrified me the most was when the lady was in her house all alone & was talking to someone on the telephone as she’s screaming into the phone,
“It’s coming….I can hear it….what should I do?….No, I won’t go outside!”
&💥BAM💥The CAR comes crashing through her window & out through the back of the house!!!
In my 7year old mind I figured being in my house I was safe, but after that scene…..?😳🫣
I was crying for my mommy😱
“mommy the Black devil car is gonna rip through the house & kill us all😭”
😂I miss the innocent of being a kid, and thinking that everything we watched was 100% REAL!!!😂😂😂
I miss being a kid🥺
Just go upstairs: The Car can’t climb up the stairs.
This car looks much of a demonic hearse which is terrifying cool!
I love this movie! So does my friend. :D I love creepy stuff! My friend and I sometimes try to imitate (idk if I spelled that correctly) the horn of the car.
I watched this as a teen then after that walking at nite this movie stayed on my mind. The whole time lol
This movie scared the Hell out of me when I was a child.. It really gave me nightmares 😵 that damn Horn!
For those of you who didn't live in the 70's ,yes cars blew up randomly when ever they were hit.
Even the engine sounds like a demon
In normal life u hear that sound all the time at the track
The best horror car movie
