I am very surprised you’re only 24 comments. Excellent review excellent speakers.

I assume it has to do with the speakers not being as well-known as others, but I appreciate the kind words.

Man, don't you hate those unwanted cabinet residences? I hope they clean up after themselves at least.

This prompted me to search for another review of them. In 2020, Herb Reichert did so for Stereophile mag. he concluded that, "the Alyssas delighted me with their ability to project an enormous soundstage and to array lifelike musicians in front of me. This, coupled to their innate transparency and ability to convincingly reproduce pipe organs, large drums, and synthesizers, made the Alyssas exciting to listen to. Unfortunately, when the Alyssas were not thrilling me, they were disappointing me with a lower midrange that lacked focus-but was it the speakers I was hearing or their interactions with the room and my amplifiers? In a larger space, with lower levels of reflected bass energies, the Alyssas would, perhaps, present themselves with a more balanced tone and sharper lower-midrange focus.'
This suggests to me that it is the old, never to be escaped trade off; resolution and transparency versus tonality and musicality. IMO, we can have some of both but if we must have all... we can only have one or the other.

I have owned a pair for 18 months. They are as described in this review. Herb's review is an outlier; the only one of the many written about the Alyssa with any negative comments.

You didn't mention the important bits. The bit's that most leave out like you did....Why???

Excellent review .! Thank you . Would the Hegel h590 be over kill for these speakers ?

While I'm certain they'd pair very well, I'd also think you'd want to aim higher if you can afford an H590.

As an audio file, you could never go overkill😂😂❤ Halo 390 or 590 would go wonderful with them…

Great video. I find myself currently unconcerned with what my speakers actually look like. It's just furniture. Am I alone here?
At the moment I'm trying to finance another turntable. Oh, I finally had a belt slip on my Pro-ject 'table, and it was awful! Freaked me out! Back to direct drive we go! Getting all lathered up about upgrading another Technics table with my first MC setup. Can't wait!
Thanks for suggesting another female vocalist, I find myself drawn more and more to vocal performances, and I appreciate the heads-up. My family is actually learning to appreciate Pavarotti (!). And Nat King Cole. I must be getting old...

Some people care more about how their system looks than others, I'd say. But if it sounds fantastic, I think I'd be more interested in that.

I love the dark Vader look and you are not getting old. You’re just getting better at discerning, good music😂😂

I have an opportunity to grab a used pair for cheap but I can only get 12” off the wall. Would you say the bass would be too much? I read some reviews where they said the Alta needed to be 40” off the wall

    • @thevinylattack
      @thevinylattack  7 месяцев назад +2

While 12" is a bit close, 40" is nonsense. If you can get a pair of these cheap, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute.

@@thevinylattack I checked again, I can actually do 16”. The 40” came from Stereophile review. picking them up tomorrow. Fantastic deal with the stands also. Thanks.

Just be aware that even US$100,000.00 speakers still use spade terminals to connect the drivers and the wire is generally 12AWG and nothing special at all. Cheers.@@thevinylattack

Hey Chris! Wanted to throw this at you. Hate to do it on comments but I’m definitely not complaining. I ordered one of your turntable mats and I might have done something wrong. Just wanted to check in with you. Do you happen to have an email I could, reach out to find out about my order. Sorry for the trouble. I am blind, so I overlook a lot of stuff sometimes. Thanks for your time and thanks for the videos!

I own a a pair of klipsch heresy 3 in all honesty you can’t much uglier. If I wasn’t content with the way my system sounded I think these would be on the audition list.
On a side note and that of saving i quite agree, spend once on something you really want. I saved for 4 years to get the turntable I wanted, 3 weeks ago I got it. A technics 1210gr with a nag 150mp and a chord huie phono stage. Connected to a sugden a21. Love it and completely content

They will get prettier the more you listen to them! Owned the Alta Audio Alecs and they were a great sounding speaker. Moving back to Planar speakers because I love "no box" sound as well as other sound attributes. Mike Levy of Alta Audio is a great guy too.
