- THE CAR (1977) - The Kill Counter - James Brolin
Ever wondered how many people lose their lives in any particular horror movie? Well, we've got you covered with THE KILL COUNTER, our hit new series takes out all of the guesswork and counts out each and every death on (and sometimes off) screen. Break out your calculator and try to keep up
In this episode, we take to the backroads and deserted desert highways to take on Elliot Silverstein's THE CAR with James Brolin (THE AMITYVILLE HORROR), Ronny Cox (ROBOCOP), and real-life sisters Kim Richards (ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13) and Kyle Richards (HALLOWEEN). The late Church of Satan leader Anton LaVey was a "Technical Adviser" on the film and his "Invocation of Destruction" quote is used in the opening credits.

The Car is one of my all-time favorites. As an 8 year old kid at the time it was legit scary. Now that I'm older I'm able to simply bask in the greatness of this 70s gem.
if you like movies based on child predation.. go for its sicko.
I recall seeing this movie when I was 7 or 8. Still classic
LIST OF DEATHS:
0:44 Girl (Run Over By The Car)
1:03 Pete Keil (Run Over By The Car)
1:07 John Morris (Killed By The Car)
2:39 Sheriff Everett (Killed By The Car)
3:02 People (Killed By The Car)
3:08 Random Sheriff (Killed By Horses)
3:16 Cowboy (Killed By The Car)
3:19 Cowboy (Killed By The Car)
3:26 Cowboy (Killed By The Car)
3:53 Ray Mott (Pushed His Car To The Cliff By The Car)
4:17 4 Sheriffs (Crushed By The Car's Barrel Roll)
4:26 Lauren (Killed By The Car)
4:36 The Car (Died By Explosion)
The Car Has Survived In The Credits Roll
So, since the car itself didn't actually die, the kill doesn't count.
In Dead Meat fashion, 14 people died in The Car. With the victims consisting of 12 man and 2 woman, it gives way much more blueberry for this pie chart. With the run time of 98 minutes, it give us a kill average of of a perfect 7 minutes!
I give the Golden Chainsaw for coolest kill to the 4 Deputies (4:17) who got Barrel Roll'ed by The Car. I mean, "Aileron Roll'ed". Man, Star Fox got me wrong again!
Dull Machete for lamest kill has so many options, but I'm giving to the 3 cowboys (3:16 ; 3:19 ; 3:26) Since their deaths are not as believable compared to the rest.
Edit, it's actually 14 kills, the Random Sherrif at 3:08 did survive the horse stampede, as later in the movie when Margie runs towards a police vehicle to use the radio we see him crawling away from the track
The credits aren't canon. Just showing us cool shots of the movie's killer to close out the film. The credits don't prove anything.
@@chrisguaraThe Car, dead or not, still wouldn't count as a kill. As seen in James's Christine kill count, he doesn't count cars.
🍪
@@Sean-hn1vt I’m sorry that me the stalker Is here again To Spit The Truth
THE F***ING CREDITS ARE CANON IT JUST GIVES A HINT THAT THEY WOULD MAKE A SEQUEL IN THE 80S BUT THEY DIDN’T END UP DOING IT AND WE INSTEAD GOT A F***ING SPIN-OFF
Along with DUAL in the same era this one stuck firmly in my mind forever more!!
Duel you mean? 😊
WOW! Remember watching this movie when I was 7. Just found it on Netflix. If the wind blew hard at night I was looking out for that car headlights 😂 for feet off the ground 🤣😂
Saw this movie at a drive-in when I was 10 in 1977. I've been hooked ever since. I've been a car guy since that time even though I was too young to drive.
this movie is based on the horror of the child sex trade network - maybe you didn't know that. Quote from infamous Child rapist and satanic fool 'anton levey' at the start.
Saw it on HBO some Saturday night when I was a kid. Loved it. Not gory, just creepy
I still remember seeing this in the drive in with my parents, to this day I still love this jaws knock off
So underrated. My mom let me watch this...let's just say I stayed out of a car for a good time in my childhood.
Best movie
That horn though...I have a set that sound similar...
Shut up, People will use the word UNDERRATED on anything
My mom watches this movie when she was younger so we were able to watch it together, and I LOVED IT! Now officially one of my favorite horror movies next to Halloween and The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Ladies and gentlemen we can now confirm Satan drives an offbrand Lincoln
It's a classic in it's way. Loved it .
I remember seeing this one a Saturday Night movie on WGGT 48. My mom liked seeing James Brolin in action. The car flip on the sherriff's car and the drive through the house were awesome stunts.
Fun fact about the car flipping! they actually tried to do that without the car shaking any parts off mid flip.
I love this movie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It would be cool if Josh Brolin did the sequel.
1:12 if you turn your volume up you can hear the horn of The Car
hol' up
🍪
Word too the wise .Never call the car nasty names .never tuant the car .never throw things at the car and never challenge the car .
where's the fun in that
Great stunts like barrel rolling and smashes through the house.
You can do the Kill Counters of Wheels of Terror (in honor of its 30th anniversary), Maximum Overdrive, Duel, Rolling Vengeance, The Ambulance (in honor of its 30th anniversary), The Wraith, Super Hybrid (in honor of its 10th anniversary), Trucks (1997), The Car: Road to Revenge, Killdozer! (1974), Amok Train aka Beyond the Door III and Black Cadillac.
A few years before I was born but I remember hearing my Mom always saying I needed to watch this.
In my late teens I watched this at my local cinema on my own when I got back home a car went through my village ,I'm still scared of this type of car 😱
Artwork at the end was awesome. Not too many people these days remember that movie. They know Christine or the Wraith. This is the one I remember best.
Yeah I love the 1977 movie the car with James brolin & Kim Richards
You'll have to deduct a kill from the count, the 6th count. The officer survived getting run down by the horse, in the scene where margie runs to the officers car to radio for help to the left of the screen you'll see him on the track moving.
The rollover for a quadruple kill and the come out unscathed was badass! 😂😂😂
This guy made a friggin great movie! I think it should play in the theaters for a month. For us of course.
@sipo70 😃" A return to ' the big screen ' , would definitely be coming full circle. An old movie theater is just where I first saw It, when It first came out. At the time, James Brolin was only recognizable as being a co-star on the recently ended ' Marcus Welby, MD ' TV medical drama. "
I remember a Futurama episode is based off of this movie. The funniest part is when the car started howling at the moon like a werewolf. It was because Bender was possessed by a werecar.🐺🐺🐺🚘🚘🚘🌕🌕🌕
@STEEL RAIN on the back bumper of the car there was a sticker with the phrase “ If you can read this, I run over you”. Loved that episode, the original car was a mix between The Buick 8 as model and Christine as coloration.
lol
I think there’s also an episode of American Dad where Roger goes around killing people in a limo
ruclips.net/video/pN1im-kbl_k/видео.html
too bad not on Netflix
Satan's Lincoln! At least Old Scratch kept his ride legal with the parking lights, headlights, turn signals and reversing lamps! The only thing that could gig him on a state inspection was the heavy window tint and obscured license plate on the rear of the car. Good times, good times.
State inspectors trying to inspect would've multiplied the kill count...😆😆
@@Galaxy2517 I would really love to see a music video for Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hot Rod" using footage from this movie LOL
Love the "bling" sound effect for the count 🤣
It's a Mario level up sound 💀
My favorite possessed machine film, next to KILLDOZER.
Saw this in a theater in 1977 with a date.
16 year old teenager when I seen it on Big screen, time to dust-off DVD.
1:04 This Scream is Similar to Charles Lee Ray
This was, the first time, i know about ANTON LA VEY.
LA VEY was basically a sideshow Carny Conman who liked REALLY REALLY young women
The headlights and the body work surrounding the lights was perfect.. wat a mean lookin SoB.. 😂😂😂
This is similar to an early Spielberg
TV-movie called "Duel".
Nobody really had a name for
'Road Rage' back then.
Difference between this and Duel was The Car was portrayed as Satan's car
i used to love movies like this !! Christine and the duel and knight rider and herbie goes bananas 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Great movie. I wonder how many "cars" they had to build to make this film?
They built a total of 6 and 3 were destroyed. Hard to say what happened to the other 3
@@Kh06918One is with a private collector somewhere in Europe.
Talk about Christine all you want. There is NO better, meaner killer muscle car than The Car (a custom 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III).
Looks like Christine has a crush on the car
Maybe the car is running from Christine! 😂
@@frankcortes6852 a indestructible Demonic Black Lincoln And A Regenerative Fatal Red Plymouth Would Make A Perfect Couple
4:20 Okay, I did not expect that. Well done, sir.
Funniest death ever!!!! 😂
When I was a kid back in the 70's this movie (the Car) was more terrifying to me than Jaws ever was. A close second place was The invasion of the body snatchers.
I got The Car movie DVD on Christmas. :)
This is still to me one of the all time best movies. I own the DVD. I've been watching this since I was 10. I am almost 57
Such a BA Lincoln! Always enjoyed this one.... 👍👍
That's a bad ass car man !
2:38 why couldn’t he get out of the way?!
Love this flick.
This is my favorite comedy! Too funny. :D
Specially 4:18 to 4:24 🤣
worked with this production crew on old Milwaukee beer jack's chili bus.
I used to run around and make this noise as a kid! 😂
Gotta love the movie trope of cars going over cliffs with nitroglycerin instead of antifreeze in the radiators.
Impressive special effect with the demonic fireball and the actors expressing sheer mortal terror at something sent from the nether regions.
The car and Christine lovely movies
that's I drive a old Lincoln. solid car!
I am the driver! I didn’t die.
Without The Car there would be no Christine.
Without Duel And Jaws There Would Be No The Car
I first saw this movie the summer of 1977...i was 10 years old....afterwards, I had to walk home on a dark road
😱😱😱😱😱😱
I would have ran home screaming
Gosh, James looked so much like a younger Josh back then.
Saw this in the theater when I was 10. This movie and that car are imprinted on my psyche.
The movie that still scares the crap out of me
0:36 "HEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!" 😂😂😂😂
Saw this on TV when I was a kid. They don't have good made-for-tv horrors anymore. 😩
x04 is famous for his yell. he's the one to wake up with his horse head yelling in his bed, Hollywood loves a good yell. in the god father
just think about it,if one beautiful sunny day,you on your way walking to the shopping mall and SUDDENLY you saw “THE CAR” drove to you and when it come closer you tries to run but you accidently see a person drove it not just an ghost car like in the movie and
plost wtist:you saw the real “ghost car” run to you and that the end
the coffin dance music start playing😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
JoBlo, it's time to revisit this film!!
This just screams the 70's.
This will be a REALLY GOOD episode for a TV-MA rated tv show
Amazing video
Just as an evil vehicle as Christine or the Duel truck.
3:36 could’ve instant reversed
The car probably would react before you could get out of the way then.
Everybody run of to the cliffs >.
LOL!
For such a cheesy flick that car is downright terrifying, both in appearance and attitude! As to why it came about, I've heard from old legends that there's certain times of the year when monsters and other entities manifest to feed on blood and such to survive, the car is obviously some ancient evil that took the form of an automobile to terrorize the small rural desert town.
4:18 you can see that the axle broke during filming lol
the car killed 16 people and himself
Nope the car is still alive watch the end credits scene
@@gojifan7976 What?
In the end credits we see the car driving in the city looking for it’s next victim
4:41 i was watching this when suddenly i have had a flashback of the first tremors movie end. yeah yeah, i know , "the car" cames before.
3:39 That face!!! LOL!!! 😜
That's what It called a possessed car.
Scene where the car goes through the living room just has has me irked all these years. From the point where you see the lights of the car come one the scene till the riding sway with the horn blaring 😬🫣
Эх была бы Винтажная -2 часть, где события развивались бы в Нью-Йорке ! Как в финальных титрах первого фильма!
Мечты !
Famous, evil car, christeens evil cousin, saw it when it 1st came out still a good movie
I thought it knocked the rustlers unconscious🤷🏿♀️. I didnt think it killed them. I could b wrong. Thanks for the memories, tho👍🏽👍🏽
I was riding a push bike and a huge truck had no room to pass me, so I dived into the bushes. Don't know why that pair didn't try to get off the road..
Kinda bummed that James didn’t want to cover this 😔✋ I wish he did I sent him a gmail bout it
4:18 In this shot you can see that The Car has a missing tire and in the next shot, he has his tire back.
fun fact....THE CAR itself survived....
I have the replica car. it's wicked cool and looks just like the one in the movie. not gory but it made me feel there was no safe place to hide from the car. you think you're safe when you are home. but the car can fly through your Livingroom and take you out. killer movie. fun facts. James Brolin is Barbara Streisand's husband.Ronny Cox who played Luke is the Boss detective in Beverly Hills cop. Bougemil. the little girls are sisters and one was in Devil dog hound of hell and escape to witch mountain. The dark haired one played Lindsay in the 1st Halloween.
@@johnjvoorhis8087 its a great car
Whats the music used on the intro and ending. Amazing
This was a fun movie
Dumb fun movie 🤣
Do you guys know Who was the car's driver (stunt) ?

The baddest car and the most horrifying, I can't wait to see Christine and the Car exchange fluids, good screen write for Mr Steven King.

You are right. Similar to the movie duel.
Man it’s sad that Lincoln is gone 😢😢
should'nt have gone up there. 3:36
saw this back when I was 6 years old , it came on tv one Saturday night it scared me for a long time I was scared of black cars everytime I saw a black car coming down the street I would run & hide
Loving
Bellissimo film 👍👍
I remember watching this on some old ass tv channel when I was a kid, I think the channel was called ThisTv or somethin.

Guardians of the Galaxy (83.871 CAPUT)
Star Wars ep VII (Hosnian Prime CAPUT)
Avengers: Infinity War (710 kills😮? Half universe CAPUT!)
