Once upon a time, families could live comfortably on 1 source of income. It's disgusting what has happened to the middle-class. There's no reason SHELTER, food, and clothing should EVER be unattainable.

This was done intentionally because long-term, it is more beneficial to own. The corporate owners are making a killing with the long term rental market.

Then I don't understand why people from other countries want to keep coming to the US. Makes no since. Why don't they fix thier own countries and stay out of ours. Then just maybe...just maybe we can fix our country. I wish I had lived back in the 50's. Back when the husband went to work and took care of his family and could afford it and the wives stayed home. Cleaned thier homes, cooked, and raised thier own children. Some how I was able to do all that and work. Nowdays, both parents work and still can't afford a home for thier families. It's a sad.

you forgot the part where their economies suck and have sucked for a while. Japan 42K average income versus 76K for the US. Italy is 38K. Yes, Italy in particular has more social benefits, but those are huge differences.

Pricing issues - Greedy sellers . Example Lagrange GA . You can purchase a new construction 1300 sqft 2/3 bed 2 bath for $174-$199k . No bidding wars no waiting list ready to purchase move in . Then we 6O-100 yrs old needing full rehab right next door for $200k + . We have sellers who are out of touch on the market right now . If new construction is not moving , why would your older home needing massive repairs move at the same rate . Very alarming .

Unfortunately, that is how it is looking in the Atlanta metro area. I am in the area and I talk about the unaffordability all the time. The average person in the Atlanta metro area does not make enough income wise to afford these high priced homes. Something has to be done in regard to regulating the price of homes in the area. Instead of suing for commission creating false hopes of house price dropping, actually cap the market for a certain number of years to make sure people can actually afford homes. Create a better plan for Americans that want to own to be able to obtain homeownership, that is all I'm saying.

People can't afford to rent either. It's no different than price gouging. These houses are not even worth it. I've seen single wide trailers for rent , $1700.00 a mouth!!! 😡 That is ridiculous!! People are working and can't afford the live anymore. That's why there's so many ppl homeless nowadays. My friend and his wife had to move out of thier house that they were renting because thier landlord went up on thier rent $300.00 a month. Then less than 3 three months later....the landlord went up another $300.00 more dollars a month. Plus, he has cancer. He had been living there for 20 years. Now him and his wife are homeless. It's wrong....!! They have blue books for cars. Why not have blue books for housing? The laws neeď to change.

Just stop! Renting is NOT more affordable! Watch out, renting from these large corporations only gives THEM the power to control. You have to make 3X the amount rent, deposit, 1st & last, many pet restrictions & extra rent per pet, over priced application fee for anyone 18 & over living on the property, waiting for repairs from leasing agent if you can get ahold of them & don’t forget having to deal with ignorant HOA’s!

They have to get the newest Iphone, Air Jordan, Nails done every 1- weeks, Luis Vuitton purse, not to mention the false lashes that they have to maintain at $90-110 a month. I am not saying don't take care of yourself and look great. But don't come crying when you cannot afford a house.
