@@NewfieMovieReactions haha. Spider-Man says “I can’t let you open a portal to another dimension” to GG, but I think he’s referring to the collective organization working under Kingpin as “you”. Still, too funny that 20 seconds after you laugh at the personal biases joke, you’re under the same false assumption about Liv’s role in the villain hierarchy
Peni Parker is from a comic called Sp//der. In that comic, she's a bit older and has a bigger mech - the whole thing is a bit of a parody of the Japanese animated show _Neon Genesis Evangelion._
That line Spider-Ham says, "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody." Really chokes me up, even to this day. In every single superhero story, someone important to them that they couldn't save (like Uncle Ben, or Gwen Stacy in the spider-Man comics,) is a traumatizing memory that stays with them the most, their driving force to do their very best and try not to let anyone else die. But it's an impossible task, the cruel reality, and a rather mature theme that I'm glad they touched on.
One of the greatest messages I've seen in media is that even if you can't save everyone, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. But you also have to accept that it's not your fault for failing to save someone.
Part of the Spider-Man curse is that he will lose an Uncle Ben type figure and will have to either overcome the tragedy that surrounds or fall under the weight.
I don’t know, I love this style but if this became a trend for animation it would lose its glamour I feel like and people would watch every movie with extreme scrutiny, and it would be the new criticism for movies. Today, people are quick to hate on movies with a lot of cgi and are very judgmental of the quality of such effects and I can’t not see that happening with animation like this. I’d like to keep some things iconic and not ruin the magic of it being the first franchise to ever do this.
There are some great videos online explaining the technical process but they had to create and invent new ways of rendering the animation for this movie to get the look they were going for, as if it's a comic book come to life. The way that it handles backgrounds, lights, and shadows are ALL custom designed systems. It's absolutely mind boggling how much they did to break with convention
Peni parker is from a comic. It was made by Gerard Way of my chemical Romance fame. He also made an amazing run of doom patrol and made the umbrella academy.
"He sounds like Nick Cage." Because it is Nick Cage. "He sounds like that stand up comic, I can't remember his name." John Mulaney, because it is. Aunt May is Lilly Tomlin. It's a spectacular cast.
My favorite Spiderman fact is that his ability to stick to things is a very insane power. He actually has the ability to increase the molecular attraction between his body and what he touches.
@@NewfieMovieReactions I'm excited to hear him kill it in the sequel, and Peter Porker was voiced by John Mulaney, he was on Saturday Night Live from 2008-2018, and it was his film debut
i'm so glad you love this!! :DDDDD i'd explain the animation as a flipping a comic book; the choppiness fits it so perfectly. and the moments where scenes stop for a second like a comic panel is so beautiful
I love the shot where he's falling at 31:53. Someone had posted on tumblr back when this first came out and said something along the lines of "Miles isn't falling, he's raising." I think about that often
Not just the best comic movie ever, perhaps, but I'd argue this is among the best MOVIES ever, full stop. It's difficult to say enough good things about this film.
On the electricity thing, most spider-men have it (Toby version being an exception) and that is how they stick to things. Just that on Milles that power is way stronger than for Peter to the point he can use it to attack. On a similar note normally Peter spider sense is stronger than Miles.
Earth-1610 -> Miles Morales's universe Earth-616 -> Peter Benjamin Parker universe (knows about Comic Con, likes sweat pants) Earth-65 -> Gwen Stacy who became Spider-Woman. Earth-90214 -> Spiderman Noir Earth-14512 -> Peni Parker universe Earth-8311 -> Peter Porker also known a Spider-Ham.
the universe miles is in is kinda like the ultimate universe, thats why green goblin was huge, and also why peter died, obviously theres many differences like how peter died in the comics compared to the movie but yea those are the similarities
One of my all time favorite theater going experiences was watching this film... I was utterly blown away and it became my fave Spidey film... It also has my second favorite soundtrack of all time, only behind "The Crow"
Something I love about Earth-1610 (Miles Universe also known as the Ultimate Universe) is the different changes from our own universe. For example the NYPD are called the PDNY while Coca-Cola is called Koca-Cola along with a few other changes as well relating to brands, movies, etc. While Peter B Parker is from Earth-616 a universe closer to our own where we see everything looking how it's meant to be. Peter B Parker can be seen as the main Spider-Man being from Earth-616 but it's unclear if this is actually the Earth-616 from the comics the Main Marvel Universe or if the display just happened to give Peter B Parker's universe the number of Earth-616. It's like how the MCU has been called Earth-616 etc. Seems logical that universes would see themsevles as nubmer one just like how DC has many "Hey we're from Earth-1" "Ah sorry you're Earth-31 we're actually Earth-1" stuff like that lol The Green Goblin is acutally inspired by The Ultimate Goblin from the Ultimate Universe you're correct but in this film he wears his classic hat pulling from the Earth-616 comics as well. Instead of becoming insane with increased strength like we see in the Earth-616 comics and Spider-Man 1 Norman became this monster like Goblin after he injected himself with a failed Super Solider Serum. The Ultimate Universe started with Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000 introducing a new fresh young universe where Marvel could reimagine and modernize their Marvel characters starting with Peter Parker in High School as a 15 year old in the year 2000. it was also created to bring in a younger generation who may be too scared or worried jumping into a universe with 70 years worth of comic book history. Even though Miles universe is labelled Earth-1610 on Kingpins display it's not really accurate to Earth-1610 from the comics. Peter being blonde is different along with his death and how Peter and Miles met to the comics. So I personally wouldn't class this as the Ultimate Universe from the comics as it's too different but the idea of Miles becoming Spider-Man after the death of Peter is pulled right out of this universe. The Ultimate Universe is also closer to ours as well from pop culture to brand names etc. But I do like the spin they put on it in this film. in term of the Female Doc Ock this is something created for this film. Doc Ock does exist in the Ultimate Universe and you can actually see his Metal arms in both Peter B Parkers introduction comic set on Earth-616 and Spider-Gwen as well who was fitting Male Doc Ock when she was pulled out of her universe. Maybe there's a Male Doc Ock in Miles universe who knows but it's an interesting change. There are female Doc Ock like characters but they don't take the name Doc Ock.
The numbering of the different universes seems to have no rhyme or reason. They just pick arbitrary numbers. And of course, there's no reason why the people in one universe would use the same number designations as the people in another universe.
@@CaptainAmercia since time travel was a factor in how the collider worked, my money is on Peter B Parker being Spider Man Prime from the main Marvel Comics universe 616, but from the future. He's portrayed as his life having the infamous "Parker luck" (unlike golden boy Spidey from Miles' universe), with nothing ever going Peter's way, at least not for long. Even the B in his name can be explained by the clone saga, since Peter went by several names over that storyline's long history, never being entirely sure if he was the original Peter or one of many clones.
this is easily the best comic to motion picture movie out there the style and techniques they used are impeccable i highly recomend watching the corridor crew react to the making of this movie
This was such an amazing experience in theaters and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to watch it there twice. Can’t wait for the second AND third one to come.
I bet you couldn’t wait to spoil that for all the people that didn’t listen to the announcements of these movies. AND I knew and didn’t tell anyone that didn’t know. You must have been so excited to post this too. Even spoiled it for Newfie who knew nothing about the franchise. But as long you know it was you who got to post this. Great post. 🫥
Just noticed that on the test that Miles failed on purpose, the date he used was Decembuary. Cant even tell if Decembuary is a real month in that universe or if that was just part of Miles little rebellion
Glad you enjoyed this, I absolutely LOVE this movie. Somewhere in my top 3 of all time. In answer to one of your questions, no it wasn't in 3D in the theatres, but it WAS freakin' amazing. Also, if you look in the background throughout Miles' universe, you can see subtle differences from our own, such as the New York Red Sox, Steph Curry being a baseball star, and the cola in a red can being called Koka-Soda.
The animation was done in twos to keep the whole comic book look at every frame of the movie. You can find a video of the animator or director talking about the animation method that was used and it pretty much influenced a lot of animated movies afterwards, like Puss in Boots: The last wish.
Yeah I knew they got married in the comics, but I was wondering why that Aunt May knew that Doc Ock... Unless they got married in that world too. Haha. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions There's two fan theories on this: 1. They were married briefly like the comic, or at least dated 2. Given this Aunt May's technical skills (making the webshooters for Miles) she might have been a university science teacher / lecturer of Liv
"Into the Spiderverse" was the last movie Stan Lee did before he died, so his lines hit differently when you know that. And, after the fall Miles always have tied shoes :p
Kind of surprised that you didn't know Peter Porker, the Amazing Spider Ham. He's been around since 1983, and is quite possibly Marvel's very first multiverse character.
I think in this universe its Aunt May who is the super genius. Earlier in the movie Doc Oc says that only her friends call her Liv and Aunt May calls her that when Doc shows up at her house, implying that they have worked together at some point or at least known each other for a long time.
I'm 45 years old now... I used to read the spider ham (peter porker) comics when I was like 11 years old. I love REALLY knowing comics. I'm old school baby! When i saw peter porker, I stood up and yelled in excitement. ITS SPIDER HAM!
Explaining Miles Morales: He was the most popular character in the Ultimates universe, so they brought him to the main universe after the Ultimates was shut down. Donald Glover asked in an interview why he couldn't be cast to play Spider-Man. I think he meant Peter Parker, but a comic book writer heard that and was inspired to create Miles. Peter Parker is a science prodigy. Miles is really smart, but he's more of a generalist. Alchemax is the evil corporation that employs Spider-Man 2099 in the future. Peter Porker is a spider who was bitten by a radioactive pig. Miles' venom strike is different. It has a different effect on each species, e.g. humans vs mutants vs inhumans. Spider-Gwen is being hunted by the chief of police: her father. She and Miles have an international romance in the the comic books. Almost every 3D animated movie after this was influenced by this movie.
I am so happy you liked this movie! It is one of my favorites. I saw this in the theatre and I was blown away! Not only is Spider-man my favorite superhero, I love animation and Sony Animations blew this one out of the park! The style is so creative and interesting. I even went to see the movie again a few days after I saw it the first time. I just enjoyed it that much. I don't know much about Miles Morales but I have heard a lot of people say that Into the Spider-verse is one of the best Spider-man movies out there, and this Miles is the best Miles Morales. Great reaction! Looking forward to the sequel ✨
I saw this 7 times in the theater, including 4 in 3-D. I watch a lot in 3-D and this was absolutely some of the very best still. The snow in the cemetery scene was magical
Jefferson does the " say I love you" because he's a cop. He knows that every day he goes on the beat could be his last so, he wants to have the memory of his son saying, "I love you."
I wasn't very keen of this movie on the first watch but every time I rewatch it, I love it even more... somehow it gets even better than the last watch
Oh wow it took me until you said “hard case” to realize you’re a Newfie 😂 I was wondering why I felt so at home. Always a nice surprise! I’m a Newfie myself
@@NewfieMovieReactions I’m not sure if it’s a saying as much as it’s a word that we just say a certain way that’s easy for us to sense lol. Kinda like the word “car”.
The post credit scene is the BEST!! hahahaha love it! Really, honestly this is my all time favorite Spider-Man movie. I never get tired of it no matter how many times I've seen it. And I cant wait for the new one!!
Spider-Ham sounds like that one stand-up comedian because he is voiced by said stand-up comedian, John Mulaney Speaking of which, who was Peter Porker’s Uncle Ben moment? I saw someone mention Uncles Ben & Jerry or something as a joke lmao
Tbh no matter if Aaron knew that the "Spider Kid" was MIles he still was ready to kill a kid XD I think that is messed up part, knowing your uncle smiles at you and then murrders a child as a livin XD
A lot of the background color shading is done with Hatching, Cross-Hatching, Stippling, Scumbling, and even some smudging. It creates this beautiful comic-book world. We got used to computers being able to just change the color for us, sometimes we have to shade it for ourselves- it looks better in the end.
All I could think of when I saw spider pig was the simpsons movie. Where homer sticks a pig in a spider man suit. ~ Spider pig Spider pig Does whatever a spider pig does. Can he swing from a web No he can’t cause he’s a pig Look out it’s spider pig ~
Miles is from the 1610 Ultimate Universe. 1610 was rolled into 616 following Secret Wars. Also, stealth easter egg, her cover name is WANDA and she's attending the VISION Academy. This is the most obscure easter egg in the entire movie.
A lot of the animation is computer generated, but they're also hand animating small details (like wrinkles and crows feet and expressions) over top. If you listen again, you can hear all the Spider People whispering when his Spider Sense activates for the first time.
my fav fun fact about this movie is that in the beginning miles is animated at half the framerate as peter b parker to show him being inexperienced through less fluid web swinging
I would really suggest finishing ultimate Spider-Man because I think that was the cleanest introduction of Miles Morales and the main couple of issues I think this movie took inspiration from when Miles became the focus character of ultimate Spider-Man after… a certain very tragic issue I don’t want to think about
You said Green Goblin looked like the Ultimate version of him, and you were right, it was. When the ultimate Spider-Man of that world died, that's when Miles came into the world
I've been wanting to watch this for over a year, but I never had the chance, and so with the sequel coming out soon, I had to make time for it. I'm glad I did! :)
37:11 this was the first movie i saw in 3d and it wasn’t as fun as you might think. i had to take the glasses off every 5 seconds because it hurt my eyes lol.
Awesome reaction man! Just found your channel and already subbed! Your shirts are beyond cool😎 They have a lot of the same art from the app Black Art, which I use to put some graphics as wallpaper on my phone; always thought that they'd look cool on tshirts. I think I'd choose the Book shirt as I'm a Book-aholic😂
I love Into The Spider-Verse, I love the story and the characters and the use of the Multiverse (Spider-Verse, actually), and how it still works as a coming-of-age story for Miles Morales while at the same time making the stakes higher and personal. I can't wait for your reaction to the next movie, Across The Spider-Verse! We're all on edge for it. No Way Home is a great Spider-Man movie and all but Into The Spider-Verse did it first and does it better, and it just feels like a breath of fresh air in telling a great superhero origin story. I love Peter Parker, but Miles Morales is officially my favorite Spider-Man after seeing this over 40 times already
i’m sure people already told you, but the penny parker character is from like a one off special like spider man anthology? i think? it was pretty cool actually. this is a different rendition, but its based of that.
Newfie, I appreciate your feedback and insight. Sadly, I have been kind of anti-Marvel since they tried to take down City of Heroes when their lawyers themselves created the heroes/toons they used to cite breach of copyright. The animation is different from that used by DC (I think it is mostly computer generated) whereas both DC and Marvel use stylized exaggeration (large jaws for DC, larger eyes and sleeker heads for Marvel.) I look forward to your comments and impressions on this movie- I'm not totally anti-Marvel. Also, if you want to get totally blown away, please consider for a future review DC's animated Injustice movie. Thanks much for your entertainment =)

I think in this universe its Aunt May who is the super genius. Earlier in the movie Doc Oc says that only her friends call her Liv and Aunt May calls her that when Doc shows up at her house, implying that they have worked together at some point or at least known each other for a long time.
Every frame in this movie can be used as a wallpaper
19:51 - my favourite part about this movie is that the soundword for getting smacked in the head by a bagel is just *BAGEL*.
I'm 45 years old now... I used to read the spider ham (peter porker) comics when I was like 11 years old. I love REALLY knowing comics. I'm old school baby! When i saw peter porker, I stood up and yelled in excitement. ITS SPIDER HAM!
19:53 the Bagel Effect The Spot villain Origins
I would describe this art style as a 3-D Comic Book in Motion. It feels like you’re staring at a comic and the characters are moving and talking
Explaining Miles Morales:
He was the most popular character in the Ultimates universe, so they brought him to the main universe after the Ultimates was shut down.
The universe of original miles is "a" ultimate universe
And peter b parker is 616 spider man (not the mcu spider man, the mcu should be earth 199999)
Nice to see a comic fan watch thism very refreshing
When the collider is first turned on you can hear a female saying "connecting to five alternate dimensions," that's the voice of Olivia.
I wasn't very keen of this movie on the first watch but every time I rewatch it, I love it even more... somehow it gets even better than the last watch
The way this movie plays with visuals is so good!! Miles is animated at half the frame rate as everyone else until he takes his leap of faith.
19:53 The Bagel Effect 💀
Iv watched this a dozen times over with my kids, love it!
not sure if you noticed, when peter was seeing MJ and Gwen said she's been there she was talking about her seeing him since she had lost her peter
Peter B. Parker is from our universe a ton of people don’t notice it, you just have to look at the ads in each world before they are sent to Miles’
Oh wow it took me until you said “hard case” to realize you’re a Newfie 😂 I was wondering why I felt so at home. Always a nice surprise! I’m a Newfie myself
Hahaha I didn't even realize that was a Newfie saying until you pointed it out. :)
That cursed bagel.....
Spider-Ham sounds like that one stand-up comedian because he is voiced by said stand-up comedian, John Mulaney
Speaking of which, who was Peter Porker’s Uncle Ben moment? I saw someone mention Uncles Ben & Jerry or something as a joke lmao
Yup thats it!
Bro I love your movie selections right on time made my day💯
Glad you enjoy them! :)
Tbh no matter if Aaron knew that the "Spider Kid" was MIles
he still was ready to kill a kid XD
I think that is messed up part, knowing your uncle smiles at you and then murrders a child as a livin XD
Literally just clicked on the video, and already my day is better because im here!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it. I know I sure did! The movie is amazing.
this movie is beautiful in every way
I absolutely loved this the first time watching this. Thanks for the upload
Thanks for watching. :D
I just realised at 2:37 he put the date as decembruary 🤣
Remember guys, Peter Parker is Peter Parker and miles morales is miles morales
Pay attention to the background! So awesome when you realize the differences
I never noticed this but at 10:17 you can see the flashes of Peter B, Gwen, Peni and Noir don’t know if Ham is there too though
A lot of the background color shading is done with Hatching, Cross-Hatching, Stippling, Scumbling, and even some smudging. It creates this beautiful comic-book world. We got used to computers being able to just change the color for us, sometimes we have to shade it for ourselves- it looks better in the end.
the reason it works is because its animation, they did try to do that in live action, its called the ang lee hulk...
All I could think of when I saw spider pig was the simpsons movie. Where homer sticks a pig in a spider man suit.
~ Spider pig
Spider pig
Does whatever a spider pig does.
Can he swing from a web
No he can’t cause he’s a pig
Look out it’s spider pig ~
When I took my dad to watch the movie in theaters with me (he’s not big into superheroes) that’s exactly what he thought!
When I saw this in the theater…for a few minutes, I thought I was in the 3D version.
Miles is from the 1610 Ultimate Universe. 1610 was rolled into 616 following Secret Wars.
Also, stealth easter egg, her cover name is WANDA and she's attending the VISION Academy. This is the most obscure easter egg in the entire movie.
This is not Earth 616. They dont have Comic Con 😁
A lot of the animation is computer generated, but they're also hand animating small details (like wrinkles and crows feet and expressions) over top.
If you listen again, you can hear all the Spider People whispering when his Spider Sense activates for the first time.
It took me this long to realize spiderham was eating a hot dog
Wait a minute
Isn’t that cannibalism?
I'm seeing alot of reactions to this movie and I'm not sure why but I'm not complaining
I think it's because the sequel comes out soon and I wanted to have the first one done. That's my reason as least. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions oh fair enough that makes sense
@@jxy8938 just like there’s alot of recent john wick movie reactions because John Wick 4 came out
Most spider people don't stick using tiny hairs like Tobey. It's a low level field that surrounds their whole body.
Those nukes also got bit by the spider lol
my fav fun fact about this movie is that in the beginning miles is animated at half the framerate as peter b parker to show him being inexperienced through less fluid web swinging
I would really suggest finishing ultimate Spider-Man because I think that was the cleanest introduction of Miles Morales and the main couple of issues I think this movie took inspiration from when Miles became the focus character of ultimate Spider-Man after… a certain very tragic issue I don’t want to think about
Subscribed for your awesome content
Thanks Willis! You are awesome!
You said Green Goblin looked like the Ultimate version of him, and you were right, it was. When the ultimate Spider-Man of that world died, that's when Miles came into the world
Penni Parker pilots a different mech. The one I remember looks like a big Evangelion thing.
I’m so jealous of you because you only have to wait a month for the sequel
I've been wanting to watch this for over a year, but I never had the chance, and so with the sequel coming out soon, I had to make time for it. I'm glad I did! :)
Subscribed!!! I’m really excited for your reaction for the 2nd movie. ITSV was already epic, but ATSV even took it a notch higher! 🔥🔥
Thanks! I'm going to check it out as soon as the digital release is available. :) Can't wait.
@@NewfieMovieReactionsyou need to see it in theaters, in the biggest screen possible, I promise is worth every penny!
37:11 this was the first movie i saw in 3d and it wasn’t as fun as you might think. i had to take the glasses off every 5 seconds because it hurt my eyes lol.
Loved this movie
For sure dude. This one was on another level.
right...fancy armor with no protection...unless Kingpin had a armor piercing round.
i can't believe I'm finally getting a sequel to this shit
YESSS YOU RECOGNIZED IT. ITS JOHN MULANEY AS PETER PORKER
That's it!! John Mulaney! I knew it was a stand up comic. Thanks! :)
Miles is actually 13 in this movie so he'd be in last year of middle school at the academy
He's only 13? Woah. I thought he was like at least 17 or so in this. Haha
@@NewfieMovieReactions yeah its freaky hoe much pressure that is for him in literal middle school
Nice! Yeah, I love the book one as well. However, the Music shirt was a tight second for me.
Spider-Verse takes place in its own version of the Ultimate Universe, not 616. Peter B Parker is supposed to actually be 616 lol
i’m sure people already told you, but the penny parker character is from like a one off special like spider man anthology? i think? it was pretty cool actually. this is a different rendition, but its based of that.
Yup that was Nicholas Cage.
You should watch all the DC animated universe. It is great
