In the turn at the end, the P4 smoothed out the end of the rotation and the mavic seemed very abrupt. Was that a pilot thing or is the P4 smoother in the starts and stops?
the phantom 4 has a wider field of view and a clearer resolution whereas the mavic has a narrower field of view with a little more sharper colors, but personally i think the phantom 4 wins because as the views are 2x zoomed in, the phantom develops a much clearer video than the mavic.
Great comparison! I talked with DJI support and they told me that the 4K Bitrate is variable! But they did not tell me under which conditions the software decide to decrease or increase the bit rate. I think this is the problem of the more or less sharpness of Mavic. Cheers DrDuu
That's just RUclips compressing the file. The reason it looks different is because the mavic makes different colours more prominent, good for some people but its not the real thing
Lucas Phantom 4 and Mavic have the same 1/2.3'' sensor, but the Mavic has a litter larger aperture lens, F2.2 vs. F2.8. This lens may lead to more details in dark parts.
It has digital sharpening you potato... No shit its going to look like that. If you do some post processing to the same extent the mavic will look sharper.
is the 'sharpen' settings the same on both teh p4 and mavic? the p4 looks slightly sharper but the mavic looks great too and actually prefer it undersharpened for a more filmic look- too sharp and looks like video as opposed to film.. though the mavic was thought to be softer than the p4 because people weren't properly tapping to focus but assume you did that for this footage with the mavic?

Are you guys looking at the same video? Maybe you should look at it on a 40 inch or larger screen instead of a phone. The mavic is shaky on still vids and moving. Did you see the gimbal shaking on the last segment? Phantom 4 is was smoother.Low light while the mavic was grainy, the phantom handles it way better. Lets talk portability for a sec. Yes the mavic is smaller and takes less time to set up but big deal. In most cases im not in house on fire hurry. Despite the size difference, you still have to dedicate one hand to carry either a case or bag for either one. Maybe on a 3 mile hike thru heavy woods or hills that might make a difference but lets get real.. most wont be doing that.
I watched this at 4k setting on a 2K monitor and the Mavic looked a little brighter and with more color. Hard to tell for sure which is better because they only specified "default settings". Anyways, the Mavic video looks pretty darn good.

Razor E I can understand your point of view people is naturally more attracted by warm color. go pro apple Samsung. they all do that... but is that real ? a good camera is the camera who will record the reality as possible. that allows you more post effects. this is why it's often better to fly and record in D-log. it's will look flat and after you can easily set the ambiant you want. or try to make it look as your own eyes see the scene where you been. 😉

This is the only Mavic for me at this moment. It is risky to test the maximum range. I have almost lost my Phantom last time I did the range test ruclips.net/video/oTr2vtWFYMU/видео.html However, I found that Mavic fly longer and faster than a Phantom. So, if the maximum range of Phantom is 5 KM, I think Mavic can go even longer.
D. Hansel - Walkera had it at last year's show.. Definitely would have rivaled DJI upon it's release. I don't know what happened but it hasn't been released at this point yet. Not State side anyway.
why are most of the Mavic Pro shots closer than you took with the Phantom 4? To me it makes it look like the Mavic takes better pictures because the detail is much closer and I can make out the finer details. Would have been better if when you did side/side or top/bottom the cameras were zoomed in equally. Just my opinion.
TheRattleSnake3145 It is 3 axis gimbal instead of 2 axis gimbal. The movement of gimbal can be very smooth. There are lots of settings in DJI GO for it. And Mavic has a very useful tripod mode for even more smooth footage.
The Phantom 4 is impressive. People cannot believe what it can do. This looks like a huge advance, the picture was more still, smaller, more mobile with slightly more battery. Its seems brilliant until, when was the minute so important, you would need a still picture using it and that size matters! I see no need to release it except to upset the launch of the karma.
ifabbott yes, p4 is very good indeed. There is a new p4 pro and it has a 1inch ccd sensor that offer very good video quality. There are anti-crash sensors in 4 direction so that it is the safest drone ever. Forget karma. It is a joke.
I think you are right... If you check the far distance trees, especially between 2.35 and 2.45, there are 5 trees that have dark red color (in the second line, behind the green trees) and mavic displays them right but p4 displays only the biggest one with brown red color. Is it because of the different standard settings or just the quality of the camera?
Kostas Gur In some videos the Phantom 4 have a better dynamic range than the Mavic (the different aren't big) But a very important advantage have the camera of the Phantom 4... it have a bit rate of 100 mb/s instead of the 60 mb/s from the Mavic. So when you fly fast and turn the camera to the bottom you can see the different web you paused the videos an crop into the images... (Sorry for my bad english ^^)

Apparently there is a Phantom 4 Pro being revealed on 15th November according to a post in a Mavic group I'm a member of on Facebook. Someone was setting up a new Mavic and the P4 Pro was an option to set up.
nice image comparision, First movie with both drone shooting the same images at the same place and same moment. in my opinion the mavic looks better than the p4. The colors are nicer ( warmer) and if you look to the zoom images, you see that the mavic is more stable.Also about the sharpeness, there is hardley a difference. Offcourse when not zooming in you see less movement on the p4 because it has a bigger FOV. I will go for the mavic
Kris Sutherland someone said phantom has better image quality because the sensor is bigger. I think both of them are good enough for most customers. One more thing, the new phantom 4 pro has 1inch sensor, anti-crash radar in all direction and 30mins flight time. It may be another good choice.
A drone is on my list of big purchases next year. Personally might go with the Mavic. It just seems like less of a pain in the ass to deal with because of it's portability.

I fly Phantom 4 and I think Its enough fore me. With that suitecase phantom 4 come With Its also easy to take With me. But so mutch tecnologi in so littel drone like Mavic is awsome! I don't think so. Compressing will degrade both instead only Phantom 4. Mavic seems better with more details and dynamic range.

It is not softer. If you really want Phantom 4 style. You can change the sharp setting of Mavic or by post processing.

we didn't change the setting of both drone. They are factory default value. And, both focus were tapped.

remember P4 has a cpu on the camera that sharpens and stabilizes the image, so MAVIC wins, as you can do it better on computer after you land....

Phantom 4 lens is like a 20mm (35mm equivalent) Mavic Pro lens is like a 28mm (35mm equivalent)
mavic looks like only has a 2 axis gimbal, that yaw dampening needs to be increased.
Phantom has a wide angle camera but Mavic has a narrow angle camera. I think that's why the video stability of Phantom seems a little better.

It is much smaller than Phantom as well. It is not a easy job to carry a Phantom on my bike. However, I can carry 3 Mavic in my tank bag now

Jack Phillipd mavic has a lot of moving parts. That means it's relatively hard to repair. Phantom is simple and I think that means more durable.
