I wish Theresa May would have finished her term, or perhaps get the chance to do so in the future. In my eyes she is charismatic, diplomatic, and well spoken. She represents Great Britain very well.

She was one of the the architects of the ‘hostile environment’ that has been part of UK society since the Tories came to power in 2010. It was in her tenure as Home Secretary that the Windrush generation injustices began. Go listen to some of her speeches from around 2013-14 and you’ll see what I mean. Not to mention her ‘Brexit means Brexit’ speech that ramped up the hard Brexit we’re now suffering the consequences of. I just want the Tories out as soon as possible

Ultimately she failed to resolve our exit from the EU. My impression is that she lacked the skills to carry people with her approach and objectives. In that respect she was a poor leader.

I don't think it was her 'fault' - what other choice did she have? She was the Prime Minister, her job was to carry out the wishes of the public.

I struggle to identify anything that Tessa May achieved whilst Prime Minister. Although she correctly say that the referendum result was finely balanced she failed to deliver an EU exit that reflected that result. Between Cameron, May and Johnson our country has been led backwards and it will take decades to correct this ill conceived plan.

The future is bleak with Brexit. UK is bogged down with welfare costs.
Brexit Britain is comparable to Thatcher's Britain in 1980s; brused relationship with the EU, rising unemployment, destroyed communities, a broken and divided people, and still run by a political party who keeps telling everyone that if they only work even harder and dream even bigger, something "bloody marvellous" will happen sooner or later.

I detest what she did to the British Police Force, cutting their support and finances to the bone was not a good idea, and the U.K. is still suffering from not having enough police on the streets and the closing of a large percentage of the U.K. police stations. she had the worst, worst job, as PM, ever, because of the extremist on both side of brexit, a clown in the white house and the uncomponising EU, and the stubb DUP, she always kept her composure and dignity, i think not many would have the strenght to carrie on
Theresa May might not have been a great 'retail politician' - but honestly, I think we need less style and more substance across the board. Even if you disagree with May's politics, you have to acknowledge that she is a serious and pragmatic person who was less focused on optics and more focused on working through the policy detail. That's boring, I know, but it's what we need.
Also, the idea that May didn't make a compelling case about why there should be a synthesis between the two sides - I strongly disagree with that. Go back and watch the debates. May made her position abundantly clear, and she was one of the few politicians who was actively trying to find a compromise/balance between both sides. She recognised that it was important to follow the public's clear instructions (the referendum), but she also knew it was important to agree a deal with the EU that would soften the landing (a nod to remainers). I think the issue wasn't with her, it was with a highly polarised and sometimes delusional Parliament.

This is really a fantastic idea and France actually did this very profitably and successfully by getting its former colonies in Africa to sign 'Cooperation Agreements' as a condition for granting them independence. France was able to maintain economic control through the currency CFA Franc, its military presence and commercial enterprises. It is in the process of being dismantled due to recent development after more than a century. But France would have been able to continue this Agreements indefinitely if it had been less exploitative and its Agreements had also really benefited its former colonies. A successful close knit trading bloc could have emerged if France had been more reasonable with its Cooperation Agreements'. BRICS is now the cause of diminishing French power in Africa because BRICS enable its members to have a fairer deal.
Mrs. May carries the vicar's daughter stamp in her head that marked her negotiation style. She managed to fake deliberate, and considered, and substantive, in a Brexit policy utterly rudderless, undefined, and still expecting to cherry pick for advantage from the EU.
It is visionless, transactional, and continues to utterly miss the whole raison d'être of the EU.
It was a pragmatic approach, her plan would’ve eased the financial burden we are currently facing. It was pro brexit mps that pushed for a hard brexit; while having no plan at all for the economy and zero consideration for Northern Ireland.

No Salisbury, Asquith or Churchill PM could ever have handled the mess Britain made of its secession, and no other PM ever has. Even the 1997 version of Blair wouldn't have stood a chance. Chamberlain is always a tricky comparison. What exactly could or should he have done, considering that the UK had a parliament that had chancy votes on proposals then too. He was no dictator with absolute power. Had he returned from Munich to immediately declare a full scale 1938 European war, Britain would have had a very different standing in the world and be mentioned unfavourably in the history books, irrespective of which state authored them. Failure was in the cards in both cases and always guaranteed.
Im not happy on the decisions we make. But its time we do something about it. We are hopeless as people and leave it to the hands of politicians. We need to build a newer system for this county and we are so hopless to do that.

The UK was in the EU for convenience. The problem was, the EU was never interested in a relationship of convenience. The EU is primarily a political project, intent on gradually replacing its members’ law, governance and institutions, with its own. In short, the EU required a far deeper level of commitment than the UK was prepared to offer.
The UK’s relationship with the EU had many perks. But are the perks really worth it in the long run, if you’re not prepared to offer the required level of commitment?
And in the case of the UK and the EU, the answer was simply “no”.
Much of the opposition to Brexit fails to understand this. People are upset about losing the perks and understandably so. But when it comes to the flip side of the perks - the commitment - they are often dismissive or blasé. One often finds Brexit opponents denying the true nature of the project: “It’s just a trade bloc”; “Its rules are basically just trade rules”; “It doesn’t constrain national sovereignty…” are things one often hears.
I’m usually quite dismissive of claims like that. It shows the speaker is aware about very little about the union they claim to want to be a member of. You don’t make a case for something by denying the reality of that ‘something’ you’re trying to make a case for. For me, they prove the very point they claim to be arguing against.
You want to be a member of a trade bloc that’s all peace, love, harmony and goodwill towards mankind, governed by simple, commonly agreed rules but with no overarching political ambition of its own? How very interesting. Go set one up then because a union such as the one you described, is not on offer. In the European context, it simply does not exist. You have just described, very eloquently indeed, why the UK should not be a member of the EU.

Many people work after 65 to supplement their pensions. Many can't live on their pension these days so you have to plan ahead if you want to be active and stay as independent as possible. If anything, you have to plan a lot more carefully when you get older.
Young people were so in favour of remain that only 40% of them voted. This isn't a good metric.
