I love that guitar, I purchased a RevStar with p90’s last year thinking I would replace the itch for the sg. But after seeing this and Sweetwater lowering the price on this one that itch returned😆😆😆
The first guitar I bought was a Gibson SG Special cherry 1984. It was in the Pawn Shop and then hurricane Katrina came and I lost it. It was my favorite most played guitar, so much so that it was relic-ed naturally.
Thanks for the review I was actually looking at purchasing this guitar. I own a John Diggins Tony Iommi Jaydee Old Boy SG custom. The Jaydee SG comes with 24 fret instead of 22. I know Tony was an innovator and was one of the first guitarists to start using 24 frets when all the big guitar brands like Gibson were telling him you cant make and play 24 fret guitars. Thats why he started making custom guitars with the luthier John Birch. If you are a fan of Tony the Jaydee guitars are def worth checking out, too. I just realized when you were showing off the nut that they didnt add the zero fret or lacquer finish on the fretboard like with Tony's other SG models but other than that the guitar looks awesome.
That is a really well made guitar and for around $1,000 it's a way better option than spending a few thousand more for a Gibson. I'm so glad Gibson basses aren't as expensive as their guitars.
I'm pleased with it. If it didn't have the case, I would say no. But that beautiful case makes it about right in price in my opinion. I do wish is had the Monkey or a signature on the case, though. It would have been a nice touch. Thanks for watching Nick.
I just bought one today from SW once they released off b/o. My wife wasn’t happy either since I just started playing recently and have 3 red sg’s now lol
It’s a well built guitar. My only complaint about a they cheaped out on the pickups. They should’ve put the Gibson P90’s in it. I’m putting custom P90’s in my Iommi Gibson and taking the Gibson pickups and putting them in my Epiphone.
Man it fits the case so great dam is it nice! This guitar finish makes USA ones look like S### that is crazy! I never seen a guitar look so great then this one in year's great but Mike! definitely worth the cash EPI charges for sure top to bottom love that bridge! Fender gave me a soft case with my telecaster performer i had to buy their hardshell and the raked me on the dam thing! 😂
At over $1200 CAD for an Epiphone, I can't and won't get there. Nice guitar, but about $600 or so too much. It is an Epiphone and not a Gibson. Gibson money for Epiphone? No way. Gibson is hell bent on taking everyone for everythnig they have while suing competitors. So, no thanks, Gibson. Excellent video, but prices are going a little crazy for the 2nd tier stuff. Squier is getting just as stupid. Don't buy and watch the prices fall.
Lol what???? 1200cad is not Gibson price. The equivalent iommi guitar is 3200cad. the cheapest model is at 1750cad, but tbh it probably sounds and plays worse than this epiphone, so I don’t understand what ur getting at. You obviously care more about the name than actually playing.
I have an Epiphone SG Special P-90 Sparkling Burgundy which was under half the price, but felt eager to buy the Monkey, even though it was twice the price. While I like the Sparkling Burgundy, the neck on the Monkey is sturdier (it's thicker), and the Monkey has an adjustable bridge (the Sparkling Burgundy is a Lightening bridge). Moreover, the hard case was another bonus (the Sparkling Burgundy didn't come with one). The main thing, however, is I just love playing the Monkey more; it 'feels' more expensive, so what price for that. I'm not likely to be selling any time soon.
It’s a poly finish, that’s why it looks like plastic. Gibson uses nitro. Looks cool but Epiphone needs to relax with all these $1000+ guitars. Never played an epi that’s worth that much.

Fantastic videography and production!!!!!!! Pro to the MAX
Thanks brother

I was thinking of putting P-90’s in my standard, but after seeing this I’m rethinking. I like what I’m seeing with that Epi.
My honeymoon phase is over with it, and I still love it. Thanks for watching 🙂
If you go P90, you may need a noise gate, but they are inexpensive. P90s do sing nicely. Especially if you are going for the Iommi sound.
Just ordered one. I was looking at the Gibson, but i just dont want to pay over 2G for this one. £729 with the hard case seems a fair deal.
17:14 where did that giant watch appear from haha
I love my watches. Lol.

@@FultonStreetBeats , you’re welcome Mike. Keep the reviews coming because I’m learning a lot about budget guitars.
That's one sick guitar! Sounds legit to me..
They just dropped the price to $799 so I ordered one. I don't see how I could lose getting it $200 off the $999 price.
I’ve been eyeing it and I just bought one because I saw the price.. the misses is gonna kill me

@ACE-hv5sw 😆😁
How does the sticker go fiddlectowards back or towards pickups
Everything about that guitar works.

I have a hard time paying over a grand for a guitar with no hardcase also.
pls more black sabbath
Epiphone need to start shielding their guitars god dammit.
Absolutely no way. At this price you will find a barely used Gibson SG standard with some nice fret binding. Just have to find a good one.
Is this a good gift for a child?
I wish I had 25% of that so I can eat and live. Boo Hoo.
Plastic "chrome"covers on the same pickups used for the basic budget SG put me off this guitar.

Squier is much better value. Especially the classic vibe/40th series.
@@ericbourne3116 he's just saying they are overpriced. Wich they are, they're edging into the prices Gibsons studios were.

Its 729 now
@booshting3520 it wasn't when this video came out. Months ago. Also Epiphones new line up is well above 1k.
@@FultonStreetBeats I know, wild isn't it ? This looks pretty good for the current price though.
