      Yes, the pilot episode was actually recorded in 1979 just before the UK general election. The election sadly made the pilot episode not being aired, and instead the BBC gave permission to record six further episodes to provide a full series. That was filmed in the autumn of 1979, and the first series aired in Jan 1980.

    • @simonpophale1250
      @simonpophale1250 11 месяцев назад +5

      A lot of these ideas for the episodes came from actual situations that occurred in government. The writers had 2 informants from within Whitehall who provided real situations. This is how the writers achieved the accurate language and portrayal of the Civil Service at the time. It hasn't changed much either.

The same goes for Only fools and horses and Blackadder and many other British Series. The beggining was in early 70s with comedy In the Bus. Some 15 Years ago Serbian version o Blackadder was made in 2 Series.

    Well, one must tread with great caution when it comes to the concept of open government, dear viewers. While transparency and accountability are certainly important virtues, we must not forget that there are certain matters that are best left undisclosed for the greater good of the state. The dangers of divulging sensitive information cannot be understated, as it can lead to disastrous consequences for national security and public interest. Moreover, the public's demand for transparency can often be misguided, as they may not have the necessary expertise or understanding to fully comprehend the complexities of government decision-making. So, while open government may seem like a noble goal, we must be wary of the potential pitfalls that come with it.
