This is so funny, we played at RCA a month or so back and it was a swamp. I remember bringing extra boots and socks with a poncho because of one of your videos a long time ago. We all headed back at lunch and I remember hearing you give yourself a long talk about how you did not bring extra socks and boots. I wanted so badly to thank you for the video reminding me of what to bring. I thought it best not to rub salt in the wounds. Other than that great content my guy and look forward to seeing you at RCA next time.
Great advice for playing in the rain. As far as pants go, I like water resistant pants like under armour b.d.u. type pants if I don't have them, then I too use the "smart layering" that you described.
Played an entire day (pouring) in frogtog and I stayed perfectly dry, but also discovered they show bb damage really well. It was fun to see all my hits after the day was over. If we used frogtog with a bright liner and duct tape as medic that would be hilarious.
Great advice for roughing it out in the rain. I run the same Salomons, and “soupy” is an accurate portrayal. Lol You did forget the option to listen to the recent Gojira album during your downtime to keep your spirits high. 🤘🏻
I highly reccomend also keeping some packets of silica beads from furniture, shipping, etc and putting one with your battery (especially lipos) and if applicable, near any electronics. It won't keep out heavy water ofc. But still sucking up moisture is helpful. Same with the bottom of mag pouches
I've been working on aegs for about 12 years now. Quite a few times I've opened a rain soaked gun from weeks before. I must say, the worse ones were unpainted pot metal gearboxes. The water gets into them, causes corrosion, which then works its way down the barrel. Once that crap dries, it will jam a tight bore and ruin compression. It really sucks to remove. Brass and raw aluminum barrels, they will take bad corrosion damage if not dried after the event. As for electronic mosfets, the water will not harm basic mosfets, but it sure as hell will cause it to fire full auto until it's dry or unplugged. Either have a basic gun without a mosfet or use a relay type switch. A schottky flyback diode can also be on the motor to help prevent trigger contact arcing, and with thicker contacts like lonex or shs, you can basically run up a 400fps at 25rps setup for at least 30k rounds on a 3 cell lipo before rps drops from carbon build up. The gears typically don't rust because they are coated in grease.
Oftentimes, I start overheating at anything above 20°C so sometimes if it's in the high 20's low 30's and it starts raining I won't even put on my rain layer, I only really start looking at a rain layer if it's really pissing, or if it starts hitting 8°C and below. Often times I don't even need to add my insulating layer until -15°C, because with movement and activity I'll probably still be sweating in my raincoat until that point. But then again, my preferred temperature is 15°C and below.
I tried those fogtech dx wipes by your recommendation, they worked awesome and are very convenient in that you don't have to polish anything off. But i tend to sweat directly onto the lens, still creating a vision issue. I probably just need to be in better shape honestly. BUT i wanted to share something that i've found. I haven't used it in game yet or even in training getting all hot and bothered, but i think its going to work pretty well. Its a magnetic lens scrubber by Wide-I. I found them on amazon by recommendation from a smaller airsoft channel. In fact the video is old as hell and i'm surprised more people in the airsoft youtube game haven't talked about it. Its a piece of metal with felt on it that is held onto the inside of your goggle lens with a neodemium magnet on the outside that also has felt on it. You just leave them both on the lens and grab it and wipe it around the lens to clear it. They actually do fit on m-frames without the helo kit, but you would need one for each side. they work flawlessly on my lancer tactical goggles and they don't get in the way of my vision as long as i push them back over to the side of the lens.
I can confirm the importance of drying out your gear after a FTX, in my limited 11A experience. Uniforms, socks, and boots will be mostly destroyed after being wet for 4 or 5 days straight. If you let them sit over a weekend by accident (not that I've done this haha), the smell will never come out, no matter how much you wash the gear. I've found great success with Darn Tough socks paired with Garmonts. Several weeks during training I rucked countless miles on them, soaking wet, and never suffered much foot wear.
Good to see you on the field last weekend! Thanks for your advice on the Krytac, it worked perfectly! It was freakin cold as a witches tit, having 75% of our team puss out Sunday morning didn’t help. As far as advice, I don’t wear waterproof boots, once they’re wet they get heavy and take forever to dry. I embrace the wet and wear wool socks.
Wide-I magnetic goggle wipes..stays on your goggles at all times. Use it to wipe your goggles without taking them off whenever necessary. I haven't tested it yet but i think it might be very helpful.

i always have issus with my optics during rainy days. Its not like that they dont work but due to the water the lenses get wet which prevents me from aiming properly. This is especially bad if your are using a Reddot -Magnifier combination as there are four lenses which can get wet. So all in all its better to play with iron sights during rainy weather.
the first milsim I went to there was torrential downpour and though my goggles fogged a lot and some of the gear I thought would work didn't and I had to change my up kit the atmosphere was awesome and the 2nd day it didn't rain and it was an awesome time. 2019 BFLA desertfoxevents

Great vid, some brilliant hints and tips. Maybe you mentioned it already but If you are going to a mil-sim event with rain forecast bring several spare socks, underwear, layers, uniform etc. Nothing better, more motivating and energizing when mid way through an event getting to swap your soaked through clothes and resetting with dry clothes.
Hey E House, which team at MilSim West games, if any, allows MultiCam Tropic uniforms? I read the TACSOP and it says that only regular MultiCam is allowed for NATO and RUSFOR can only use Russian and Soviet stuff. REGFOR is supposedly allowed to use "Woodland, Green, or any RUSFOR camouflage." Does MultiCam Tropic count as a green camo in this case or would someone be turned away for showing up in MultiCam Tropic? Have you ever seen anyone wear it at a MSW event before?
