Definitely, I'm so fascinated by all the characters in my first run of the game, particularly Yuyuko. I really love her theme song so much. An interesting thing is the game's theme is base on Japan's Taisho era in which Japanese culture and Western culture collide (similar to China), and the characters's design is based on Taisho Romance, a cultural styling of the era. Speaking of it, the original PCB's theme is also a mixture of Western and Eastern (Japanese). You can easily notice it on Yuyuko and Yukari's design in this fangame, especially Yuyuko's spell cards, which are focused on Japanese's culture of the said era. Plus, both designs resemble upper class's noble women figure in that time. You can also find many other interesting references from this game if you look at it clearly.
The 1st Fantastic Damnaku Festival was simply beautifull and amazing. But this one managed to be even better, dear god that Yuyuko fight is just perfection. I just love how Yuyuko is basicaly dancing with her Fans in her non-spells.

I thought the starry sky spell in FDF 1 was stunning, but this is just a whole new level of beauty. The music is really good too! And Yuyuko, just, wow. That was one crazy fan dance. I thought Yuyuko's penultimate spellcard was very pretty, using rising soul attack like IaMP as a stem, fans as leaves and stings of petals hanging down. But then the last spell came and it was lit! That was definitely a recreation of Japanese art.

I concur with you. The game is made with CrazyStorm 2.0, a lastest, powerful danmaku design tool and engine which is created and developed by the Makukasai team themselves with StarX as the leader. Since the first FDF game, they are just all highschool students and that's what makes me feel impressed. When I first saw the animated portraits in the pv trailer, I thought that they added live2d directly into the game lol.

Yuyuko feels so extra and it's perfect. I love how her moving usually involves her spinning with her fans. It's just so...Yuyuko. Game is super pretty and worth whatever needs to be spent on it.
Ahahahah, my laptop would probably go up in smokes trying to run this game, all these beautiful graphics. I already had to tone down HSoB's graphical settings to even get it running above 30fps. It makes me appreciate ZUN making his games pretty much accessible and playable to even my potato laptop Update: I bought the game, and surprisingly it runs smoothly, and usually at 60fps, even on my potato laptop! Kudos to the team

This was such a privilege to watch. Everything is gorgeous, the music plays with your expectations and rewards you in the end (when the leitmotifs kick in, like Charming Domination kicking in during Ran's fight, Capital City of Flowers during Lily and Yuyuko's last spell having full on Border of Life as the opening) and your playstyle of not using bombs let us see as much of the pretty patterns as possible. I love how instead of solely basing all of Lily's spell cards around flowers they're also based around deserts, and she's carrying a picnic basket because that's what people do in spring.

I've noticed a couple of things structurally taken from the first FDF: Original first boss who returns as the stage 6 midboss (with a spellcard that limits character visibility to boot) Stage 4 boss is the original games midboss with a theme not previously attributed with that character. Extra stage has two midbosses, and the boss uses unique danmaku ( crosses, lanterns, coffins, ect. for Flan, keys and demonic beasts for Yukari). That's all I've noticed so far, but I'm sure there are some I haven't seen yet. Edit: I almost forgot, Yukari ripped off the concept for Flandre's Russian Roulette spell.

Goshdamn I love this game. As much as I love the original, this one is a step up in terms of pretty much everything. The designs, the art, THE SPELL CARDS! The music is good, although I wish the melody was a little more pronounced, they're not as catchy as ZUN's tracks.

me in easy mode : barely made it out alive (the earliest version of the game has so many flaws) me in normal mode : cleared on first try with 3 remaining lives (i complained too much about the bullet looks exactly the same as background and now it became too easy, forgive me) me on hard mode : 2 continues, no comment.
Yeah I did notice that. FDF 1&2 are my first Touhou games (mainly for easy accessibility, it's on Steam and has built-in English support). I started both games on Easy and while FDF2 took me only a few tries to 1cc, FDF1 was quite a bit harder. Not to mention Normal difficulty; while I can beat 2 on normal with multiple continues, in 1 I always get destroyed by either Koakuma or Sakuya.

They could make the boss HP display better, it's misleading to have the display count the remaining spells and not the remaining lives. Mostly it can't show more than 7, which is even worse for the extra boss. And since we don't have the name of the boss display, I have then no clue about the name of the stage 1 boss. I'm gonna call her Ephemer's sister then.

Well about the unique danmaku design, why they existed in the first place is explained in the FDF lore. So it's not necessarily "structurally taken"

is it just me or the shottype lost 50% of their power? (all of them. i made a complain about how youmu damage is too low, but after seeing this......)
