[FIXED] PDF Files Open In Chrome Instead of Adobe Reader

- This video shows how to configure Windows 10 to open PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Reader instead of Google Chrome. This issue is resolved by changing the file associations so that files with the .pdf extension open in the desired program.
Words can’t explain how helpful this was. I have been trying to figure this out for hours.

I am grateful that this still applies. The change first took place on my laptop, and today on my desktop. Thank you! This is the first tutorial that actually worked! By changing just one pdf that had changed to Chrome HTML, it changed them all back to the original pdf. What a relief!

My files show with an Adobe icon, but still open in Chrome!

THANK YOU!!! I did an update to my computer and all my PDF documents were changed to Google HTML doc. They were actually opening in Google Chrome!! Your suggestion actually worked!!!! Great!!! I followed the steps did it once. Now all my documents are back to PDF!!!!

When I opened properties it already had Adobe but I hit change and clicked Adobe again and they changed. Thank you!

GENIUS. Chrome regularly takes over my PDFs and it's really annoying. I can sometimes fix with my Chrome settings. Sometimes there's a setting in Adobe I've adjusted to fix this. I've now bookmarked this video. Goodness, the relationship between google and adobe is no bueno!

I have does this several times but whenever I shut my pc down, it resets back to chrome. Thoughts?
You have probably fixed your issue by now since I see your post was 4 months ago, but when I did this method on my computer, I did not have to restart. After I made the change with one of the files I currently had that showed the Chrome symbol, then when I clicked "Apply" it asked if I wanted to change all of my files to Adobe. I selected "Yes" and then it automatically changed all of my files to Adobe. I am so happy because I was freaking out trying to fix it. I hope you got yours fixed.
