The 2S1 is a new self-propelled howitzer in War Thunder. It's like a mini version of the 2S3M, having a smaller cannon and worse protection. It is pretty good, though you can get some Gaijin moments.

Would love to see Turan III get some attention, especially with that you can go full speed in reverse and having a good gun
Quickly becoming one of my favorite tanks. It's like a faster, better armored Pz.IV F/G. I even like the Turan II for low-tier fun.
Turan III reserse speech is extremely comedic. I reverse out of the view of an m24 after getting my breech blown out faster than they could catch me.
Real shit, normally I get maybe aprund 2-3 kills per spawn but with Turan III is I get around 5

I actually drive it is-2 style back end forward because otherwise its a ez 1 shot but with the engine soaking up the shot you can extend your life considerably
Fun fact: This thing isn't modelled amphibious by Gaijin, even so in Devblog (aswell as IRL) it is.
I learned that the hard way in the Hungarian version.
@@corsairsofnarshaddaa I immidiately tried if it's actually amphibious...knowing Gaijin's history with amphibious tanks....well it wasn't and i drowned like an idiot because rivers in Warthunder are actual portals to another dimensions

AML90 is my favourite tank, really good french vehicle. Also ELC bis, Lorraine 40t and AMX-13 (&90), beside them hightier is absolute trash I would only play 5.3 and 7.3

Well, he got screwed by the damage model. The little storage box above the tracks ate the shot before it could hit the top of the hull.

The arl-44 TD has this very funny feature where it’s front plate is virtually immune to anything at its br, but if you shoot the tracks with aphe it will overpressure the crew because of the side skirts. Please play it it’s such a fun vehicle
It also has a turret made of plastic despite the near-impenetrable glacis. It's very funny.
its actually pretty funny how the mantlet, which is ideally the best Armored portion of the vehicle, is a weak spot. unlike most tanks theres a huge gap between the breech and outline of the mantlet so more often than not youll one shot the tank through APHE or hitting the ammo
That M18 bit had me laughing so hard it startled my wife and all 3 of our dogs, good stuff :D

I own a hungarian export of this tank, and I can say this is a pretty nice tank, especially the HEAT-FS on this thing.

Of course the HEATFS would make it good. It's almost like putting more very undertiered heatslingers in the game would make them very good.

@daskollektiv4593 If the HE in WT actually worked like it was supposed to. The HE would indeed be the best round. Because hitting a track or not. That much explosive power would turn a crew to jelly. In War Thunder, a machine gun can eat an entire HE round.
But 100mm+ (Cause I forget the exact. Size.) With a HEATFS dart is gonna absolutely destroy what it hits.

caliber doesnt affect heat damage at all and neither does explosive mass(in terms of heat damage/spall.), it only affects pen.
and even then gaijin artificially nerfs heat alot of the time, from 650mm or 680mm(i dont remember exact numbers) to 440mm and 480mm pen for 125mm and 120mm guns.
heat damage is the second most inconsistent damage in the game next to hesh, heat gets the inconsistency of solid shot without the pro of being caliber based, spall can randomly not be generated or be absorbed by fuel tanks or equipment while unlike solid shot it'll still make the same "beam of pen" without any diameter regardless of caliber.
and like with hesh, netcode can mean the heat jet will sometimes detonate early and be unable to pen what should have been wet cardboard to it. i find this happens alot with turret desync, edges of mantlets and turret cheeks.
Spookston sounded like he was going through all stages of grief within a few seconds at 5:26. I can only sympathize since I always seem to get my breach shot out first thing when playing the Strv 74. May Gaijin have mercy on your soul
The one team who has the most players in planes just automatically win. Yeah you might have more ground players who can take objectives, but what is the point when they get just stomped by aircraft. In most battles I'm in, our team never has any planes or the SPAA just get swarmed by planes when spotted.
I feel that Spookston.
Which it's sad because the mode is called ground and more people play planes. What makes it even worse is that they're gonna tell you that it is a skill issue when tanks aren't meant to fight aircraft.
The other thing that hurts this game on that front is that Gajin decided to literally give every fighter bombs so they could be effectively used in ground.
Probably because fighters (even only plane on plane) is significantly more fun in grb.
@@ilikeships9333 Of course. Cause Gajin makes the travel time much shorter because the mode is supposed to be about tanks. If Gajin actually took out the planes or had a separate mode. It'd actually be much more fun to play tanks.
Finland still uses these (and D-30s that use the same ammo), so they could add this to the Swedish tree as well, but at least Italy got it via Hungary. Finland does also have K9s, but I don't think they have laser rangefinders like the VIDAR, so that's probably why they chose it instead.
Driving the 2S1 was the most fun I had in the army (or in my life tbh) and I'm sad I won't get to hear and feel that turbocharged YaMZ-238 probably ever again.

Aside from actual good gameplay, I love how you're not shy from hiding bad and unlucky plays in your videos, definitely more interesting than someone posting a 50000 killstreak nuke video.
Out of all the big HE slingers I like the type 75 the best. gets all the different shell types (HE in two speeds, proxy, smoke), has a pintle 50 cal to clean obstacles, and gets low velocity HE for punting over hills.

Spookston you should play the russian traktor tank destroyer, the Zis-30, its so hilarious to play with its wacky suspension and to use in an uptier day 38
i honestly prefer the LVT(A)(4) ZiS-4, faster and has much more survivability

Big recommend on the type 75 sph next time you play a he slinger
Choice between fast shells and heavy shells, proxy fuze for aa, roof mounted .50, auto loader, surpisingly survivable with enough crew to act as meat shields for your ammo rack. Also survives .50s when angled properly

Other than having no armor, this one is better, quicker reload with a better heat shell and a better proxy at a lower br
but you can get this one in Italian tree too.

Very much worth bringing the HEAT and HE-VT on this thing. It only has a 122 and it's at peak heavy tank BR so there's a lot of things the HE won't be able to kill. Also, M46s with the fence armor.

Hey spookston a trick Iv learned with Arty tanks, if you hit the track underneath the hull the explosion will blow up the tank. Think like a land mine. Shoot the inner side of the tracks and the hell will sent it all sky high
This thing was so much fun in the Hungarian tree too. Once I got HEATFS, I mained it instead of HE, and it was absolutely obliterating everything I came across. It actually has very good post-pen damage for a HEAT round, and it still overpressures certain vehicles. The proximity fuse shells, I just couldn't get to work. I managed to "hit" two planes, and it just took a tiny chunk off, didn't kill them. The rest, I couldn't judge the distance and drop properly.
Same bro. I thought I'd hate it since it's HE can't overpressure consistently on medium to well armored tanks..but once I got the HEATFS man just one center shot on anything within its BR is a guaranteed one shot. It's heavenly.
The amount of emoting Spookston is using is really telling that the CAS is really hurting his mental state!

i researched and added this to mine own lineup within days of it arriving. As an SPG main i'm always game to try a new big, stupid looking gun bolted onto treads. its a perfect "back up to a corner and fire gun around it" spg.
Spookston should try the IPM1 with Max Ace’d crew. Decent Armor and mobility with a good gun and round but a cracked teenager for a reloader❤

You should try using an eye tracker for a video idea. Saw a person named ryanberry use it in WarThunder and it was pretty interesting and fun to watch

I would love to see the JPZ 4-5 from the german tech tree, because in the line up at its BR it is one of few things along with the Bulldog to be able to penetrate the russian tanks at 7.0 or 7.3. And what I especially love about this thing and the Bulldog, is that you can flank, which most people playing against Germany don’t expect and because of that you are able to get ridiculous amount of kills. Anyway great video, live your content, bye! 👍🤙👋
They cant tank 5 shells from an IS1 and IS2 to the front so I doubt they are well armored tanks
