The Soviet 2S3M artillery vehicle has found a special place in my heart. It does one thing particularly well: slinging a massive HE shell and evaporating anything in one shot. By penetration it is the most powerful artillery piece in the game, meaning gameplay with it is very satisfying. I'm honestly surprised that Gaijin haven't moved its battle rating up yet.

Pro tip: you can use the PF round as an air burst round, and it’s so strong that if it flies 3 meters above the roof of a panther the crew is over pressured
THIS. I got destroyed by this tank so many times i couldnt understand why... until i unlocked it and got to use the PF shells and its just dumb. Sometimes i do the good ol Sturmtiger shot over a distance and it just kills something by passing "close" to it

How about playing the Type 75 SPH? It's like the other Derp Cannons but with the bonus of having a 10 sec reload

I love baiting planes with 50cal and then smacking them with HE.
Type 75 is so much better than the 2S3M. Browning .50 cal, 10 second reload (almost twice as fast as the Russian one) and once it's upgraded it has a 10degree/sec turret rotation. Plus it has a smoke shell that is a comically fat cloud.
Type 75 SPH is like a faster firing, slightly more resistant to CAS 2S3M.
I was not expecting the dodgeball "WHACK" when it impacted. 🤣🤣

0:12 actually the G6 has 11 kg of tnt equivalent, so its only the second most powerful HE round(aside from the sturmtiger)🤓
Spookston I think you should do a gameplay video on the cm11, it’s truly a hidden gem, it has the m1 abrams firing system, and an m48 turret mounted on a m60 body. This gives it a faster reload than the m60, it also makes up for most of the armor loss on the m48 turret by suiting it up in ERA. It’s also my favorite tank

The 2s3m is also my favourite vehicle, one tip I picked up is to use the proxy round on heavier targets, if you can get a good enough shot, the fuse will activate on the roof and you basically get a 10 kilo tnt equivalent top attack round

Ah ye, Using Akatsiya as modern tank destroyer. Now that I think it, WT players love to use artillery as modern tank destroyers. Ironic since ATGM carriers were supposed to be that.

I’m 60 years old and haven’t played a video game since CoD originally came out. I watch channels like your because I’m an AFV enthusiast but I must say your channel is very entertaining. It makes me want to play just to be fodder in one of your videos.
This is pretty much why i enjoy the G6 Rhino.
Usually just run the PF rounds and use them like makeshift top attack munitions against the endless Marder & BMP-1 spam.
I love the Rhino. In service it had a laser rangefinder, wish that was added in game.
Still Wanderung how the g6 is higher br than this. Its better armored, more mobile, about the same ammo, smaller and 0.7 lower br? Why

Spookston , you should play the 75/46 M43, it's an Italian heavily overshadowed tank destroyer but it's capable of being a very hard hitter if used correctly as it has a playstile similar to other turretless tank destroyers but with spaced frontal armor.

I love my 2s3m along side the t34-100. Also the proxy round shooting down planes is a feeling all its own. I love that line up
Would be fun if you could play the bmp3. I really like it cause of the reverse gear and thermals

Slap a UAF decal on it to spite the Vatniks as well. Any Soviet/Russian Vehicle must display a UAF symbol if it wishes to be supported by its team.
And that thing fires as fast asf with 4 seconds reload, but atgm takes about 23 seconds, very long.

Seeing SPHs used like this brings back great memories from my time serving on the SPTA, I hope they give us brits the AS90 at some point as I loved working on that beast.
Been waiting to see if you'd play this for a long while. Seriously one of my favorite tanks in the game. Proxy shells shred open tops and tanks you can't pen frontally if you shoot over them. Once got a triple kill on three AAs by aiming between them.

I tip for that tank: Use proxi fuse as main and take like 10 regular ones just in case and when using proxi, if it is further than 350m, aim a bit higher, it'll explode above the tank and almost always ensure the kill
Just wanna say that you are one of if not the best War Thunder CC out there, because you always get straight to the point and even if you get one of the worst vehicles in the game you can make it somewhat fun. If a vehicle is broken you try to get the best out of it instead of dying and then whining how bad it is. You always give me that motivation to play vehicles in a different way than expected and have more fun in War Thunder.
If it weren't for your hilarious videos I would have quit WT by now wich would have been a shame (or a good thing...) because there are many fun vehicles I haven't tried yet especially in mid to high mit tier which i mostly skipped because they seemed broken or just not fun.

Normally I don't like digital camouflage but I think the Ukrainian one looks really cool, especially the third (current) version. I'm not sure how effective it is but it's aesthetically very pleasing.

@@shaddaboop7998 I really hope they eventually paint everything with that paint job especially all the equipment still driving around in khaki paint. They already started mounting ERA to the lepoards I wouldn't be surprised if they paint them aswell

seconding this, have tried almost every semi modern artillery at 7.0 and the type 75's autoloader is really cool, even if its made of aluminum

it's one of my personal favorite russian vehicles, the chassis they share is really nice to drive
you should try the type 75 sph, comparing to the 2S3M HE its a little worse but some japanese gameplay could be interesting

One of my favorite moments in WT was when me and my buddy took this vehcile to the Normandy beach map's road that leads along the beach, and just started to lob proxy fused shells at the other end of the road while being protected by the statue :D
I just spent the last week grinding all the Soviet SPGs to get the 2S3M and it is so fun to play. Perfect video timing for me.
There's not much more satisfying in the game than annihilating a plane or light vehicle with that proxy fuse shell too

If you enjoyed this, you should try the Japanese Type 75 SPH. Essentially the same HE round (1 mm less pen), a 50 cal, and a 10 second reload. Also a proxy fuse if you're so inclined.

Point blank or long range shots, open or city maps, up or down-tiered, that tank is great to play with in every game ! Among my most favorite, and I will always remember the moment I shot down a heli at 2.8km 😋
I still carry a couple AP though for tanks I could struggle to pen, like the Ferdi.

Shooting aircraft with this thing's proxy is THE most entertaining thing i've ever done in this game. They never learn to not fly directly at you even though they can see you aiming for them. I love playing this thing even though the HE is highly inconsistent against heavy or weirdly shaped armor. This is one of the few vehicles that are genuinely enjoyable to play no matter what.
Btw take all proxy shells as they are identical to the regular HE but they have proximity fuze. You can snipe panthers really easily by just aiming well above their turret. Also take like 3 heat/aphe rounds for those situations where you just need to load something for penning raw armor
The proxy fuze HE is very fun to use, especially in arcade mode, it's so easy to obliterate enemy tanks hiding behind a hill, even top tier mbts, leopard nerds tend to not like getting blown up with a arty piece lol, light tanks stand no chance since overpressure just evaporates them, it's some what okay as a pseudo spaa but the firerate doesn't help in that regard

Love how this tank can overpressure Maus and many other heavy tanks. I tend to find the Type 75's round to be more consistent though.
Sppokston you have to try using the HE-Vt round. If u like not aiming, with the HE-VT you can even not hit the enemy and they die anyways. Also, when you face a heavy tank like tiger 2s and t26s you can shoot above them and the round will explode over their roof, effectively nuking them. Only thing to watch out for is the fact that the proxy round has an arming distance of 300m, so this technique doesn't work close up
Edit: You can also shoot at enemies that are behind cover with the proxy shell and nuke them anyways

I completely neglected to use this vehicle while going through the USSR tech tree, seeing this, I am going to go summon HE mayhem now.
You can use the Proxy shells as the HE shells btw. If your within 300 meters the proxy wont go off so just direct impact them.
Your top of the tank/cupola shot not killing someone is my entire HE experience.

When you shot the jumbo 76, and hit the track, remember that the lower hull side of the jumbo is still 38mm, probably the best area to shoot a jumbo with he or a normal Kinetic round.

You should do a video on the su-100p, it is ridiculous. The BR-412D round it has, has 239mm of pen. 93g of TNT equivalent so you mostly one shot all tanks. With aced crew the reload is 7.5 seconds. You can kill most things you face. You are surprisingly maneuverable for a TD. And you have an insane reverse rate which gets you out of a lot of situations. Although the traverse on the gun is rather bad, this tank turns on a dime. Love your videos!
personally I prefer the su 100 because it is .3 br lower, it has really good frontal armor in a downtier, it is very small and easy to hide compared to the SU-100P and it has the same 100mm gun but not as fast of a reload, and it is faster and more maneuverable than the t-34-85, not to mention you won't get killed by machine guns on aircraft in it.
I really think my favourite feature is that the gun sounds kinda like you are hitting someone with a dodgeball…. It brings me joy

I think a video in arcade mode would be fun, using any tank you want. Seeing how you have to play different in the two modes

If you enjoy big guns like this baby, I can't help but wonder if you'd enjoy the South African G6. It can definitely be a little uhh.. problematic.. but it is probably my favourite vehicle in the entire British ground tree! Wonderful video as always~
*Forgot to mention that the most therapeutic thing you can do in it is just load mostly proxy HE, and either top-down attack tanks from afar or mainly just dome planes right out of the sky (might even get a helicopter, who knows)

Just use the proxy round instead of regular he. It behaves the same at close range but will fuse on tanks roofs at long range. It’s almost always one shot anything with a roof proxy. It’s basically tow2b at 6.3
Hi fellow 2S3M enjoyer! You can use the proximity high explosive rounds to explode tanks from the roof, bypassing all their armor. I once even overpressured maus! Yikes!
The isu152 is also very fun at even lower br and you can shoot down strafing planes with the 50cal
i find that shooting tanks where their gun meets their turret fairly reliably kills them, even heavies. ive killed plenty of king tigers, t26e5s, t55am1s, etc. that way using my AuF1.
Great game Spooks. Btw if you are still having the "Squid ink" problem. That is Shader Corruption. You can fix it by deleting the cached shaders in your War Thunder directory and running the client to redownload/compile the shaders. I had that thing happen on my 3080 and doing this fixed that.

7:41 Yep that summarizes separate balancing for planes and tanks. Shoot a 50mm HE onto an M36 and you can overpressure some or all of the crew practically anywhere. But get a plane a 155mm VT or direct hits with HESH, HEAT, HE and their crew doesn't get overpressured the same way.
