The Banner Saga 3 is being developed by Stoic, a studio founded by former BioWare employees. Following the release of 2016's The Banner Saga 2, Stoic expressed interest in creating a third instalment, noting that the fictional universe they created had plenty more storytelling opportunities. Speaking at the 2016 NASSCOM Game Developer Conference, Stoic co-founder John Watson, re-iterated their intention to complete The Banner Saga trilogy of games. He estimated the budget required would be $2M, and said that they had considered external funding.
In January 2017, The Banner Saga 3 was announced with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The goal of $200,000 was achieved in less than a week, and the campaign concluded in March with $416,986 raised towards the game's development. While the majority of the funding would still come from Stoic themselves, Watson said that the Kickstarter campaign would also create a community of enthusiastic testers.
The game will be published by Versus Evil and will released on Windows PC, macOS, Nintendo Switch, xBox One and Playstation 4.
The Banner Saga 3 draws heavily from Norse culture and mythology with a touch of Viking elements (no horned helmets). In this last game of the trilogy, players will find themselves exploring The Darkness. The landscape is stunning, albeit bleak. The art is hand drawn in 2D and animated using old-fashioned techniques. The reasoning was to make the game look and feel similar to the previous games in the series. The game is being aimed at players who appreciated art, story, and strategy. As it's predecessors, The Banner Saga 3 is a turn-based challenging tactical game.

This is the most dissonant of the three soundtracks, but it's the good kind of dissonance. That tone cluster around @22:29 for example just pumps me up with excitement!

9:51 and 27:41 are the most memorable tracks from trilogy and the most atmospheric .Track "encircled wolves" and "forward or downward" are one of my favorite battle VGM from every VGM. Violins in first track has got unbelievable sound and sound of second one reminds me mix of Dead Space,Aliens and Mummy dilogy 😅
