    Yurikamome reminds me of our own regular Light Rail transit lines in Manila. the entire line is as short as what we have here, but there, it is driverless and automatic, unlike what we have at home. Also, I realized that it is a convenient way of going around Tokyo, making me realize that it is one big city with so many stops to go to and enjoy. Arigato for this video!

    I love Odaiba and take this line often when I'm in Japan, but I realized a couple of years ago when I was there that it's not actually a train - it's a self-guided, articulated bus! It doesn't actually run on tracks - it runs on a flat platform using rubber tires. The English language description of the line, at least, never describes it as a "train" - it just calls it "transit". It's a bus!

  • @thany3
    @thany3 3 года назад +1

    I'm not convinced the Yurikamome is fully autonomous though. Last time I got on it, I got the impression that it is driverless as in controlled centrally/remotely. It might be semi-autonomous, since these trains are just doing the same thing over and over, and being on a decidated track (or road, I guess) there are no other trains not controlled by the same system, that need to be kept an eye on.
    But especially leaving a station, I think, is most likely controlled by a human. And I would hope that the autonomous controls (if any) are also being monitored by a human.
    Having said that, I really enjoyed the ride. It's a smooth ride, and offers nice views of Tokyo bay and surroundings. I also like the stations - they look clean and well-maintained, and they are very safe.
