Hi Dr Jones. Thank you once again! I never miss your videos. You asked for feedback, so I just wanted to share my experience with coconut oil. I happened to discover coconut oil several weeks ago and I LOVE it. After I apply it my doggie stays flea-free for 2-3 days. Then I just re-apply it. It gives me peace of mind that it's non-toxic and not harmful when he licks it off. In fact, it's even nutritious lol ! It's absorbed into his skin and hair after about an hour, so he doesn't stay oily. And he smells nice and coconutty. I hadn't tried spraying it, but I will try it now. I've been scooping it out with my fingers and rubbing it directly onto his skin. (I spoon some out of the jar and put into a separate container for this) I kind of go under his hair. It actually seems to melt on his skin, so I don't heat it. This also gives him a nice massage, which he likes. So that's my experience with coconut oil which is TOTALLY POSITIVE. Thanks again! LOVE your channel.❤❤❤❤🐾🐾🐾
This really works. I tried that on my old 17 years old cat a few months ago. He had irritations in his ears and debris that look like ear mites. After about two weeks of treatment, he had very clear ears. Poor boy, it was going on for few years.
Thank you Dr. Andrew, it works, I use it on my dogs whole last summer specially when we were at the seaside, but as you said we must put it on daily, and I use combination of coconut oil and castor oil as I saw in one of your videos before and lavender essential oil and lemon grass👌🏻🐾🐾🐾🐾
Coconut oil kills fleas, too. Works for flea infestation. My cat even seems to like the feel of it when I pour a little coconut oil on her. Yes, she looks wet from the oil for a couple of days, but she licks it off and is none the worse for it.
I use coconut oil for everything, have used it on my face and as an all over body moisturizer for years! Have made many of your remedies for my dogs with it as well! Definitely trying this today!

Cool something I have on hand I've been giving my pup a little in his food to make his kibble more appealing. But I have a side question is coconut oil good for treating ear infections in dogs? If so will it work as a spoonful of coconut oil in a solid state orally or would it need to be melted down to liquid to put it in his ears. I ask because the breeders said to give a spoonful of coconut oil but as I looked up this method others melt it to liquid to put in ears
definitely helps, ive used it a couple times for my dog anytime I saw she had build up or redness. Coco oil is naturally antimicrobial so it will help kill the infection, I get some on a q tip and gently put in ear (where it will get in the ear without poking the q tip too far in) and it will melt :)

Hello, I haven't tried it yet (and I will), but I wonder if the coconut oil could be doubly effective if combined with garlic oil? What do you think? I've been reading that garlic in small doses, when eaten by the dogs daily, can have a repellent effect after about a week. And they make garlic sprays for the yard to repel mosquitos, fleas, tick, and other bugs. So if it works both outside and internally, why can't garlic be sprayed on the dog? Would love to hear your answer. Thanks.
My dog has had a serious bout of pancreatitis. If he licks the coconut oil off of himself, would that be potentially bad for him? I may be over protective of him now, but better safe than sorry.
I am trying to find out if Picaridin, or Icaridin is safe to use on my dogs. Trials on humans, rats, and rabbits have shown very low toxicity levels. Approved for use in the EU for several decades. It is recommended as safe to by use preagnant/nursing women.I find very little info online re safety for canines. It apparently works quite well at repelling biting insects including mosquitoes and ticks.
I've read the article you're talking about and coconut oil is not the thing that's good at repelling insects coconut oil on its own is not effective it's the specific compound in coconut oil extracted that's effective I don't know what that compound is and I'm trying to figure that out

Hi,I had the exact same questions waiting for some advice on that. Can we use coconut oil only? Is the witch hazel and essential oils receipe the same ? Can we add essential oils so the coconut oil? Please help 😁
I have been massaging in the coconut oil/castor oil mix daily and use the witch hazel, lemon grass, cedarwood oil to spray base of tail and on his harness when we go outside for walks (tried spraying it on a bandana but don't think he likes it that close to his nose - I think it smells great!) He loves the coconut oil massages - lines up every morning without calling him. It dissolves readily into the hair and skin - no oily mess if you massage it in down to the skin...I keep it in a jar not a sprayer.
You can get liquid coconut oil. No smell,no taste which I now use on my cats. I just pour into a cup, dip my hands in and rub it on the cats. Have to be quick with a couple they run when they feel like fur is getting wet.

yes but i suggest you look at his playlists under flea and tick, i was hearing that food grade diatomaceous earth, works like a charm, it should be the second video in the playlist Flea and Ticks, make sure u listen throughout the whole way!
You're supposed to spray it all over them every day? Picturing a cat covered in hardened coconut oil.... smeared onto everywhere they go in the house... Also they would lick it off right away. Is that much coconut oil good for them?
I used it on my new Anatolian puppy I think the Silly boy ended up licking most of it back off of him Self. But I guess that's good he gets it inside and out😂😂😂
The only pronlem is that liquid (fractionated) coconut oil has had the lauric acid removed. Since lauric acid is the ingredient that kills fleas, it doesn't seem that it would be effective.
Hold on...i read the study ..but it doesn't seem like coconut oil, natural with all the full components works as a repellent...but certain acids when used alone or with others.....or did i get it wrong?
I didn"t read that particular study but I know it's the lauric acid in coconut oil that kills fleas. It dissolves their outer shell. Lauric acid is found in pure, natural coconut oil. In fact, the less it's processed the better it works. It's advised to purchase organic, cold pressed, virgin coconut oil. It doesn't need to be mixed w anything. That's what I use and I've found it to be an excellent flea repellent.
Hi- there were different parts of the study, but some did use the entire coconut oil, showing it to have the repellent activity. What i got from the study is that you can't just isolate one component, and have that work.
Dr. Andrew, Doesn't liquid, otherwise known as fractionated coconut oil ( I'm talking about the kind you buy) have the lauric acid removed? Isn't it the lauric acid that is so beneficial in the ways we are using coconut oil here in your videos?I just wanted to clarify this because I see some are suggesting to use the liquid form of coconut oil that can be readily purchased. It's usually used as a carrier oil for humans in massage therapy. It does not contain lauric acid. Just asking for clarification, please. Thank you. ❤
I checked and found out that fractionated (liquid) coconut oil DOES NOT contain lauric acid, which is the ingredient that kills & repels fleas. So ONLY natural, unaltered cocomut oil will work to kill / repel fleas. To make fractionated (liquid) coconut oil all the lauric acid, which has a high melting point, is REMOVED, in order for the oil to stay liquid. What's left are MCT oils such as capric and capeilic acids, which DO NOT kill or repel fleas. So bottom line is that for flea killing/repelling ONLY natural, unaltered (unmanufactured) coconut oil is effective. But really, it liquifies on your fingertips and on your dog's skin anyway. Just scoop it out and rub it directly onto his/her skin. This also provides a nice doggie massage.

Since your dog is so small, why not keep feeding her what she wants to eat? Along with some green beans, carrots, peas, blueberries and cranberries if she wants it. Keep loving your pup!

Yes love coconut oil I do that for my dog ❤️😇
You can get liquid coconut oil. No smell,no taste which I now use on my cats. I just pour into a cup, dip my hands in and rub it on the cats. Have to be quick with a couple they run when they feel like fur is getting wet.
Edith Davis Hi Edith! Do you have a link as to where you purchase your liquid coconut oil? My girlfriend dreads the coconut smell and taste, however, I’d love to do this for my doodles! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

They usually have it at the grocery store where the olive oil and such are. Not sure, however, if it's as effective as the all natural oil in the jar.
Thank you edith . I'm going to try it out .
@@adrianescalante8313 You can do a search for 'fractionated coconut oil' which is the liquified version. There are many places that carry it, including Amazon, although I am not a fan of Amazon. Here is a link to one offered on Vitacost... a good company ... www.vitacost.com/life-flo-fractionated-coconut-oil-16-fl-oz
Does this make your cats oily leave oil stains where they lay? It seems like they would get pretty oily doing this daily..🤔
Won't that just harden again under cool temperatures? How about using MCT oil instead. That should not clog the sprayer?🤔
I don’t like giving my dog a pill that’s poison to eat to kill flees .. that always bothers me.
Thank you ..
Hello dr jones can i use lavender essential oil with the counut oil together and if so how much of the lavender oil do i use my dog she weights 55 lbs. Thanks
How about the oily stain that will never come out of cloth and fabrics?
My Stella has sores all over and suffering so IDGAF about an oil stain. But here is the solution
To use baby powder to remove an oil stain, lay the stained item on a flat surface and sprinkle powder or cornstarch generously over the oily area. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb the oil, then brush the powder off. 😊
So my lab loves coconut treats amd my fear is he will lick himself so much that hairballs will become more of an issue?
Is coconut oil ok to give to a dog with liver disease?
Depends on the extent of the liver damage- In general dogs with liver disease still get fat, unless they have fatty liver. First talk to your vet
Does it help with fleas???
yes but i suggest you look at his playlists under flea and tick, i was hearing that food grade diatomaceous earth, works like a charm, it should be the second video in the playlist Flea and Ticks, make sure u listen throughout the whole way!
How about using the MTC version of coconut oil? It won’t solidify.. is it ok to use that?
Mixed johnson baby shampoo, fresh mint, vanila extract and water can be used for dog flea? 😢
Doc...your not looking well!
When was the last time you saw a Dr?
I feel pretty good...although I am going for a check up next week :-)
You're supposed to spray it all over them every day? Picturing a cat covered in hardened coconut oil.... smeared onto everywhere they go in the house...
Also they would lick it off right away. Is that much coconut oil good for them?
If you have an infestation then yes, do it daily,
Great thank you
You're most welcome!
Is it just for fleas or ticks also?
both
I used it on my new Anatolian puppy I think the Silly boy ended up licking most of it back off of him Self. But I guess that's good he gets it inside and out😂😂😂
how do you not end up with an oily, greasy pet ??? which means you end up with an oily, greasy couch, bed etc ...
You can buy coconut oil as a liquid (and it stays liquid) to use as a carrier oil for essential oils.
Which would you use? Lavender? Tea tree? Pine? Cyprus? Cinnamon? Thanks for your input
The only pronlem is that liquid (fractionated) coconut oil has had the lauric acid removed. Since lauric acid is the ingredient that kills fleas, it doesn't seem that it would be effective.
❤️
@@VeterinarySecrets Thank you Dr Jones.
Dr is brewers yeast good for flea repellent?
Not really
My dog just was diagnosed with cushing disease will this help him with him pulling out his hair?
It may help
If using this daily does it make the animal fur look/feel oily and wet?
My dogs seems fine with it sprayed daily
does it work to add to their food?
Much better if applied topically
@@VeterinarySecrets Thank you
Dr. Andrew,
Doesn't liquid, otherwise known as fractionated coconut oil ( I'm talking about the kind you buy) have the lauric acid removed? Isn't it the lauric acid that is so beneficial in the ways we are using coconut oil here in your videos?I just wanted to clarify this because I see some are suggesting to use the liquid form of coconut oil that can be readily purchased. It's usually used as a carrier oil for humans in massage therapy. It does not contain lauric acid. Just asking for clarification, please. Thank you. ❤
I second this question!!
👍👍😊😊

Awesome.........
I just found out that my adult cat has worm's that look like rice in his anus..hes NEVER had that before

@@scandl01 how do i make it ?
@@alejandrogarcia43 my green juice has apples, lemon, celery, cucumber, kale; carrot juice has carrot, apple, ginger. There's no magic recipe, though. Just use fresh produce.

I have a 5 pounds yorkie poo girl who wont eat. She will eat chicken and steak....help
Dr Jones has a publication on feeding a natural diet (which would include chicken & steak). Much better for a dog than kibble.
Jesus child It’s interesting how our pets try to tell us what we should be feeding them so it’s up to us human parents to really pay attention. Since your dog is so small, why not keep feeding her what she wants to eat? Along with some green beans, carrots, peas, blueberries and cranberries if she wants it. Keep loving your pup!
have you ever used Neem oil ? it came highly recommended to me. its the tics that are a big concern over here :(

hi Doc, I have used soresto collar for three years, not one tick (tons in this area). Ticks loved Frontline & Advantix..... Alot of Counterfeit Soresto collars on ebay.... anyone trying, buy from costco or retail store.
Those collars are not safe & I believe they cause cancer. Just google it or read the info on the pharmaceutical guide.
Thank you
