This is ridiculous, not "sublime." The only thing worse than the script is the acting. They didn't even get the story right. The king played the theme on fortepiano, not flute, and Bach improvised on fortepiano, not harpsichord.

@@herrickinman9303 This isn’t the actual movie. It’s only a little bit of it. The actual piece of music is an overdubbing with a more professional recording.
You don't know what you're talking about. It's a documented fact that In the actual meeting between Bach and the king, the king played the theme on fortepiano, not on flute, and Bach improvised on fortepiano, not on harpsichord.
This was not in the original movie.... but it is an improvement on the original movie. I think that Bach actually played this one out. Nice that the His Majesty did not interrupt the process. I was offended at that in the original movie.
And yet in reality, asshat frederick - who was an absolute monster, bully and psychopath and loved to psychologically torture those around him for his enjoyment - DID interrupt the recital, because he ass disappointed that Bach managed to do it. After all, frederick conceived of the whole thing only to embarass bach, giving him a theme he thought it impossible to turn into a fugue - he purposely had bach’s son write a theme that would be contrapunctually near impossible to make into a fugue. Let alone extempore. The movie was right.
@@ato12ato Johann Sebastian Bach (1983) by Lothar Bellag, starring an unbelievable Ulrich Thein as J.S. Bach. Great 4-part movie. I bought the DVD and never regretted it.
O, dies ist wundervoll. Verzeihung---ich spreche nur Englisch. Aber der grosser Bach bei dem papier-maché Fredriech ist wundervoll. Bach wird in Ewigkeit leben --Friedrich in Buecher.
It is just a picture of Johann Sebastian bach, going straight from 6:10 to 9:55... How come? Did you see anything? Sometimes music have a strange effect on the mind, enjoy it with your eyes closed are wise words, dont let your eyes distract you.
You want put Bach…in a corner….then….he be make you look like an idiot…by his genius musical mind…he’s lightyears ahead of you….still today….no human musicians…after 350 years…can compare with…Bach’s unique masterpieces.
Sublime!

Thank you mr camera man for going back in time to capture this amazing moment. 😆
Ulrich Thein even looks like Bach himself. The Germans (this is a 1985 East German production) has a thing for detail.

私は、1985年にカッセルにいて、東ドイツのDDR2のデレビ放送でバッハ物語を見ました。このビデオがそれなのか、どうなのか、わかりませんが、このシーンは良く憶えています。
Love bach feat Fredrick
Most wonderful! Are English subtitles available? Is it a movie or series?
This is a 1985 East Germany mini series starring Ulrich Thein as Bach. The series is on RUclips but the dialogue all in German.
