That's actually a pretty low bar. People literally buy and sell admissions like that in prison. You wouldn't believe how often this comes up for people who are incarcerated.
@@Omni0404perhaps that part sure, but the fact they didn’t find his DNA on the weapon, jury selection tampering, and a prosecutor under investigation for doing what just happened here (sent another man to prison for life when he was innocent) All this should have been enough to stay his execution again while investigations are performed
I don’t believe in the death penalty because of this kind of thing. Also, more than once I’ve had everyone in a room swear I did or said something I did not do or say.
Whether Justin Bieber was witnessed or experienced abuse by Diddy people shouldn't be trying to make jokes about like using AI to make songs. Men already have much lower rates of reporting SA and making jokes like this won't help. People should let Justin tell his story when he is ready and not force him to tell a story he isnt ready or doesnt want to tell, and give him support when he does.
That AI song isn’t a joke. Nobody is joking about Bieber. Everyone is sad and feeling sorry, realizing now that his spiraling could very well be the result of the trauma he suffered at the hands of diddy
Yeah whoever made the AI song definitely wasn't doing it for laughs. If it was a joke the lyrics would have made light of the situation. Its very specific. You might be reading into it either too much or not enough if you think that song was a joke making fun of JB.
@@elodieelvira7913 The industry itself is already traumatic, especially to kids, doesn't really need a Diddy for that. Could he have had a hand? We'll never know unless Justin says something. That's for him to do not you and not sicko fans doing AI shit.
PHIL PLEASE PLEASE I BEG OF YOU, You need to talk about the situation at Gettysburg college. A black student was held down and had the N-word CARVED into his chest by his own swim team members. This happened over 2 days ago and NO ONE has seemed to speak about it, and the people who have are being drowned out by celebrity news.
For her own sake, someone has to be on Chappell's side telling her to take a break from the internet sometimes. People on the internet are going to decide whatever they want, going to think what they want, and they'll never know your heart. Arguing with the internet is just not good for her peace, it never will be.
I agree. During that second video all I could think was "get off TikTok". Not because I don't feel she should share how she's feeling - more so that she doesn't NEED to always share. Sometimes silence is better. It is not the job of celebrities to remind grown ass adults to vote.
i honestly think she needs to just stop replying. i'm indifferent to her, personally, but she doesn't need to respond to every single thing. it reinforces that parasocial relationship dynamic that she has said before she doesn't want. she needs to step away and create distance between her and her fanbase.
Well it’s exhausting when people misunderstand you, especially if she’s a person that likes to be understood. She’ll learn that the internet is toxic & these peoples opinions mean nothing.
YUP couldn't agree more. She doesn't seem to realize that the way she responds to any "controversy" surrounding her just gives more fuel to the fire of everyone's opinions about her. She wants to keep acting like and being treated like a "regular person" when I'm sorry babe but you're a celebrity now. It's a different reality whether you want that to be true or not.
People don't mention evidence of his guilt because it's not DNA. He was selling items from victims flat day after her murder. People apparently have different definitions for reasonable doubt. Death penalty just shouldn't exist.
Appeals presume the first trial was correct. Technically the person was already found guilty in a court of law. He was innocent until that court ruled. The only way to appeal is to prove that court was wrong and it's a really high bar. Not saying it's fair or okay, but that's the system.
He had a trial, and was proven guilty in that trial. So yes, he is then guilty until proven innocent. But obviously he shouldn't be executed if there is any shred of doubt.
I applaud Chappell Roan for standing up for herself.. but I think her continuing to allow the internet mob to live rent free in her head will ultimately ruin her mental health.
Dude just had his first kid and people pestering his socials and probably triggering some horrifying memories…. between him and Diddy’s kids a lot of inocente people getting retraumatized by morons playing detective online.
I admit I was among those who cracked jokes at Beiber when he went through some of his bottom moments but looking back I have shake my head at myself. Poor guy got hit with a lot of fame at a young age and didn't really had an anchor in his life. No doubt being older and slowed down from health has caused him to be more reflected on his life and fame. And the poor guy is only 30.
@@biazacha They don't understand how it feels. Even if something happened, I'm sure he doesn't want to talk about it. These freaks pretending to be good people need to stop.
The Marcellus Williams Case is so confusing to me in terms of the justice system’s reasoning. This is not an innocent until proven guilty. This seems like it’s a guilty until proven innocent because, from what I see, the ‘evidence’ provided can absolutely *not* prove *beyond a reasonable doubt* that he was guilty. There is a lottt of reasonable doubt.
Williams was guilty as hell. He admitted to killing the women to his girlfriend and cell mate. She saw him destroy the bloody clothes, he was in possession of the stolen items from the house. Career criminal .
I mean in many cases getting arrested had the same impact and harm as if you were guilty. If you have to wait in jail for trial, that's guilty before innocent. Personally I think we need to accept that there is a phase where both and neither are true. But that's a weird concept to grasp especially emotionally
Honestly, regardless of if it was at the hands of Diddy or not, with the ways he very openly acted out, it's clear something hurt him. Maybe it was just the realities of fame, maybe something darker, but no one comes out of Hollywood unscarred
From someone from the UK I understand where Chappell Roan is coming from, you have a 2 party system with one party turning far right and the other paying lip service to the right. It's clear that she's saying the Dems are the lesser of 2 evils but that doesn't mean you have to be happy with what there is and to push for improvement. I think the solution is to break the 2 party system and bring in more choice, although easier said than done
The fact that the Supreme Court rejected Marcellus’s case on the notion that he can’t prove he’s innocent, when he also argues that he couldn’t have been found guilty for the same reason shows just how vile of a mindset our courts still have.
thats not how that works. it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt he was guilty off of the evidence. to overturn it you have to disprove the evidence, which he couldnt. low iq murderer
May Marcellus finally have peace. With that said, everyone who had a part in green lighting his execution despite much of the case against him being proven wrong is complicit in murder.
Guy stabbed the woman over 40x. He confessed to his girlfriend, sold her laptop, and was found with her belongings. A knife lacking DNA when he was wearing gloves thankfully wasn't enough to exonerate that monster. Hope he rots in hell. I usually like Phil, but this was probably the most biased one-sided take I've ever seen.
Honestly, the more I learn about Chappell Roan, the more I like her. I loved how she stood up for herself after a photographer got angry with her and cussed at her because she supposedly missed her spot. I also like how she is being critical of the two party system. In a democratic election, we should have more options to choose from than candidates who represent two parties. Most other democratic countries do have more than two options. I also remember when Phil supported a third party candidate for U.S. President. I appreciate when celebs try to shed light on important issues by talking about them (as long as they are not completely ignorant when doing so). Good for her!
When I was growing up in the 80’s, I was taught that who you voted for was between you and God. My parents never told anyone who they were voting for. I don’t even think my parents knew between them who was voting for whom. My parents definitely didn’t vote because some celebrity was endorsing who they wanted. I 100% agree with Chappell and what she’s saying. Don’t vote because some entertainer is voting for that person. Use your brain, read up on all candidates involved, and make the decision for yourself.
Same. Now i grew up in the 2000s so later but i dont Think i know a danish celeb that isnt famous bc of politics endorsing any party. (Im from Denmark)
That's all fair and valid, but at the same time politics impact our lives. If I found out my spouse voted for someone who wanted to take my bodily autonomy I would be pretty heartbroken and it would honestly make me question our compatibility. My ex husband wouldn't tell me who he voted for in 2016 (pretty sure it was Trump). That's not why we're divorced, but his assertion that I was being hysterical or overreacting to Trump didn't help our relationship. I've since remarried and started a family, my wife is trans. If I voted for a party that actively wants to harm her and strip her of basic rights, I shouldn't expect her to just be okay with that. Just like she shouldn't expect me to be okay with her supporting politicians who don't want me to have a say over my own uterus.
@marymac3572 that is true, nonetheless nobody, not even your husband, is obligated to disclose you who they voted for ... It is an entirely personal and important decision that people are allowed their privacy to it
There is plenty to prove his guilt. Phill is literally only sharing one side of the story taken from a political organization aimed at undermining our justice system.
What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Shouldn't he be considered innocent unless someone could prove *without doubt* he was guilty? If there was doubt, shouldn't he have been considered innocent?
Not really. She’s not even politically informed enough to pronounce Kamala’s name correctly. She is just making blanket statements saying that she is transphobic while not identifying anything in specific about why. It’s fine to be politically inarticulate, but frustrating when a celebrity decides to give their half backed ambiguous thoughts on these things, because like it or not, this shit does sway elections.
@@desiree5895 however she chooses to say her own name is the correct pronunciation for her specifically. The same way my name is pronounced differently based on which country I’m in. I’d be pretty annoyed if someone told me I was pronouncing my name wrong.
Im so sick of a two party system. It breeds the dysfunction we see, where the choice is between one choice thats risky shite and one choice thats simply mediocre. It doesn't encourage nuance or true competittion. Whatever side you're on, I bet deep down you're not overjoyed by either choice, and if you are then you haven't looked critically at either.
Agreed. I worked in heath and human services. The waste for many democratic programs is asinine. Republican lack of programs are also awful, but there is absolutely room for improvement on both sides. I feel bad for her feeling so overwhelmed with people. They are exhausting.
We need to implement a better voting system like five star voting. I can't take politicans serious unless they are serious about making our elections more democratic and getting corporate money and influence out of politics(holding our members of government to higher ethical standards). We just have to keep pressuring our politicians and pestering them to do the right thing.
you can vote green or libertarian or american independent... people just ignore them and because of this they're misrepresented and underfunded which perpetuates the problem.
People are also missing Chappel Roan's most valid point - the way the US system is set up make it SO important to think smaller & not just focus on presidential candidates. So much of Americans' lives are affected by down ballet initatives, mid-term, State level, and local elections. Arguably these decisions affect Americans lives more than the President but don't get anywhere near the same attention.
I think drawing a line between voting and endorsing is a smart idea. Saying who you're voting for should be enough rather than aligning yourself with a politician.
As a left leaning centrist myself I often encounter similar "enlightened centrist criticism" but I find it more understandable considering I am not a public figure who's views on different issues are more readily apperent. I totally respect Roan's take, more people should turn a critical eye towards their own party imo.

I fully believe that part of the reason people have had issues with what Chappell Roan said about voting is the lack of education of the voting system in schools and the electoral vote seemingly being more important than the popular vote.
Unfortunately you need to understand that the system is supposed to be innocent before proven guilty, but he was convicted in court and charged; actually innocent or not, so after that is guilty until proven innocent to be cleared of charges and released. Chappell Roan is obviously just saying "The Democrats are not Left enough for me" which I think is an obvious and understandable stance to take in America.
100% understand Chappell saying votes and endorsements aren't the same thing. Voting AGAINST Trump isn't voting FOR Kamala. There's a big difference between taking an action to avoid insanity and signing your name to a campaign. Your name matters.
In the current political climate, the unfortunate truth is that you can't just vote against Trump, you need to vote for Kamala. She stands more to lose in the margins in swing states than he does.
You clearly don’t understand how Americas two party political system works. If you don’t vote for one you implicitly vote for the other. And if your like that sucks - yes it does - but changing it is again another battle that will be far more successfully fought under the guy who is not a dictator.
@@veronicamaine3813 mindset like that keep us stuck in the two party system perpetually. A lot of it is disinformation too. The difference being that misinformation is lies being spread unknowingly, while people who spread lies knowingly are spreading disinformation.
It's pretty simple, she never said both sides are equally bad, she said both sides have problems. Not an equal amount of problems, not of equal severity, not equal anything, she did not use the word "equal". Chappell saying an endorsement and a vote arent the same thing basically completely describes how I feel about it too tbh as someone pretty far to the left. I'm gonna vote for Kamala, but there are key issues for her that I take real issue with, like immigration and Gaza. If I were in Chappell's place rn I'd be saying the same thing lol
The one issue though is politicians in general usually lie. Trumps' case is the one exception. He probably means what he says, while many others just say words. Kamala has to strengthen and actually mean it, and focus on delivering without Question. Otherwise we will be back to this in 2028.
Exactly, remember when Biden during his 2020 campaign was showing support for progressive immigration policies, only for him to completely reverse those promises when he got into office, and he just inherited a lot of trump era policies.

This is just a side rant, but can people, especially people who should know better like lawyers, stop using “You can’t say fire in a crowded theater” line. There’s obviously limits to freedom of speech, but the original way it was used was in a supreme court case to uphold probably one of the most anti-freedom of speech laws ever placed in the U.S., the espionage act(which was used to make anti-war protesters, specifically during WW1, illegal). None of this is to say Haitians are not totally justified in suing Trump and Vance for defamation.
Should we...care what Chappell Roan has to say about politics? She's a singer...I mean, she has her views and thats great but I'm not turning to her for political advice as I'm not also turning to her for financial advice or engineering help. People shouldn't be pressuring celebrities to talk about stuff they have as much knowledge on as you.
The reason why people care what any celebrity has to say on topics is because its pretty well proven that celebrities are able to sway people to be active. Celebrities hold a very solid form of soft power, and how they exercise it can and does impact who is and isn't in power. As a rising star this year, Chappell has aquired a healthy sway. Because a majority of voting age americans don't vote, and shifting those margins can really shape elections.

Chapell's Reaction is compleately normal when every political topic is extremely polarizing. In her shoes, it is being asked if she wants her hand cut off or a foot cut off but unable to reject either offer and when she isn't say which she'd rather loose she is now "both sides"ing. That is how being a moderate feels in the Current US political sphere and the reason why the government is tearing itself apart. Did Chapelle Roan say both sides were equally bad? I’m a registered independent, not because I am a secret republican, but because I don’t believe in the 2 party system and I don’t feel represented by the Democratic Party. I consider myself too progressive to truly agree with the Democratic Party which is comprised of folks who are barely left of the right. I agree 100% with her. Yeah the presidential election is important, but even more important are voting for the house, senate and local government representatives. They’re the ones who implement policies that impact our daily lives.
No, she never said EQUALLY bad. In fact she said fuck trump and I’m voting for Harris implying it’s less bad. But she realizes democrats aren’t perfect. And that’s ok. Even with their faults, they aren’t anywhere near as bad as trump. And the faults she seems to care about (Palestine) the republicans would be even worse. Trump openly said that Israel should “finish the job” and destroy Gaza. If Palestine is your problem with democrats, it’s easy more reason that you should consider them OVER republicans that would be worse.
No but when you just say "both sides have problems" you carry water for Republicans who are significantly worse. She didn't say they are just as bad as each other just she certainly implied that there aren't major differences between the two and reiterated that again and again. People who think that are either ignorant or just dumb because, especially when they say they mainly care about trans rights. One side is against anyone transitioning, calls all trans people pedophiles, and has passed and tried to pass literally hundreds of bill peeling back their rights. The other party champions LGBT causes, pushing for acceptance broadly, and makes real progress like enshrining gay marriage into law. Acting like these aren't major differences doesn't make sense, and it doesn't help that she's either unwilling or unable to actually articulate any actually criticisms she has of democrats. It's like saying a philanthropist and a pedophile both have issues as people and people need to make up their own minds for who is worse, obviously you're doing the pedo a favor by even pretending they're anywhere close to as bad. Honestly she should have just not said anything it's obvious she doesn't know much about politics and is incredibly privileged.
The court said there was no proof of his innocence. The point of a trail is to prove guilt. There was none of that apparently. How can a supreme court forget how our system works?
And there's not a soul alive who thinks opposite to her. Her thoughts aren't special or unique here. But this isn't exactly a normal election where it really doesn't matter too much who wins. It absolutely matters a lot who wins. This will largely determine the future of America. It already has. We have a corrupt supreme court that is going to keep harming the nation as time goes on. So, if anything, CR's thoughts here are... nonsense and childish. Nonsense because people on the Left are intelligent enough to already realize their side isn't perfect. And childish because this is NOT the time to be all like "but, both sides are bad! I don't want to endorse anyone because of that!" No. One side is mediocre but heading in the right direction overall, over time. The other side is a regressionist pile of lies and foreign manipulation hellbent on drastically changing America for the worse. I'm not sure if even half of them want a "united" states of America anymore. She has a platform. It helps. Pick a side and stop being a child. This election matters a lot. We can only hope there won't be a more important election within our lifetimes than this one.
How do the American people hold the justice system accountable for such an infuriating fumble. At the very least, his sentencing should have been reduced to life. Nobody should be executed unless there is 110% certainty that they did it and would do it again

I 100% agree. I want Roan to learn when to pull a Robert Downy Jr. and just walk away from interviews that she feels may compromise her. Furthermore, I want her to go social-media-silent on topics she is not equipped at this stage in her life/fame to handle. Overall, I just want her to be OKAY and not suffer from the fallout that a proper PR team would have advised her to never touch even with a 10ft pole. I can't help but shake this nasty feeling that if Roan continues on this way (with her 'so far' inability to gracefully handle/ignore the inevitable pitfalls associated with such a meteoric rise to fame) as fans we may witness a dark outcome we've seen with other young fame afflicted talents over the past couple of decades that buckled under the pressure. The phrase 'no evidence of his innocence' sounded weird. Is it presumption of innocence for the first trial and then presumption of guilt on appeal?
People don't mention evidence of his guilt because it's not DNA. He was selling items from victims flat day after her murder. People apparently have different definitions for reasonable doubt. Death penalty just shouldn't exist.
basically, which is crazy. You have to prove they were wrong instead of prove that you didn't do it.
Appeals presume the first trial was correct. Technically the person was already found guilty in a court of law. He was innocent until that court ruled. The only way to appeal is to prove that court was wrong and it's a really high bar.
Not saying it's fair or okay, but that's the system.

Most other democratic countries do have more than two options. I also remember when Phil supported a third party candidate for U.S. President. “It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world that they cannot all be punished.
But if innocence itself is brought to the bar and condemned, perhaps to die, then the citizen will say, 'whether I do good or whether I do evil is immaterial, for innocence itself is no protection,' and if such an idea as that were to take hold in the mind of the citizen that would be the end of security whatsoever.” ― John Adams

All because she asked to be respected as a person and some people feel entitled to the celebrities they like. It's truly insane and disheartening. All the ex fans who felt scorned by her boundaries are just looking for something, ANYTHING to harass her over. Unfortunately it's so common these days for people to have the biggest fits over being rejected, and instead they'll look for any reason to make the rejector the problem instead of reflecting on why boundaries hurt their feelings so much. Sorry for this long tangent.
Gosh why does every celebrity have to be pressured to endorse someone. Leave her alone. You wonder why a 3rd of the country doesn't vote...
She chose to say something. Thats what happens when you're famous.
For real im so sick and tired of everyone hounding every single celebrity to “speak out” on things as if its going enact any real change lol. Everyone loves to talk ig…
Her entire career is political. Every time she talks about queer rights, trans rights, and Palestine she is being political. If she doesn't want to speak on politics then she should shut her mouth on all the political issues. As someone who is actually trans, it's only one side that's trying to erase my identity. Her statement is harmful to the people she claims to represent. I don't need some cisgender pop star speak for me especially since she has no problems using MY identity to gain followers but can't speak out against the party that is harming us. There is no such thing as an apolitical activist.
@@amberhott5965no one’s trying to take your queer rights, they just don’t want you cutting your penis off before the age of 18 which is pretty reasonable
God the Justin Bieber story and the Chappell Roan story are making me go insane. Just because Bieber wants to protect Eilish, doesn't mean he experienced something personally by Diddy. I always wanted to protect my sister against people online, doesn't mean I've been abused by the exact same people. It's just I've been through some shit, so I understand. And with Roan, it's WILD that she can go "yeah both sides suck" and instantly people are like "OH YOU'RE BOTH SIDING THIS!?", buddy, do you even hear yourself? Compared to some of the artists out there who pretend to appeal to the queer community, at least Roan is a) a lesbian and b) invites local queens to shows. She's not asking /just/ Ru girls because they're popular, she's bringing on queens who HAVE NEVER BEEN ON DRAG RACE. Get over yourself, forreal.
It’s just crazy that there’s always so much going on … and then we have work/school tomorrow. Like we need a break.
Never heard of this Chapell before but she seems smart and brave
