To put the volunteer up on top makes so much sense. I am not a mom, but I immigrated to the US last year, and I could not work for income for the previous 9 months because I hadn't had my green card approved. I put my ongoing volunteer with an NGO in a separate section on the 2nd page. No wonder I haven't received any call back for an interview for any jobs I applied for. I will change my approach and see how this goes. Thank you both very much!

This video is helpful if the career gap is filled with volunteer work, but what about a 1.5year gap to focus on mental health and close out a complicated estate of a parent? In otherwords, a career gap not filled to the brim with volunteer “work”.
