- Amanda Gorman, the U.S.'s inaugural youth poet laureate, is offering Americans some words of inspiration to help get through this stressful time. In a performance for "CBS This Morning," Gorman recites one of her poems at the Los Angeles Central Public Library.
Anyone here after seeing her on SGN? I got chills, had to hear more. #sgn #amandagorman #johnkrasinski
Same!
Amanda Gorman, Your poetry is beautiful just like you !
I remember Amanda Gorman coming to my school. She was really nice and cool. I also remember her commenting on my poetic description of my jacket. She said it was pretty good.
Really?
Thank you Amanda Gorman for this inspirational testament to the beauty and strength we possess and are showing as humanity moves through these challenging times. Beautiful!
Thank you, Amanda. I shared this with my class. You're an amazing poet.
Thanks for being an inspiration to all Americans and citizens of the world, Amanda!
do not ignore the pain. give it purpose, use it
Great poet in a great setting with great, hopeful words!
Thanks for standing up and singing, Amanda!
This beautiful young lady..... just WOW!!!!!!!!! Such powerful, inspirational words. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Amanda is a wonderful spokesperson for poetry! Great writer. 😊
Yesssss Thank you Mama!! A gem! The future
Anyone here after the Inauguration?
Amanda:
You had no djembes behind you
No djun djuns keeping time, with your rhythm and rhyme
No shakeres shaking behind those words of yours
No dancers interpreting your metaphors
And yet
What you did have
What you do have is something all your own
Your own kind of awesome
Amanda
What you do have is
A beautiful stage presence
A captivating glow
An uplifting vocal tone
The audience…you truly owned
As you climbed that hill
You walked with elegance
And spoke with eloquence
Words of hope told to a nation
And to a newly crowned administration
Amanda
What you do have is
A voice that soothes
A voice that moves the spirit
Amanda
You have the most encouraging words
A tone that ascends like a graceful bird
Amanda! what you have is
Your own kind of awesome
This is beautiful. Love the words and I love the Library, which is another inspiration as it was nearly lost in an arson fire in 1986. Thank you for the huge dose of hope.
I am deeply moved by her words. Bravo, Amanda, bravo. I look forward to reading more of your poetry.
If you're not aware, April is National Poetry Month.
Pardon my ignorance- Ididn't even know that we had a youth poet laureate--or that she is from L.A. Brava!!
Thank you young lady. ❤❤
My friend that lives Milan italy, while going out for groceries, saw a laminated poem someone wrote tied to a tree. It was something beautiful to see people sharing words of hope and inspiration in this uncertain times.
Piera Alba Merlo
this above is what was written, anyone knows italian, is it maybe a song? or could it be original?
Extraordinary! You are🌹💯
Solidarity together placed in the words of Hope delivered with strength and beauty. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Amanda, beautiful
Absolutely Beautiful!
Clarity and solidarity...Amen!
Lovely words from a powerful young woman! Thank you for sharing with us all :-)
Wow. Beautifully written and presented. That Amanda is an amazing young lady. The video production is also quite impressive. And yes, mankind has been quite resilient. We will survive and continue onward. Great job Amanda!
The way she's able to use her eyes and hands in performing her poetry!♥️🤭
Beautiful, powerful, inspiring words Amanda. I look forward to following your career as it continues to blossom.
Words very well spoken! Priceless!
I love the poem and her delivery, but I think the music and staging overshadowed the words. I wish they'd just let her stand and deliver her words. They didn't need the extra drama.
I agree I felt like the poem was good but the music was way too dramatic.
Powerful young poet I really like her style
Beautiful! Full of hope which we desperately need.
Lovely ❤️👏🏽
pure beauty, from the inside to the outside!
💜💜💜Thank You Amanda Gorman💜💜💜
Love her!
So beautifully written and presented. Collective hope and optimism, and best of science will see us through. Here is another take on hope in this covid era. @
That was beautiful. Thank you!
Awesome
very impressed with the articulation skills this young woman has ;)
🤨
@@DarnellHendeason-dk3uw Think you have a Mac or iPhone..
FYI, all Android, Windows users only see an empty square box..
Why are you impressed with her articulation? Is there a reason to expect otherwise?
@@s.beekeeper3268 yeah, I do expect different.. they refer to her as a girl.. she looks like she's 15 or 16..
Are you trying to say she's not impressive at that age?
Amanda Gorman was born in 1998 making her older than my girl high school students that articulate just as well. She is an extremely gifted poet but not unique in her elocution abilities.
Just tell people everything's gonna be okay when it's not
You are awesome you know
Awesome
Thank you for your beautiful words.
she is quite remarkable
This was wonderful!!!
Shockingly bad decision by someone to punctuate this poem (badly) with music (too loud, poorly mixed) Let the poet speak.
omg this is so cool
Can we start 2020 all over again? please...
Wow
can this be found without the chat before and after? I'd like to share with students but only the poetry part
Good job
wow! i love this so much! the poem, her hair etc esp the part where she said " read children's books" because i'm a children's book author...while we are on lockdown, trying to homeschool and keep the kids in our lives busy, please check out my book. It's free on Amazon kindle unlimited it's titled "The Mosquito Bite That Changed Olu's Life" by Uchechi Mba-Uzoukwu. it's an African inspired Children's Picture Book that encourages kids to give their gadgets/Technology a break sometimes and bond with family, play outside etc. too much screen time leads to high cortisol levels (stress hormone) which can lead to childhood obesity, Anxiety, depression and other health problems in not just kids but also adults. thanks for the support.
Hope is alive.
Lovely. Unfortunately I think the editing was too distracting and the video was over-produced. I wish I could have just heard her. No music. No camera angles. I know the larger audience needs visuals, but I think it takes away from the message.
Inspiring, young lady! Wow! What a talent! Anyone know where the gorgeous interior shots were filmed?
during the introduction, Tony mentions Los Angeles Library
Maya Angelo has been reincarnated!! she is lovely!
i dont see it as a poem it is just words of hope i guess
Why 59 dislikes? So unnecessary!
Anyone here from FMS?
TheCreaneyKid 28 yup
She should join the hip hop group.
had to watch this for class. god i hate poetry
True
👏🏼
Everyone else must social distance and self quarantine, but she gets into the CLOSED Library.
"Life Spectrum"
Life rander us to become speechless. We often see the world through a galactic lense black hole. Like Pensées, we rage in obtaining a vast fortresse without fear. We hopelessly hope without our foretell of fortune. We surrender ourselves to a lesser fintech instead of hovering to an outstanding forte like fortens.

I am disappointed in Myself, that I was Not Aware of her Earlier.
This didn't click with me at all. 😓
Hey friend I understand because I'm a philosopher and every philosophy I use may not be for everybody but just happy that we have arrived as literature stars and we welcome your opinion as we others opinion as well so thanks for your welcoming feed back.
Nothing but a bunch of pretentious lines to soothe a public who are quickly turning into a mass of neurotics.
Ahhh Yes.
Your second amendment rites are more useful than poetry in these times of tyranny 😱
The poem seemed a lil whitewashed.
Thank you. Amanda Gorman -- you are a gift from God.
Wow
