I just made this thing specting results on a low buget without buying apropiate 24v dc power supply.
Results? Output of 20v and only 10w of power. I needed to run full 24v 250w motor, but with only 10w delivered to the motor, i can even stop it with my bare hand.
Now its time to buy that specific power supply xD

Those 12 volt motors should have spun up to several thousand rpms and might have even failed. They didn't fail, because you loaded down the power supply too much. You should have been measuring output voltage and current. This idea of using the microwave oven transformer backwards is interesting, but, with that small diameter "primary" wire, I'd be surprised if you can get 15 amps out of the 24 volt side without major drop in voltage. In the examples you showed, I will bet that those motors didn't have enough power to do much if any work. I am sorry to have to make these comments, but I see from some of the other comments that they are not familiar with this type of power supply. If I am wrong, please feel free to set me straight.

When you connect one lead from the mains supply to the chassis of the transformer like you did, the transformer AND the chassis you mounted it on and you're leaning on with your hand are live!

Is it possible to rewind several transformers like this one and make it a very powerful starting power supply for a motorcycle shop to start engines?

How many amps would it put out? What about rewiring the secondary?

Where do you get those microwave transformers? I have never found any scrap yard that has them in Delhi till now :((( and how much they cost?
Also you should better modify this transformer by cutting the secondary and winding thick gauge wire for 1v/1turn which will give you more amps
This wire on secondary is not recommended to be used as primary and the primary can't handle much amps.
    Thank you

This in NOT a Microwave Transformer.
Microwave Transformer output is 10.000 v ac, not 24 volt
