  • In this week's Grand Adventure we're camping and kayaking at East Park Reservoir in the northwestern Sacramento Valley of northern California. It's a beautiful place, surprisingly remote, and eminently affordable. There's not much sightseeing available in the area, so East Park Reservoir is a place where you go to relax and enjoy nature's beauty.

      @GrandAdventure  Год назад

      We can imagine, Kurt. We knew we'd have one hot day when we got there. Day one was 95, which is why the generator was connected. After that one day, however, the rest of the week was below normal.
      Yep, we found ticks in the tall grass. Heard it's snakey, too, but didn't see any rattlesnakes ourselves.

      We were there in late June, but for a full week, Sunday to Sunday. It was quiet as a church mouse midweek, but even on the weekend it never got crazy busy. In fact, many of the kayaking scenes in the video were shot on a Saturday.

    Would be nice to know in your boondocking or dry camping videos if generators are allowed times they are allowed, also being there was no water or sewer hookups where can you get water and dump. We don’t like traveling with full water tanks but can stop and fill up. We stayed at Island Park in the BigHorn Mountains and water as well as dump was available about 10 miles away, but very mountainous so carting full load of water coming in and full black and gray leaving was interesting with the weight in the mountain roads.
    Thank you for your videos I enjoy them

  • @gorrdd
    @gorrdd Год назад +2

    Thanks... this was a very relaxing video, Marc. Loved the area.
    Did you end up circumnavigating the whole shoreline around the reservoir. It looked like it might take about thirty minutes to drive around the reservoir, using the network if access roads.
    I liked the lighting with the moody skys overhead.
    Great to hear that the lake filled up to capacity this year with the mountain snow melt.
    Gord

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Год назад +1

      Gord, many of the roads visible on satellite or maps are blocked off and no longer used. We found it impossible to circumnavigate the lake by road. North of where we camped, Campground Road which runs up the east side now dead ends. You can round the south end of the lake through Lodoga and drive up to Stonyford, through which you access the camping on the west side of the lake, but there's no way to go north or south of the camping areas along the lakeshore.

    • @gorrdd
      @gorrdd Год назад +1

      @@GrandAdventure Marc,
      It sounds like people might have been abusing the full road by going too fast, so they blocked it off to discourage that.
      This happens when things dry up and people don't come to camp there. Others find the spot and start using it for their own purposes.
      Just guessing at why they world do that. It doesn't make sense. Having access all the way around would have been great.
      Actually, I was referring to kayaking around the whole shoreline circumference.
      Gord

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Год назад +1
