Then you have obviously missed the entire point of the satire - it is independent of any political party and in a deeper sense any country in this world. Its clothing is British but it is profoundly relevant to the entire political world. Also, take a look at the Labour shambles that was the 1970’s and the state of economy at the end of the Blairite years. Government failings are also universal and not limited to one party or the other. Grow up.

I can't believe this show is not more popular. One of the best shows and basically a documentary on how governments works.
Edit: i can quite see that it would have been popular when it came out, i am talking about now and I am more talking about the US and more precisely I am talking about the general public as opposed to older generation. I discovered this show a few years ago and have watched both series, yes minister and yes prime minister, and I love it. Ever since I started watching, anytime I told anyone about this, no one knew what I was talking about, granted most people I asked are around my age, late 20s early 30s.

One thing I love about this is it would’ve been so easy to write Hacker as being a complete idiot that gets in the way. Instead, Hacker is shown to be every bit as sharp, intelligent, and as quick as everyone else, and that he’s more than capable of going toe-to-toe with the civil service on every matter.
It’s not that he’s not as good as Sir Humphrey at this game, it’s just that Humphrey’s been playing it a lot longer.
