First, you made me super-happy: A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon an end-of-season / over-stock / customer appreciation / whatever sale. I scoop up everything I need (or can talk myself into) and, just as I'm about to checkout, see the cool-looking blue rope and say, "Why not?"
It is still in the original bag and I'd almost forgotten about it until your video: I run out to the shed to check and -- YUP! -- It's 150' of Yale Blue Moon! Hoo-RAH!!
Second, for the very old or very retro or competition foot-locking folks, I'd like to mention *Samson Vortex 12.7mm*. The first time I climbed with it, I was like, "The walls bend. I can see the code. I don't even need to dodge bullets."

I'm new to climbing at 66 years old and love it. I've only climbed on Yale XTC Fire 1/2" rope using a Blake's hitch and a Jet Step foot ascender. I pruned dead wood out of my cottonwood tree and one large low hanging limb I sent to Earth on a speedline. I just bought some True Blue but haven't climbed on it yet. When and where will we see the results of your pole on fave climbing ropes? Great video and subject.

Hyperclimb and xstatic are my go to srs ropes as well. Also courant squir is a dream with the akimbo and rr, I barely use it though for work because it’s so pretty 😆. I’m really looking forward to the courant Kalimba coming soon. 11.9mm low elongation. Yas.

I just bought xstatic. I have not climbed on rope yet. I’ll be using a rope wrench and SRT is what that rope is all about. So far all I have done is practice knots, set up a bazooka rope, and went up about six feet and just hung out. Hoping the Teufelberger is more static than the bazooka. The bazooka will still be good rope. I can tell getting my legs involved is important at my age and condition.

Favorite rope currently is the Teufelberger Tachyon is what I am currently switching to and from with the other being a Petzl flow and have been using the flow as my access rope SRT with a zig zag plus then switch to my in tree work or play rope which is the Tachyon Moving rope or DRT. However, I too am looking to purchase a new access rope and was thinking about the Yale Scandre 48strand as my access and had planned to stick with my a Tackyon with a Teufelberger Epicord 9.3 mm . But recently I have become increasingly interested in a RopeRunner and Drenaline for my in tree work and have also considered purchasing a Spider Jack 3 for my in tree work. On my current setup in tree I am using just the closed Moving rope system with the Epicord and using the DMM Rigging Pulley with the Becket as the hitch climber pulley system which not sure why I had not seen it used this way before however with the becket on the opposite side for hooking the rope eye so it is completely out of the way even if not using a eye and have to tie in which has been a safety concern over the last several years and leaves the opposite side of the Becket for one carabiner with the Prusik and the middle open for lanyard or secondary rope off of it and the lower eyelet I hook my harness in. If there is some reason as to why I have not seen this used this way before and I am missing something if someone could let me know however if not and you use a hitch climber system absolutely try this pulley with the Becket hole on the opposite side of the three hole configuration it’s the best I have seen on the market even though made as a rigging pulley

excellent video Casey...i dont have experience with very many different ropes but bluemoon and xstatic are my favorites and seem to be the all I need combo.
i have bas hands and some days I really feel it because of the smaller diameter ropes so i have been really wanting to try the Yale Amori

Great video! Most of my rope experience is with rock climbing and some caving. I'm not sure if I will pursue tree climbing full time, but climbing is in my blood and storm damaged and hazardous trees on my property have motivated my investing in some basic arborist gear. My present and first arborist rope is a 77ft hank of the Yale 11mm-because it fits my GriGri and I'm following Bino's advice of Low and slow. A friend gifted me a hitch climber pulley and rope wrench. From tinkering evenings in my garage for the last few months, I'm finding an endless need for more and more pieces, which will lead to an intricate system which seems to defy the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid). I suppose after volunteering for mountain Search And Rescue for a few years, I now own the prepper mentality, and I spend time practicing futility......such as chasing my split tail around a Blake's hitch...I'm convinced popular 24 strand rope is not suitable for a Blake's hitch. However, Tree Spice Media published a great video where he demonstrated how to access a tree using little more than a black/red/white 16 strand budget Samson Rope, a leather friction saver, and Blake's hitch. I'd like to hear your opinion of 16 strand rope-for hitch climbing and occasional ascender use.

Been in the market for a rope that works well with ascenders. Have you used them much on that Yale Blue Moon? I was thinking about the Teufelberger Drenaline 11.8mm for use with ascenders since I heard the outside doesn't get as messed up from them. Thanks for the video Casey the more info and experience about equipment that is available the better. Take care!

I want that ecstatic rope too. But I was able to get some HAWKEYE AND BLUE STREAK in a BAG O ROPE from tree stuff.. I love it so much I want some 16 strand.. top quality.. so I got the BLUE ELEMENT.. and one of my personal critiques is that the rope doesn't milk!! so sherill tree has a new catalog that lists the ropes with their stats.. and made special note of the ropes that milk.. BLUE ELEMENT has been my work horse like your BLUE MOON

Heard the woodpecker eldird is nice.just bought your tethers and biner, for rope wrech very nice ND and the 4 lanyards are best rope purchase ever 🖐. Arbsession gave me 20 ft blue moon and 12 ft drenaline red white blue ,blue streak and 10 ft vortex. Love the vortex. Exact opposite of what I thought. It's hand is amazing .wish I knew about Arbsession site before. I just bought 200 ft blue moon while back and I cut my 148 ft sliced eye orange petal flow because I needed lanyard with spliced eye orcsliced, and had to cut my flow rope it's firmness works great on the 16 ft lanyard I made all the big stores sell lanyards for high price s.espesicaily last year .I already have pulleys and cords ,Arbsession s lanyards are the best seweneyes on both ends .add the rest and you have same thing as hip star flex only 4 for way less.guna order some more.best ever I'm like kid candy store before I only tried few ropes because had to buy and be stuck with them or sell them.in past bought red white blue or brw 16vstrand like on my monkey beaver saddle it's great16 strand .and pretzel flow .forestry pro.cause it's cheap and for rigging. To.always wanted to try the old poison ivy but cc ant find it.its all sherril tree now.not Yale or Older styles. Being able to try and actually make use of 4 kinds is game changer gives better ideas on what I'm looking for here in Tennessee smokies. Unless u do srt it's best to use 16 strand.unkess u have time to set friction saver s.like the blue moon it's lightest rope ever seen but it's very thin.gettng older and like thicker .wish they maid 5/8 climb lines for srt,to get grip on.new to srt,zig zag works great on most ropes if I get the drenaline that would be only reason. What's a good 24 strand for both natural crotch and running friction savors, going to start trying to use floating crotch ,s to not take all day seting up fir work.and to try new ropes on double rope.guess I could just canopy tie single rope and switch but for work and being injured torn knee and hernia it's what ever can takethst day.you have To try Arbsession its great deals and super quick delivery s...thanks...when I waz young it waz late 90,s nothing like today .wish i starteda tree care then wheni was superman and old man.

I have the Hyperclimb rope and love it. Seems to flatten a little with mechanicals other than that it’s been good. My question is does the Blue Moon seem more rugged than the Hyper? They are the same construction but may vary in material quality. Also I have a Scandere rope but don’t like it due being too stretchy. Thanks

I’ve run a hank of both ropes into the ground and I think the blue moon is sliiightly more durable, but I’ve found both to be very durable if you are careful in the first couple months while it breaks in. Once that cover tightens up and gets firm they both hold up well.
