This was the Japanese exclusive Optimus Prime that represented his final resurrection in G1. One cool feature is that the blue tank attached to the back of Prime's legs is an updated Roller.
I saw this reveiw maybe 2 years ago and thought it was the Galaxy Force line. It was before I knew about the G1 line.Anyway the leg stoage thing is also done by G1 Metroplex and a different version of the leg storage is done by Fortress Maximus.
Not only collector. You know, youtube has kids on it, I watch these reviews to check out which one is the best and spend my money wisely.
I don't even like transformers or transformer toys, but i love watching these videos...
It's like the American Chopper show, I dont even care about motorcycles, but I like watching Pauly Sr and Pauly Jr and mikey...
It's the same effect, this guy is interesting and fun to watch.
I bought this figure at BotCon 2 years ago. Love it.
Star Convoy is a very interesting figure because it has the most stylised appearance of the early G1 optimus primes until the animated toyline
Saying he's a Japanese version of Optimus Prime is a bit misleading: Optimus Prime was the same in Japan as it was in the west. Rather, Star Convoy represents an incarnation of him that was never seen in the west; he appeared in a story continuity that only exists in a shape of story pages and a single chapter of manga. In a way, he's the last Optimus Prime in G1.
about $70 not including shipping. It's not an awful toy, but there are many other Primes to spend the money on. I got a great deal on one, and it is an interesting conversation piece.

This guy and Super megatron (from a comic serise that takes place after headmasters i believe) is where some of the designs for animated optimus and megatron came fron
Like super megatron has a simler arm design (very simler) and head design (at the same inspird by G1 megs) and star convoy of the chest and torso
Animated Optimus Prime and Megatron were actually based on Star Convoy and Super Megatron, according to Wikipedia.
He was from a Japanese released-manga called Battlestars: Return of Convoy.
A nice review, though you might've mentioned a few other things about this toy.
For instance, the Base mode is designed to connect to other (post Victory Force season) big bots in base mode. (ex: Skygarry)
Secondly, the Hotrod micro master figure was reissued with THS02-Convoy (Hybrid Style G1 O.P.) and is the most often used micromaster in the knock-off circuit (clear,black,crystal,etc. versions are fakes).
I want one of these. I like the look of the reissue box better than the original.
At least this guy has more articulation than Power master Prime had, for the time these were made in articulation was not a concern, it seemed whoever had the biggest bot back in the day was the coolest kid lol

He bought his at botcon, but yeah, on ebay its usually 60 to 80 bucks, depending on if its a reissue.

The movement is limited, like any G1 toy, but overall, it's a pretty awesome piece. I have it and like it very much.
He's a nice bot, I like him.

Didnt notice untill now but his transformations a little bit simular to Optimus Primal from Beast Wars.

Convoy is prime's name in japan deal with it, there's a Japanese fan probably saying the same thing
His vehicle mode looks similar to armada prime while his robot mode looks similar to his cybertron or animated mode
this is just so worth it- only for the hotrod in the package

when i played wit hpower ragers megazord they had NO leg articulation adn still don't but i played with them inspite of that reason :d
he completely reminds me of cybertron prime

Convoy's last G1 Incarnations are separated in two.
- in American storyline. his final fate was Action Masters, forgo transformation in exchange with "More human" feeling... I disagree with this Ending since Hasbro already has G.I. Joe. as ACTION FIGURE. (and a fan project portrayed that some 1st season characters become cyborg (with more fleshes). which this is the REAL actionmaster)
- Japanese. Convoy became BIGGER than before! but no legs articuation (same as Return of Convoy sub lines)

why did they make a prime without movable legs? key kev did you get the taka mastarpiece optimus prime? the one with the trailer.

Yeah. I thought at first the creators deformed G1 OP's chest to make him look more like the silly cartoons we know, like Looney Tunes, Class of 3000, etc.

So, the legs don't move? Well, I never liked anything after G1 season 3 anyhow. Star Convoy or anything from Headmasters on didn't float my boat.
the original diecast metal shouldve been used on this wouldve been better

He's not electronic he's motorized. Plus why even review him at all if you are not going to show off everything the toy can do. I confused.
