Especially, if you got the chance to see them live, with the light show, the giant pigs, the airplane crash, and everything! You're so right! Kisses from FRANCE..... 😂👍✌️🎸🇫🇷
This is why I like Scribe. One listen to a song that is oh so complicated, and she pretty much gets it entirely. She knows nothing about Sid, but it didn’t matter. She got the symbolism. While also catching what the band was doing. I must say. Dang.
She isnt ready for that level of commitment. Man wait untill she discovers Dark Side of The Moon. And if she does she needs do tue whole album. The only way to experience Dark Side
Tell you something I hope makes you smile, but at my time in life this is music I won't listen to alone, but watching you enjoy it for the first time is really wonderful.
The wind at the end suggests the song blowing away on the wind, it never actually ends. It is also a transition to "Shine on You crazy Diamond, part 6-9". For Dave Gilmour, the song is about Syd Barrett. He is the guitar on the AM radio that fades out as Dave's guitar takes over. If you don't know, Dave Gilmour replaced Syd as lead guitar for the band in 1968. The whole album is a tribute to Syd.
Thanks for playing this. There are two Pink Floyd songs that have very deep, personal meaning to me...Comfortable Numb is how I describe what its like to have BiPolar Depression. Wish You Were Here...for my beloved brother I lost in March to Cancer...I miss him so much. Start the 😭
Even the music is a metaphor. The beginning like hearing a song from far away or through a tin can is just an echo that is behind the present and that's when the clear music starts, Our memories are in the background building up the present. Every time I hear this song I am transported back in time to a jeep on Okinawa getting drunk with a buddy cuz my grandma had just passed away and I was unable to be there and this song came on and it was the first time I had ever heard it so it nailed that moment in my psyche forever.
It’s not. Roger Waters has said it’s about being absent from the person you want to be. Rather be in the action, than the safe but boring cage. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is about Barrett (who joined the band two years after it was formed. First frontman was Bob Klose).
FLOYD IS LEGENDARY. Not one song is my favorite, THEY ALL ARE. Still to this day, selling tshirts. They were ahead of their time for concerts. Something I have never forgotten. SO DAMM GOOD LIVE
The beginning of the song was being played over a car radio in the studio. The whole point was that he was playing along to the radio, which was him in the first place.
Ok, I’ll be the one to say it. All of your song requests will come from their 4 major albums. These albums are concept albums that are basically all 1 long song broken into pieces. In other words the songs all bleed into one another to tell a story. Think of all of the “songs” as chapters in a book. The intention was that you are supposed to listen to the whole album from beginning to end.
Frank Perry you are absolutely correct and when listening to the disc one must NEVER, EVER (I cannot emphasize this point enough) EVER experience said disc on “Shuffle....” I’ve actually heard it’s against the law in some states, as well it should.
There's a problem with Pink Floyd reactions. From "Dark Side of the Moon" until "The Final Cut" you need to listen to whole albums or at the least album sides. Each song flows into the next and has greater meaning in the overall context of the album. This song starts from "Have a Cigar" and flows naturally into "Shine on You Crazy Diamond Parts VI - IX" It's not that it CAN'T be done as single song reactions. It's just better to do album sides. Floyd musically is freakin' GENIUS. They set moods and make you feel feelings. I wish you good fortune in the musics to come. Peace
To be clear. This song and entire Wish You Were Here album is dedicated to original band member and friend Syd Barrett. When listening to Pink Floyd it's best to go album to album. The big four of course-Wish You Were Here, Animals, Dark Side Of The Moon, and of course the Wall are the essentials. And these albums are best done in sequence and in entirety. Especially Dark Side and The Wall where each song leads into the next.
As with all art, any meaning you get is valid. That is what makes Pink Floyd's music special. It evokes emotion and that emotion will be different for each person. As to the meaning, it is mainly a remembrance of Syd. Imagine dialing an old AM radio and going from station to station. You stop on a song. That song is an old friend's (Syd). You pickup your own guitar (maybe toke, maybe just cough) and you drop in on the second verse. The lyrics are universal to a lot of people's lives. “Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?” always rings with me to stay humble. Being at the top isn't always best if you have to give up your freedoms to be there. Great reaction! Send more!
This song was written about their founding vocalist and songwriter Syd Barrett, who battled with schizophrenia and drug addiction as well as other songs like Shine on You Crazy Diamond
I'm a floyd fan but Gilmore isnt even a top 20 guitarists of all time. The difference is Gilmore needs a reason.. a song. Many other just played and out shined him
Ok.... So.... Your thoughts on songs like this go 'much more' deeper than I anticipated.... Please continue to involve us on "YOUR" journey.... I wish you were here....
“A lead role in a cage” yep, that about describes 99% of us. Keep going after your dreams Miss S. Otherwise you end up caged. 👍 and now i will thumbs up my own comment cuz that was good one! 😂
Revisiting your old videos tonight after watching you react to SOAD and Tool... And as a lifelong Pink Floyd fan, and this being my favorite song: here I am again, running over the same old ground..... There are many comments explaining how this was for Syd Barret, a former member of the band, but on another level, everyone knows someone they wish was here and isn't, and we can all feel this song deeply. You may never get the chance to see the band perform the song in concert, but if you do, make sure you can be there. The entire stadium will stand and sing along, thoughts of that person they wish was there with them at that moment going through their hearts and minds, and you will never feel quite as connected as you will in that moment, connected in the loss that everyone has experienced in their hearts, knowing you just aren't alone. And on another note, something else that has already been said: the album this comes from is a concept album. The wind at the end is how it leads into the next part of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond." Some night when you're alone, put the entire album on play, lay back in bed, and let it carry you away with the winds...
Echoes. Dogs. Shine on you crazy diamond. The entire Dark Side of the Moon album. Comfortably Numb live. Learning to Fly. Welcome to the Machine. Just to name a very few.
Great pick - one of the best songs of all time - always brings a tear when I listen, and seeing you enjoy this for the first time was very special, too. As the other main PF albums, you really need to listen to continuously from start to finish to totally appreciate. You're on the right path!
Welcome to world & genius of Pink Floyd. Their albums "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "The Wall" & "Animals" are all concept albums. Each song feeds into the next so the albums are meant to be listened to as a whole. There are a few must listen to's, "Time" Dark Side of the Moon, "The Great Gig in the Sky" Dark Side of the Moon, "Comfortably Numb" [Live at Pulse HD], "High Hopes" [Live at Pulse HD], "Hey You" The Wall, "Pigs (three different ones) Animals, "Welcome to the Machine" Wish You Were Here. Just to let you know Time feeds into Breathe Reprise which then feeds into The Great Gig in the Sky. You really need to listen to these in order. Word of warning, The Great Gig in the Sky will probably catch you off guard, but if you listen to the lyrics of Time & Breathe Reprise then you may understand the meaning behind The Great Gig in the Sky. One other thing, so you do not piss off die hard Pink Floyd fans, you do NOT EVER interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo. We are rather fanatical about this, and have been known to blast reactors in the comments for doing so. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to give you a bit of information about my favorite band. Hope to hear more Pink Floyd from you in the future.
pink floyd is an album band. if you want the whole experience you must listen 'dark side of the moon', 'wish you were', 'animals', 'the wall' in one take. these albums are masterpieces. dark side is on fourth of the best selling records of all times. and the wall is the best selling double album ever. and you should check 'pink floyd live in pompeii - echoes'.
It's a wind's sound, at the end, my beauty! Good reaction as always! You're, still, so charming, and beautiful, baby! But, you, seem to be tired too.... Hope, everything is all right in your life! Kisses from France, darling! 😂👍✌️🎸🇫🇷
This is about Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's founding songwriter and Guitarist who went crazy from LSD abuse. This song is part of a larger concept and album. The wind at the end makes sense when you let it play and it leads into the next song.
The song is mostly about Sid Berret, a founding member of Pink Floyd who eventually went insane after a bad drug trip. Sid brought guitarist David Gilmore into the band and the song was written with Barret in mind.
Also yes it's true their big albums are concept albums and the songs go together perfectly in the right order, but imo you can still listen to some of the songs, like this one, by itself, then when you are ready and feel like it you put on a whole album like "Dark Side of the Moon" and the whole thing as a long piece blows you away. But this is a reaction channel and it probably wouldn't make sense for you to sit there for like 40 min for a whole album. But if you decide to, let us know and we'll guide you. 🤘❤✌
"It's the congruence of all their instruments..... But they're all on their separate trip".... WoW.... I will no longer question.... You are one of the only reactors who seems to be on a real journey.... Like..I'm fucking 49 years old and you say shit that makes me question and wondrous..... Fuck...what a trip......
Listening to individual Pink Floyd songs is like reading individual chapters of a book. If you don't do it in order, and ideally at the same time, you just wont get the story. So, My recommendation is to listen to whole albums, and probably in this order: The Dark Side of the Moon Wish you were here Animals The Wall This list presupposes you actually enjoy their music. I also appreciate that you probably dont want to sit thru whole albums, but each of those albums is crafted to tell a story from beginning to end, and if yer in it for the music, you owe it to yourself to have it delivered as the artist intended (and most fans recommend)
Scribe, Pink Floyd isn’t just music. It’s an experience that no other band can really take you on. Comfortably Numb(Pulse Version), Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Time, Great Gig in the Sky, and Dogs. Honestly the true appreciation for this band is to listen to the albums from start to finish. Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall are the big 4 albums that everyone should listen to at least once in their life time.
"One of These Days", "Money", "Us and Them", "Welcome to the Machine", "Pigs (Three Different Ones)", "The Happiest Days of Our Lives"/"Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2", "Run Like Hell" ...
love your assessment and your perception on the lyrics. it's a good reminder that lyrics/music mean what they do to the observer/listener. the lyrics are about an estranged founding band member, syd barrett, who suffered from some severe psychological issues. and that they wish he was still 'here' literally/psychologically
Time is a masterpiece. Another brick in the wall pt 2 is smooth as fuck . Comfortably numb live is a fan favorite. Hey you is another great tune you'd appreciate. Love ya! Keep grindin
New subscriber here. Your reactions are both entertaining and insightful. You are clearly a very intelligent young lady. I like your assessment, that this is the kind of song that plays at the end of a movie, when the good guy wins. That's interesting, and I never thought of it that way. Yes, the good guy sometimes wins at the end, but not without possibly having lost something or someone very precious along the way. That is the music of Pink Floyd. They will stir you to the depths of your soul.
a much forgotten side of Pink Floyd is the pre Dark Side of the Moon era. Try 'one of these days on the album called Meddle. That was the first hard core Floyd sound. Other songs from that album like San Tropez are a quite different sound.
The story of the song The song is dedicated to Syd Barret, a founding member of Pink Floyd, and was based on a poem that Roger Waters wrote about Syd Barrett's fall from reality. It was said that Syd's friends would lace his coffee with LSD, which eventually lead to his mental breakdown.
Love how you got into them. Brit in the UK was at the concert in Earls Court. Which I'm about to suggest. Strongly suggest you look at Pulse Live and in particular Comfortably Numb and react to that. The Wall, Animals, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here along with The Division Bell are their best albums but many others are good. Is also suggest Echoes Live At Pompeii which is .. different but everyone likes and reacts to that one. Know a lot about them and their music.
'Astronomy Domine' is an all-time classic early Pink Floyd track that I don't think anyone's mentioned below yet...plus the usual suspects of course, like 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' or 'Comfortably Numb', not to mention later gems like 'Learning to Fly' or 'High Hopes'...oh, and the whole of the 'Dark Side of the Moon' album in its entirety, yes?
I wish you could experience all these great albums like we did-as they came out or as we discovered them- from song one all the way through- they are like books with chapters-we put them on the turn table and let them spin------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
All will say...You don’t listen to Pink Floyd, You Experience Pink Floyd.

This is my favorite song of all time. Not just by Floyd, all songs.
You can probably imagine this is played at quite a lot funerals
Tell you something I hope makes you smile, but at my time in life this is music I won't listen to alone, but watching you enjoy it for the first time is really wonderful.
Your instincts are as on point as your insights. Your musical breakdown is clever and informed.
Pink Floyd just hit your soul😁

It's really something to hear 20-30,000 people singing this as Pink Floyd plays it live.
love the intro were we hear the effect of someone tuning thru a radio getting a few different channels til they get to the start of the song.

So many great Pink Floyd songs but I would recommend "The great gig in the sky". There is nothing like it...not by Floyd or anybody
He is broad with the station on the radio, hits on someone playing guitar, plays along and thinks about life.
When asked about the song's meaning Waters said the lyrics were questioning his own life, morals and motives.
Beautifully expressive with reasonable insight...
Listening to individual Pink Floyd songs is like reading individual chapters of a book. If you don't do it in order, and ideally at the same time, you just wont get the story.
So, My recommendation is to listen to whole albums, and probably in this order:
The Dark Side of the Moon
Wish you were here
Animals
The Wall
This list presupposes you actually enjoy their music.
I also appreciate that you probably dont want to sit thru whole albums, but each of those albums is crafted to tell a story from beginning to end, and if yer in it for the music, you owe it to yourself to have it delivered as the artist intended (and most fans recommend)

Well done nice to see younger gen appree great music
The story of the song
The song is dedicated to Syd Barret, a founding member of Pink Floyd, and was based on a poem that Roger Waters wrote about Syd Barrett's fall from reality. It was said that Syd's friends would lace his coffee with LSD, which eventually lead to his mental breakdown.
Attila Ambrus not true

If you are digging pink floyd, then you should react to Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Best pink floyd song ever!
I am ready to Rock N Roll!!!
Listen to Us And Them by Pink Floyd.
You should react to the video Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb at Pulse (concert) . It has the best guitar solo ever.
I arrived 2 years too late 🙄😂

Smart, sexy, intelligent and hilarious ❤️
I wish you could experience all these great albums like we did-as they came out or as we discovered them- from song one all the way through- they are like books with chapters-we put them on the turn table and let them spin------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
