I do believe you need to teach your fine problem-solving skills to others... What a great school teacher you would be!

Absolute brilliant sinplicity. I wanted to add a rudder to this Intex Seahawk 4 w homemade lantern sail & thought of copying the rudder on my 81 Hobie Cat 16 but those things are really complex. This is perfect & I haveveverything at hand already except spar varnish. Thank, You saved the day. Great to the point video. Greetings from Texas. ling Tor.

Shop at Mardens! You must be from Maine. Me too. I am working on some Storer outriggers at the moment.

That is good information.... thank you! I built a 12-foot-long pirogue in 2017 and seems that it is an ongoing project with something modified or added every year or two. It is flat bottom and draws only about 3 inches of water and does not track well and wind can really move it off course. So, I'm looking at ideas, such as your, trying to come up with a rudder to help tracking. I may design a side rudder, not sure. Again, thanks for this. It gives me something to consider.

Thank you for this. Gives me good ideas for a breakaway rudder for my 14 foot sailboat, and I'd like to use the same mechanism for a breakaway daggerboard.

@@mydreamboatproject I've got an Old Town Discovery 169 that would quite benefit from your rudder design, as well as that primo leeboard setup. Thanks!

Neat design. What type of canoe is this? I built a Burmarsh 14 back in lock down and am converting it to a sailing canoe, the stern is very similar to yours.
