Commonly asked questions:
Q: Can my family send me packages?
A: Yes, it just cannot have any contraband in it. Cough Drops are allowed (Ludens are the best)
Q: Should I bring two bags or one?
A: Pack as light as possible simply because you will have to take all those bags with you once to ship to tech school and you are only allowed 3 bags in total once you depart.
Follow me through my AD AF journey and I will give you tips and trips as a new Airman myself. This has been one heck of a ride so far but I want to make sure everyone is set up for success for this excited phase in life.

@@aniajones4581 yall got this! Remember to move with a sense of urgency, know the correct reporting statement for MTIs “Sergeant Trainee…. Reports as order”, work as a team and remember it’s only 7.5 weeks of your life.

Congratulations!! Spend time getting prepared with the pre-addressed envelopes, with PT, and with learning the Air Force Song and the Airman's Creed. Spend time with your family as much as you can, because you will miss them. My son arrived at BMT on 2 AUG 22 and we can't wait to see him and his flight graduate. Don't be scared. You can do this!!
How can I practice for the asvab or what do I need to practice and prepare
They have study guides you can purchase, I recommend just going to your local library and renting it
Do the hair or face products need to be in the container they came in? Or sealed?
Yes, do not bring anything that didn’t come in it’s original packaging. It will get thrown away
For the running shoes, if you bring your own, do the have to be a certain color?
No ! If you bring your own the color doesn’t matter.

What if you don't have a cellphone?
Like do they give you a phone to use to call home like a office phone.
If your wingman has one, they will let you used theirs.
Packing list? WTF? I took nothing to Marine Corps bootcamp. Anything I would have brought would have been thrown away or stored anyway. You were provided everything you would need for the next 3 months.

The AF does not have bootcamp, they have basic training.

Honestly, PT was hard for me because I hate running but other than that it was pretty easy.
Can I bring my own under wear and bras or do I have to buy them at the shop before basic ? Can I also bring my own sports bra
Take enough for about 3 days, because you will be issued undergarments a couple days into basic, afterwards all your civilian clothes will be locked up for the rest of basic.
Only males get issued undergarments, females on the other hand do not, so bring your own 1 each day of the week or you can buy there when you arrive
Bring your own, I brought like 5-6 neutral colored sports bras and 10-12 pairs of undergarments because we do laundry almost everyday
Hi! Is it mandatory to be vaccinated???
yes, currently it is but you can try to go in with an religious exemption. Talk to your local recruiter about it, they would have more info.

Yes
Can we wear earrings during basic ?
Not during training but when you take your grad pictures and actually Graduate you can

Did you guys get a phone call every week ?
Not always, it’s a COVID thing, so it’s subject to change. We got one a week, apart from one time where it was taken from us as a punishment lol
In all 3 squadrons i went to, yes we got them every week and the time varied by our performance.
The call thing just changed! It’s now just when you get there during WOT 0, then WOT 1, 3 & 5 now!

@Bryana Lanier yes! I was in my DEP meeting and my recruiter has an MTI friend who spoke to us over the phone about that and some BMT advice as well!
